Amphibious assault landing

Amphibious assault landing

September 14, I happened to be present at one of the stages of the exercises of the coastal forces and the Pacific fleet in Kamchatka.
The scene of action is Zavoyko Bay (Avacha Bay).

2.

The participants are the 3 th Marine Regiment, the 155 Brigade of the Marine Corps and the Pacific Fleet ships.
The task is to work out a long maritime transition (Vladivostok - Avacha Bay) and the landing of an amphibious assault on an unequipped coast.

The main features of the exercises:
- for the first time such a long maritime transition with troops on board (landing assault battalion of the 155 Brigade of the Marine Corps (Vladivostok) with reinforcement equipment) was worked out
- paratroopers landed not on the usual training grounds, where they undergo regular training, but on the coast unknown to them.
The numerical strength of the landing party is 520 people, the numerical strength of the defenders (a company of marines of the 3 regiment (Kamchatka) - 62.

Before landing, artillery and aviation strikes along the coast. Naturally, no one shot at living people, so a lot of imitation bombings were carried out.

3.

4.

In this place, the sappers laid a charge from the heart - the funnel was deeper than one and a half meters :)

5.

In the mouth of the Avacha Bay, a large landing ship appears. 775 / III Peresvet. Vilyuchinsky volcano in the background

6.

In the meantime, an airborne landing is being carried out from two helicopters that land an assault group, ensuring the success of the first echelon of an amphibious assault. It binds the defenders into battle, preventing them from bringing down all the firepower to those who enter from the sea.

10.

11.

While the assault team leads the battle, diverting the defenders, an engineering and sapper group disembarks from the motorboats ashore, which must demine the passage ways for the equipment.

12.

After receiving a signal about the demining of the coast from Peresvet, the landing of the first echelon of the landing force, a company of marines on armored personnel carriers, begins, the task of which is to capture the landing point

13.

16.

17.

To cover the landing, the assault group and sappers abundantly “abused” smoke, so visibility deteriorated greatly

A large landing ship Ave. 1171 "Nikolai Vilkov" with the third echelon of the landing force, in which the main forces are located, approaches the shore.

35.

The ship becomes an emphasis and begins unloading equipment

37.

38.

39.

Actually, the first stage of the exercise was completed at this point, and at the second stage, combat firing was planned at the training ground. The commander of the coastal troops praised the landing on the rating "good", because there were small overlays like the BTR driver stuck in the second echelon due to the inept actions. The guy drove at an angle on a hillock and sat on his bottom. The other car took off a few minutes, of course, but the estimate for disembarking was lowered

40.

By the way, according to theoretical calculations, the possible losses of those coming from such landings are up to 40%, and those of the defenders are up to 60% of personnel.

Various photos of the participants of the action:

43.

The upgraded BTR-80K 155 Brigade of Marines. These machines (BTR-80, BTR-80K) are new, arrived in the 2010 part of the year. In general, in the brigade all the wheeled vehicles are new (URALs, communication vehicles, etc.)

44.

Anti-aircraft gunners

45.

46.

47.

Unfortunately, there was practically no time to talk with officers and soldiers, because Marines immediately descend to the landfill. But still I managed to ask something:
- in the 3 regiment of the marine corps (Kamchatka) the proportion of contract soldiers and conscripts 20 and 80% are now recruiting again for the contract service. The money allowance of the contractor from 18 (only arrived in Kamchatka, no allowances) to 32 (long served, "northern", etc.) thousand rubles. For most of the officers and family contractors, service housing is provided, 2 apartment buildings have recently been built for this purpose. The barracks in 2004-2006 were rebuilt according to the federal target program for contract soldiers, therefore there is a Kubrik system everywhere (room for 4-s people).

thanks for the photo report informative
but as they say everything was smooth on paper ..............
generally in tactics this is ala 1944 and it’s a ride against rebels or countries like Georgia (and I’m not sure)
what are working out ..tactics of the last century ???
where the over-horizon landing .... no because there is nothing ... and train on the old man

Well done, Brothers! Avacha. became a native for three years of service from 1975 to 1978. It turns out that the Red Banner Kamchatka Flotilla is still alive! Hooray !

Even from the pictures it can be seen that your new "number", lighter, subjectively better camouflages than the old sample of camouflage. Still, it was not made of synthetics - otherwise it is not quite suitable for the Russian climate, probably ...

The Marines are GOOD, only the correspondent's statements are not clear, especially [] the loss of the attackers during such landings - up to 40%, and the defenders - up to 60% of the personnel. Or I do not understand something correct.

Well, something like a warbler farther than space communications (although this is just a hunch)

There are more objective reports about the life of the army! Thanks to the author of the report!
I remember recently a story where in a similar situation an armored personnel carrier of marines, in the same Pacific Fleet, sat on the "belly", so the title was: "The Russian army has never seen such a shame ...". I believe that re-issuing accreditation to such "journals" for covering events in the army should be prohibited.

Thank you smile Then I looked for more. It turns out As of 2011, there was only one ship left in Russia capable of working with space objects:
      “Marshal Krylov” (Vilyuchinsk, Kamchatka), project 1914.1;
      It was still:
      "Cosmonaut Victor Patsaev" (Kaliningrad).
But he was removed from the fleet in 2001. Currently located in the Museum of the World Ocean in Kaliningrad. The main tasks of the vessel were the reception and analysis of telemetric data and the provision of radio communications between spacecraft and the Mission Control Center. Here is still left and to write off this. Then in general we will cease to launch satellites, otherwise there will be nothing to control them smile

I recall the slogan from our bright past: "Everything that is created by the people must be reliably protected!" Kamchatka was created by nature, but the region is ours! I was lucky to live there for three years as a child, when my father served in the naval aviation regiment. The land of fabulous beauty, the purest rivers, unique hot springs, gullies, calderas, forests, mountains ... And all this must be protected constantly and reliably!

There are no naval people here - even the "regalia" for the rating are given by land. If a "steamer" with a balloon is a so-called "hydrograph" or a space communications ship.
Regarding the BDK "N. Vilkov" - I would have to tell some negative gentlemen this story: if you are so smart, then why are you so stupid - obviously, unserviceable. And if you are not serving, then keep your opinions at your own ports, otherwise, I suppose, they will steal.
On this ship I went through two military services in "not cold" areas and, I suppose that the personnel of the ship and the marines who were "involved" in these actions, God forbid, when they meet, they will find out your "reviews" about themselves - so go you, bet, with thoroughly broken mugs. I ask you to respect other people's merits, if you do not have your own.
The landing is the essence of the whole action, where the crew works as one well-coordinated and uninterrupted mechanism - this is the culmination of all the previous stages and the right to make a mistake is excluded. And it does not depend on the "prepared" or "not very" coast. Sometimes you can get confused in your own toilet. And dudes in red jackets walk around - it's like life jackets so that a dude like a pee who has fallen overboard with a joke could be seen from afar by the rescue service.
