Who blew up Brussels? Belgium has become a target for new terrorist attacks
Blew up the airport and subway
Explosive devices were powered right in front of the inspection area - at the American Airlines counter. According to eyewitnesses, before the explosions, shots and cries were heard in Arabic. As a result of the terrorist attacks at the airport of the Belgian capital, at least 17 people died. Several dozen people were injured of varying degrees of severity. After the attacks, the airport was completely closed and blocked. At the airport there are employees of operational services. The Belgian authorities ordered to cancel the departure and landing flights at the airport Zaventem, all flights were redirected to other Belgian airports. The police leadership warned citizens to travel to the airport, and those who were at the airport at the time of the terrorist attacks were evacuated from the building and sent to special buses in Brussels. Railway communication with Zaventem Airport was also suspended. It is known that flights of Russian airlines, which were supposed to go to the capital of Belgium, while can be redirected to the airports of Dusseldorf or Amsterdam. Israeli airlines completely canceled flights to Europe in connection with the terrorist attacks that took place, Greek airline Aegean Airlines announced the cancellation of flights to Belgium. The leadership of the Netherlands has increased the level of anti-terrorism security in connection with the terrorist attacks in neighboring Belgium.
According to the Belgian police, there is a high probability that there are several un-powered explosive devices left at the airport. Terrorists often use such tactics - new explosions are made some time after the first explosions, when a large number of police officers, rescuers, doctors work at the scene of the incident, and there are representatives of government and special services. Therefore, the operational services of Brussels carry out a thorough survey of the airport and the surrounding area. In addition, the police examined the premises of the Hospital of Saint-Pierre, regarding which also received information that there might be a bomb. All hospitals in Brussels began inspections of things of patients and visitors, installed metal detectors at the entrances. In 19.23 22 in March, the third bomb was found and neutralized by bomb technicians in the airport building. In addition, police found an abandoned Kalashnikov assault rifle at the airport. The media are now actively discussing the rumor that during the terrorist attacks in Brussels, the same substance could have been used as during the attack in Paris.
Some time after the explosions at the airport, three more explosions thundered in the Belgian metro at Maalbek station, near which the offices of administrative institutions of the European Union are located. Sky News reported about ten killed in a terrorist attack in the subway. AFP later reported 21 killed in a terrorist attack at Zaventem airport and the Brussels metro station. After the explosions, all the metro stations in Brussels were also closed. In Belgium, the fourth, the maximum level of the terrorist threat has been introduced; all power structures of the country have been mobilized. Only at 18.59 did it become known that the authorities in Brussels decided to open the metro. The building of the Brussels station, which was also initially closed, is on duty by the police and military personnel. Because of the terrorist attacks, the hockey match in Herentals was canceled, in which the Belgian and Dutch teams - Herentals and Friesland Flyers, were to play. In addition, in the evening of March 22, the Belgian authorities decided to evacuate the personnel of two nuclear power plants in the country - Tiange in Wallonia and Dol in Flanders, and the NPPs themselves will continue to function, but under heavy guard by police and security personnel. At about three o'clock in the afternoon of March 22, it became known that the Belgian royal family was temporarily evacuated from Brussels, and military units and armored vehicles were introduced into the capital of the country.
Belgium against terrorists
It is not the first time when the capital of small Belgium is at the epicenter of the antiterrorist epic. Most recently, a week ago, 15 March 2016, in Brussels, a shootout of terrorists with operatives took place. During the antiterrorist operation conducted by the Belgian police in the Faure area in the suburbs of Brussels, terrorists clashed with the police, in which three Belgian law enforcement officers were injured. It later became known that a police special operation was carried out in connection with the investigation of high-profile terrorist attacks in Paris in the autumn of 2015. Police officers visited one of the apartments where suspicious people from North Africa lived. A shootout ensued, during which police shot and killed an Algiers resident, Mohammed Belkaida. Two more suspects managed to escape, having run away over the rooftops, but then the police managed to arrest a certain Salah Abdesalam. He is accused of organizing terrorist attacks in Paris. The third inhabitant of the suspicious apartment managed to escape and the Belgian police still did not detain him.
After the terrorist attacks at the airport, life in Brussels changed. First, increased security measures were introduced at all public and private facilities, including train stations, metro stations, airports, hospitals, and schools. Secondly, in public places searches of bags at passersby began. Some media outlets are already putting forward as one of the most likely versions the relationship between the special operation of the Belgian police 15 March and the bombings at the airport and metro. Despite the fact that Salah Abdesalam was arrested, his accomplices remain at large, and the terrorist underground in the territory of Belgium has not yet been identified and destroyed. Currently, the Belgian police are still searching for Nadjim Laashraui. It was he who, apparently, was the third occupant of an apartment in the commune of Faure, who participated in a shootout with the police along with Belkaid and Abdesalam. This man's DNA was found on physical evidence found in Paris after the November 13 attacks. Now Laashraoui is suspected of organizing terrorist attacks in Brussels. Like many terrorists, including those who committed terrorist attacks in Paris, Laashroui is a typical “second wave migrant”. He grew up in Belgium, he is 24 of the year. The childhood and youth years spent in Belgium, however, did not affect Laashroui, moreover - he became an active supporter of religious extremists and went into hiding. The security services managed to find out that lately, Laashraoui was residing on forged documents in another's name and rented a house in the vicinity of the city of Namur in Wallonia. It was in this house that the meetings of the terrorist cell that planned the attacks in Paris took place.
Later, the Belgian police were able to establish exemplary actions of Laashraoui during and after the terrorist attacks in Paris. So, in November 2015, the city of Abdesalam, Laashraoui and Belkaid were fixed in a Mercedes car when they crossed the border of Austria and Hungary. 17 in November 2015 in Laashraoui and Belkaid were again on surveillance cameras - this time near the Western Union branch in Brussels. It was from this department that a money transfer was made - the 750 of the euro was sent to Abdelhamid Abaoud’s sister, who was liquidated on November 14 by 18 by French special forces during the storming of an apartment in Saint-Denis. Abaoud was also considered one of the direct organizers of the terrorist attacks in Paris, after which the French police managed to get on his trail. By the way, the fact that Laashraoui walked free in Belgium for so long is a direct flaw in the Belgian special services. The fact is that in February 2015, the city of Laashraoui visited Syria, where he could take part in hostilities or be instructed by the leadership of the IG organization banned in Russia. In addition, in February 2013 was held in absentia in Brussels by the accused in a case of recruiting into the ranks of a banned IG organization. Belgian public prosecutors asked the court to sentence Laashroui to 2016 years of imprisonment.
Case Dovbash brothers
Meanwhile, the agency “Sputnik” (MIA “Russia Today”) reported that two natives of the Gomel region of the Republic of Belarus 23-year-old Ivan Dovbash and 27-year-old Alexey Dovbash, and also a native of Dagestan (Russian Federation) Marat Yunusov are suspected of the terrorist attack in Brussels. , not so long ago received citizenship of Belarus. The Dovbash brothers live for some time in the territory of Belgium, the media report on their possible involvement in radical fundamentalist organizations. The head of the press service of the State Security Committee of the Republic of Belarus, Dmitri Pobyarzhin, said that the brothers Dovbash and Marat Yunusov are indeed known to the republican security organs and are being checked against them. We remind that earlier the Minister of Internal Affairs of Belarus Igor Shunevich announced that at least ten citizens of the republic take part in the hostilities in the Middle East as part of radical fundamentalist organizations.
However, later the Dovbash brothers themselves contacted journalists. Ivan Dovbash said that after the messages that appeared in the media, he himself was forced to turn to the Belgian special services and they assured him that they had no complaints about him or his brother. The absence of claims is evidenced by the fact that the Dovbash brothers are not arrested and are at large, and, according to Ivan, the reason for suspicion could be given by the fact that the brothers accepted Islam and then came into the view of the special services - now their name is Suleiman and Khalid. According to the representative of the KGB of Belarus, back in December 2015 from the Russian special services received a request regarding the activities of the brothers Dovbash and Yunusov, but until now the country's special services do not have information about the participation of its citizens in terrorist activities. Who needed to record the brothers Dovbash and Marat Yunusov among the "main suspects" in the terrorist act in Brussels, is still unknown.
Head of the Security Service of Ukraine as a provocateur
In light of the tragedy in Belgium, one cannot but pay attention to the behavior of Ukrainian politicians. The head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasily Gritsak openly declared that the Russian Federation could be involved in the terrorist attacks in Belgium. He spoke these words at a public lecture at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. It is difficult to imagine the degree of cynicism that Ukrainian leaders have reached, allowing themselves to express such versions. Naturally, Russian leaders promptly responded to the words of Gritsak. And the correct words in order to characterize this person, they did not have. Yes, and they would hardly be appropriate after such a statement.
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on his page wrote in plain text: "The head of the SBU Gritsak, who declared Russia was involved in the terrorist attacks in Brussels, is a moron." Head of the Presidential Administration Sergei Ivanov called the word “moron” used to describe Gritsak “very successful”, but noted that “the only thing (word) from medical psychology comes to mind: I can only remember the word“ degenerate ”” . By the way, Russians - both politicians and activists, and ordinary citizens, with deep sympathy perceived the pain of ordinary Belgians after this terrible tragedy. Flowers continue to be brought to the Belgian embassy in Moscow, and the deputies from the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia have also laid flowers, which are difficult to suspect in pro-Western sympathies. Deep condolences to the people of Belgium expressed the head of the Russian government, Dmitry Medvedev.
"Non-Belgian" Belgium
Brussels became a target of terrorists not only because it is the “capital” of the European Union and NATO. The fact is that the crime situation in the capital of Belgium in recent years has seriously deteriorated. This is associated, firstly, with the low efficiency of the work of the Belgian police and special services, as we can see from the example of the militants who are successfully running around the country. Secondly, another important reason is the change in the national and confessional composition of the population of the Belgian capital. Some areas of the city turned into enclaves of immigrants from North and West Africa, the Middle East. A significant proportion of migrants do not work, live on benefits or illegal incomes. The Belgian police are unable to bring order there, crime and drug trafficking are flourishing in these areas. It is not surprising that the “enclaves of instability” became the breeding grounds for extremist and terrorist groups, and the marginalized environment of the first and second wave migrants turned into fertile ground for the recruitment of militants.
