In the course of implementing the provisions of the Open Skies Treaty, Russian inspectors are preparing to perform an observation flight on board the An-30B over the territory of Britain and Northern Ireland, reports Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
“An observation flight of the maximum range to 2400 kilometers will be performed from 23 to 28 in May 2016 from the Brize Norton open sky airfield. The Russian aircraft will carry out the flight according to the route agreed with the observed party, and the British specialists on board will control the order of use of the observation equipment and compliance with the provisions stipulated by the Treaty, ”the release says.
It is noted that this is the 14-th flight of Russian aircraft over the countries parties to the Treaty in the current year.
Practically at the same time (from 23 to 27 in May), Russia will receive a joint mission of observers from Germany and France, which “will fly over the territory of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation on the French C-130H observation aircraft from the Kubinka airfield.
The work of foreign inspectors on board the C-130H will be monitored by Russian specialists.
“The C-130H observation aircraft belongs to the class of aircraft not intended to be used by any weapons. The plane and the observation equipment installed on it (aerial cameras) underwent an international certification, in which Russian specialists took part, which precludes the use of technical means not provided for by the Treaty, ”the message says.
