The Syrian army liberated from the militants of ISIS El Qaryatayn
32
On the eve of the Syrian government army, together with the militia with the support of airborne forces of the Russian Federation and the air force of the SAR fully captured the city of Al-Qaryatane. Active fighting for this locality, which had been under the control of the militants of the so-called “Islamic State” since August 2015, continued during the last week. With strikes from several directions, the units of the 4 th mechanized division and the special forces of the Desert Falcons broke the resistance of the igilovtsy into several key areas and entered El Qaryatiane, whose predominant population was once Syrian Christians.
Militants LIH suffered significant losses in manpower and military equipment. Not being able to continue active resistance of the Syrian army, striking at positions of terrorists from different directions, the surviving ISIL militants were forced to leave El Qaryatayn and retreat towards the Syrian-Iraqi border.
The importance of liberating El-Karyatayne is very great, not only because it is another stronghold in the province of Homs, beaten off by ISIL militants, but also because it releases forces to attack ISIL positions in the Deir ez-Zor area. In addition, the militants beat back the most important oil-bearing regions, of which they transported the oil stolen from the Syrian state and people abroad (including to Turkey). And along with El-Karjatjein, the Syrian army is controlled by almost the entire most important road connecting Damascus with the previously liberated Palmyra.
