Tests "Severodvinsk" go according to plan
Successfully completed the planned tests of the head multipurpose nuclear submarine "Severodvinsk" - a representative of the fourth generation, created in the framework of the project 885 "Ash". Thus, the work planned on 2011 for the year to test the functioning of the complexes and systems was completed. The ITAR-TASS reported on the successful completion of this sea test campaign on Thursday, citing the press service of the plant. Tests of the new submarine, built on the Sevmash defense shipyard, were launched on September 12.
According to the data provided by the manufacturer, the launch of the Severodvinsk into service with the Russian army will take place next year.
The first launch of the fourth-generation submarine of the fourth generation was made 15 June 2010. This event was attended by the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev.
The first tests of Severodvinsk lasted three weeks. The test campaign was interrupted at the beginning of September, as during the operation of the new submarine, "minor faults" were identified, which could only be corrected by returning to the home base.
The next test trip began at the end of October and passed without technical complications. In the open sea the boat was within two months. During this time, naval sailors and technical specialists conducted a variety of work on the verification of submarine complexes and systems. Detailed information on the course of the test was not distributed.
According to the data provided by ITAR-TASS, the multipurpose nuclear submarine Severodvinsk was assigned the number K-329. The development of its project involved the St. Petersburg Maritime Engineering Bureau "Malachite". The first works on its construction were started in 1993 at the Sevmash shipyard. Finished construction in the summer of 2010.
Representatives of the plant explain such a long period of construction not only with the economic problems that arose before Russia at the end of the last century, but also with the complexity and scale of the design of the new submarine.
Among the fundamental changes in the design can be noted the placement of anti-ship torpedoes behind the central compartment, previously they were placed on the bow of the vessel. This innovation enabled designers to place on the bow of the boat a huge hydro-acoustic antenna.
The armament of Severodvinsk includes supersonic Onyx cruise missiles, universal self-guided deep-sea mines and torpedoes. Missiles are launched using eight vertical-type installations. Details about the nuclear reactor and the engine from the designers did not appear, they limited themselves only to what they called it fundamentally new.
The known technical characteristics of Severodvinsk are the following: displacement - 9.5 thousand tons, length - 120 meters, maximum depth of the dive - 600 meters, maximum underwater speed - 31 node. The submarine crew consists of 85 people.
The plans of the command of the Russian Navy - the adoption of the new submarine "Severodvinsk" in 2012 year. Also on Sevmash in July 2009, the construction of the second submarine of the 885 project, Kazan, was started. According to the data provided by the general director of Sevmash, at least five submarines of this type will be produced. The corresponding contract has already been signed with the Ministry of Defense. These boats should be a substitute for the 949 “Antey” submarine, which is nicknamed “aircraft carrier killers”.
