AXALP 2015 Airshow in the mountains

16

Northrop F-5E Tiger II, AXALP 2015, Switzerland

A huge number of different aviation events are held in the world, and only a couple of three of them are known to the general public. Starting to dive into aviation mathematics looking at photos from various events it is sometimes difficult to understand at which event this or that photo was taken. But there are several places where air shows are held, photos from which are recognizable. An excellent example is Axalp. The name of this village, located in the foothills of the Alps in Switzerland, called the airshow held annually. Photos with a characteristic mountain landscape and unusual angles can not be confused.

Venue airshow Axalp noteworthy in itself, without any additional entertainment programs. Fresh, clean mountain air, breathtaking landscapes for a city dweller it all seems like a miracle. But it is worth remembering that to the point of shooting you have to go on foot or on the plain, and climb into the mountains. A steep climb plus height diminishes your strength very quickly. And although the route in the understanding of experienced grated tourists is simple, for the untrained city dweller it is a real test of endurance.
It is also worth noting that holding an air show is very much dependent on the weather, which is very changeable in the mountains. It often happens that when you come to the point of shooting and wait half a day waiting, the weather does not allow you to hold a show and you have to go back empty-handed. Cancellation AXALP airshow, due to adverse weather conditions, a common phenomenon. 2015 was not an exception. All two official days were canceled due to bad weather, but I still managed to make some interesting shots.

    Cool photos "+".
It is worth adding that the age of the Swiss F-5E Tiger II fighters has already exceeded 30 years.

Nice to say. And the mountains here are no worse, and in some places much better. You only need to put your hands and head to beauty.

F-5 - a successful light fighter, which the Americans did not appreciate
and almost never used in Vietnam. There the MiG-21 was successfully applied
blows from below on F-4 Phantoms loaded with bombs.
F-5s could block Phantoms and reduce losses. But the Americans
for a long time believed that Phantoms, powerfully fighting at height, should themselves
protect. Say, why cover a fighter with a fighter?

“In 1986, in the film“ Top Gun, ”Lieutenant Pete“ The Tramp ”Mitchell (Tom Cruise) fought back the MiG-28, which had no NATO codename and no expressed nationality.
They were nothing more than the American Northtop F-5, which in those days were used as aggressor aircraft to teach unequal air combat at real TOPGUN seminars (now known as the US Navy Fighter Weapons School). F-5s in the role of 28 MiGs were painted black to commemorate their villainous nature and remained to live with this color after the filming was completed "/////

Of course, the MiG-28, but what about! only repainted from villainous black back to natural color. fellow

in the same Wikipedia - only South Vietnam received more than 200. But there is little about the battles with the MiG21, but after the war the captured F-5s were sent to the USSR and - in training matches - it always defeated the MiG21bis (18 times). But this is in the near maneuvering, therefore there was a recommendation - not to enter the bl.boy, to use the "shot and run away" tactic.

If the author is Kaptsov, then the F-5s were already booked at the waterline, so in our close combat there was nothing for us to do, only to run away without a shot even.
