The German army needs billions of euros to acquire new radio equipment and heavy engineering equipment, reports RIA News Statement by the Chief Inspector of the Ground Forces of the Federal Republic of Germany, General Jörg Vollmer.

“The biggest problem for us is communication,” said Vollmer.
According to him, “since 2020, manufacturers will not be obliged to supply spare parts for radio stations and other communication equipment.”
The inspector also said that “the army is in dire need of a Leguan tank bridge laying machine manufactured by Krauss Maffei Wegmann.”
At the same time, Vollmer noted that "the modernization of the German army to achieve the required capacity will take many years."
