Syria: Five Years of Hot War and Unprecedented Resistance
Perhaps this is a record of modern NATO resistance to fascist expansion - a small country has been holding a strong blow for five years. Five long years of hot, incessant war. This war can not be called civil - in fact it is the direct aggression of the United States, Western countries and their allies in the Gulf. Terrible symbiosis of petrodollars, weapons, information and political technologies formed to destroy the Syrian Arab Republic - the state in which 23 had a million people before the war; a state that has spent many years under various sanctions; a state that does not have modern killing machines ...
But this state had other resources that were not taken into account by the enemies from the beginning: perseverance, courage, historical anti-colonial traditions, patriotism.
Western strategists did not know when they began their barbaric campaign against Syria, that a simple soldier, left without an arm and without a leg, would say: "I still have one hand to hold the machine gun, and one foot to stand on guard of the Motherland." That a simple law enforcement officer is able to hose the second car bomb when the first one exploded and everything burns around to prevent detonation. And they could not even imagine that a slim, very intelligent and smiling doctor who wanted to treat children’s eyes would be a soldier who turned out to be intimidated by no threats.
15 March 2011 broke out in a collision in a city in southern Syria - Daraa. As usual for pseudo-revolutions, it all started with the so-called “peaceful demonstrations”, which, however, immediately resulted in throwing stones at policemen and burning administrative buildings. Then - the same "peaceful demonstrations" in Hama, Idlebe, Homs: "We are with you, Dara." Damascus did not escape the pogroms ... Even in Latakia and Tartus - cities where the support of legitimate power is the highest - and those were provocations.
Being in Syria, I communicated with many eyewitnesses of those events. Everyone claimed in one voice: “the demonstrators” behaved extremely aggressively from the very beginning. Initially, the police, who were thrown with a hail of stones, did not even have the right to answer - they only helplessly tried to hide behind shields.
However, this can not last long - naturally, the authorities had to restore order. And they started screaming in the style of "onizdeti" ... Somehow very quickly the weapons of the "demonstrators" appeared in their hands. The world's media talked about the "shooting by the regime of peaceful demonstrations" - and for a long time there was no talk of any "peace". The “peaceful demonstrators” turned into armed fighters who committed terrible crimes against ordinary citizens.
But, while piles of pogroms smashed shops, attacked policemen, and then quickly armed themselves — hundreds of thousands of people came out onto the streets of Damascus, Aleppo, and other cities with portraits of President Bashar Al-Assad and with national flags. Of course, these huge demonstrations also played a role in the fact that the brazen coup did not take place in the very first weeks (as external patrons of the “opposition” wanted it).
There were various attempts to resolve the crisis in peace. With the beginning of the crisis, Bashar Al-Asad proclaimed reforms, repealed the law on the state of emergency, introduced a multi-party system, changed the government. But it was not the peace and not reforms that the “opposition” wanted, and most importantly, those who stood behind it and who armed it.
These serious uncles across the ocean need only one thing from the victim country: capitulation. But they did not get it.
Exactly five years have passed. Half the country in ruins. Most of the supposedly “democratic” opposition groups turned into a terrible Islamist force - ISIS. Destroyed a huge number of cultural property. The beautiful Thekla Monastery in Maalühl, the pilgrimage site of millions of Christians, was burned. There are no more famous Aleppo indoor markets built during the time of Alexander the Great. The great Umayyad mosque in Aleppo is turned into ruins. The Palmyra Arch, which we all saw on the cover of history textbooks, stood for many centuries to be destroyed by new barbarians ...
Sometimes whole streets are wiped into dust. Scolded shrines ...
Hundreds of thousands of people - both military and civilian - lie in the graves. Many died a horrible death under the torture of "opposition" militants. Like, for example, the director of the museum of Palmyra, the old doctor Khalid Asaad, who had been asking for a long time where valuables were hidden, and then his decapitated body hung on the ruins ... Tens of thousands of people were kidnapped and went missing. Do not count the tears of widows and orphans.
However, five years later, the wounded Syria is still standing. And continues to resist.
And now, during the strange geopolitical games around the SAR, we can say one thing. Up until the end of September last year, Syria fought completely alone. Yes, there was some veto on the part of Russia in the UN Security Council, bombing in August 2013 of the year, after a cynical provocation with chemical weapons, was prevented. But the support was purely political. But Russian troops entered the battle only at the end of September 2015 of the year. Until this time, Damascus has already shown its resilience.
And now, regardless of any decisions - Syria will also fight heroically. Because defeating terrorism is a super goal for the Syrian people.
Whatever the end of this hot battle, Syria and Bashar Al-Asad have already emerged victorious. At least - the moral winners, confusing the US and NATO all the plans. This epic victory cost the Syrians a huge price - but where and when were victories obtained easily?
In any case, the SAR is a state that has proven that it is not a soulless thing, not a commodity, and not a subject of bargaining at a global auction. Syria is, first of all, an unbroken country ... Both today and tomorrow it will again be proved by ordinary soldiers, trying to attack. Will prove ordinary women, going to work. And it will prove the fragile and smiling leader, inside of which turned out to be a steel rod of unprecedented strength.
In peaceful neighborhoods, life goes on. Damask roses are still sprouting through the flames of war ...
