Austrian sniper weapons will replace the famous Dragunov rifle in Russian intelligence

“The main task of the reconnaissance units of the Russian Airborne Forces in 2012 will be to master the new Austrian Mannlicher system sniper rifles, which have already entered service,” Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Kucherenko, spokesman for the Airborne Forces, made a statement on Friday to correspondents of ITAR-TASS.

The Dragunov sniper rifle (SVD) of a millimeter caliber 7,62 has been used by Russian Army snipers for combat missions up to the present. Remain in service with special rifles for silent shooting (BCC) caliber nine millimeters, SVD-S with a folding butt and the legendary Vintorez.

The planned rearmament of the snipers of the Ministry of Defense expected to begin in early autumn. The military noted the fact that the SVD does not meet the modern requirements of combat and snipers need rifles that are twice as high as the SVD characteristics.

As you can see, the choice fell on the Steyr Mannlicher SSG 04 sniper rifle from Austria, designed for snipers, who are faced with the task of hitting the target at a greater distance than the sighting range of the SVD. The production of this product is the Austrian company Steyr-Mannlicher AG.

Austrian sniper weapons will replace the famous Dragunov rifle in Russian intelligence

Rifle Presentation: Steyr Mannlicher SSG 04

The Mannlicher rifle has a caliber exactly the same as the Dragunov rifle - a millimeter 7,62, and there is exactly the same magazine for ten rounds. Unlike the SVD, the Austrian offspring has a more powerful cartridge, thanks to which the slaughter and aiming range is immeasurably longer than that of the Dragunov rifle. With Mannlicher, you can hit a target at a distance of more than one kilometer, while the SVD has an aimed range of only 800 meters.

The undoubted advantage of the Mannicher rifle is an excellent build quality, 14-multiple more advanced sight with a fundamentally different method of attachment, individual settings for firing a particular sniper, while taking into account his anatomical features. Of course, there are some nuances: the comments of the experts touched the shutter. It is made according to the longitudinally sliding principle, and when used, constant manual reloading is a requirement. At the same time, the advantage of this embodiment is the better accuracy of fire compared to the SVD.

Despite these characteristics of Mannlicher, the Dragunov rifle is not going to be written off as scrap for the leadership of the intelligence unit. In the future, the use of two types of rifles for solving various combat missions.

We must pay tribute to our weapons. SVD was developed in 1958-1963 by the design office under the strict guidance of Evgeniy Dragunov. Automatic recharge shutter, was developed by the type of Kalashnikov assault rifle - the energy of the powder gases brought the firing pin into a state of combat by diverting gases from the barrel to the gas piston. The “undercarriage” cartridge used at that time in 7,62 × 54 mm caliber was offered both with an ordinary bullet and armor-piercing, tracer and sniper. SVD also equipped with expansive bullets. Firing was proposed to conduct single shots, with the possibility of picking with a PSO-1 telescopic sight and the possibility of installing NSPUM night sights.

Having responded to the new developments of our design bureaus, such as: a rifle, piercing an BTR with its bullet, and a machine gun with underwater ammunition, the task of updating small arsenals weapons on more modernized options has become one of the most important tasks of the Ministry of Defense. Despite its prestige throughout the world, the Kalashnikov assault rifle has also been criticized by analysts. The “accusation” side stressed that this model was outdated long ago and was unable to effectively perform combat missions. The Ministry of Defense made a statement on the termination of the purchase of this type of weapon, explaining that the warehouses are already overflowing with "Kalash". "Izhmash" promptly responded to this criticism, starting to develop a new type of weapon even before the start of the competition for the development of new-generation machines. Designers put the AK-12 dignity at the forefront - being able to use it with one hand, to which the military department reacted with the suspicion that the new sample would copy all the flaws of the AK-47, as it is created on its basis.

The Russian defense industry, in the person of its experts, stresses that the weapons produced by them are not inferior to foreign counterparts, and also surpasses them, which was presented last week in Klimovsk. The meeting of the scientific and technical council of the Military Industrial Commission under the Government of Russia, on the basis of the demonstration complex of the Central Research Institute of Precision Engineering, was able to inspect the development of small arms.

Viktor Litovkin, a columnist for the Independent Military Survey, highlighted the most interesting and promising model of the two-medium ADS machine (working on land and under water) of 12,7 caliber of millimeters. The range of aimed shooting, though 800 meters, is equipped with an underwater silent grenade in a grenade launcher weighing 80 grams and has the ability to hit the enemy with both conventional and underwater cartridges.

A pistol shooting under water with a cartridge caliber 9x19 Gryazev-Shipunova was presented for review. It differs in the capacity of the store (18 cartridges) and low weight.

Striking combat characteristics rifles ADF and ASH-12. These rifles, with a subsonic bullet, at a distance of 600 meters are able to penetrate the armor of an BTR. They are equipped with silencers, a four-element armor-piercing ammunition, a modern fire control device that contains a ballistic computer that automatically corrects the sight depending on the air temperature and atmospheric pressure, as well as a range finder. But, according to the manufacturers, this type of rifles is purchased by the Ministry of Defense at best for another two years.

According to the NWO, the refusal of the Defense Ministry to buy mass-produced small arms and the accompanying means of supporting the battle is a factor that affects the stable operation of even the oldest and most famous defense enterprises. This problem has become one of the acute topics raised at a meeting of the scientific and technical council of the Military-Industrial Commission under the government.

To the question raised by the meeting participants to the military, about the unreasonably low orders of the Ministry of Defense for melee weapons, that this is one of the main factors affecting the stability of enterprises involved in the production of this type of weaponry, the military could not answer. The defense also expressed their bewilderment about the refusal to buy modern weapons from the defense industrial complex, emphasizing that such an approach to the orders of the military department leads to a reduction in staff and contradicts economic laws.

In the procurement strategy of the Defense Ministry, the decisive role is often played not by the fighting qualities of a weapon, but by Messrs. Raspil and Otkat.

An interesting device, I myself am fond of weapons and for the first time I see it. But it is confusing that it is mostly metal .... fasteners for mounting sights and ext. The equipment, I believe, should be made of high-strength plastic. In general, a maximum of plastic parts. IMHO of course.
And again, what kind of metal is there and there, accuracy of shooting and processing also depends on it ... Eh, we would have good machines and high-quality metal and a law permitting such things to be bought ..... then they would have gone for a walk .... .Well, look at nanotechnology, they’ll say your word ...

Instead of giving the task to develop a new one or at least take into production what is ... Dependence on a foreigner. And she's not self-loading yet. No, I understand that this is not a drawback, but still ... Yes, the same SVD can simply be produced with good quality, as in the 60s.

a sniper rifle, in principle, cannot be self-loading - the accuracy is much inferior in comparison with sliding bolts. from this it follows that the SVD is by no means a sniper rifle. she is a "weapon of support"

SVD is an army sniper weapon. An army sniper, I mean the one that is staffed in each department, is yesterday's schoolboy who completed his training and was sent to the troops. And it is not his task to shoot at "a distance of more than a kilometer." his task is simple - to maintain his separation with his fire.
That's just the top of the MO seems fiercely hates both our armed forces, and our state itself. By definition, they cannot do anything good with them in Russia.

the figure does not depict SVD at all, but some kind of hybrid AK + SVD. Something was made in Romania.
Shteyr-Manlicher SSG 04 has a caliber .308 i.e. 7,62 * 51mm. due to a whiter shorter sleeve and a lower charge of gunpowder, such a cartridge is approximately 10% weaker than 7,62 * 54R. or in this case there will be another cartridge?

      there 2 rounds go - 7.62x51mmNATO (.308Win), 7.62x63B (.300 Win Mag)

      7.62x51 NATO / .308 Winchester / 7.62x51 NATO / .308 Winchester
The 7.62x51 NATO cartridge, one of the most popular rifle, machine gun and hunting ammunition of the second half of the 20th century, began its history in the 1950s, when, as part of the "light rifle" program for the US Army, a whole line of cartridges was developed under the general T65 index. The main goal in the creation of T65 cartridges was to reproduce the ballistic characteristics of the .30-06 M2 rifle and machine gun cartridge with a significant reduction in the dimensions of the new ammunition. As a result, in 1955, a variant of the T65 cartridge with a 51mm bottle-shaped sleeve was adopted by the US Army and standardized within the NATO bloc. A significant number of army rifles and machine guns have been and are being produced under this cartridge in the world. In the mid-1950s, the American company Winchester released a commercial version of this cartridge under the designation .308 Winchester, and today this cartridge is one of the most popular in the world for hunting and target shooting. Civilian weapons and ammunition in this caliber are produced in almost all parts of the world where there is a weapons or cartridge production.

      .300 Winchester Magnum / .300 Winchester Magnum
This cartridge was developed in the 1950s by the American company Winchester as a powerful and long-range hunting ammunition. Over time, this cartridge has gained some popularity as a long-range sniper cartridge, providing an effective firing range of up to 1000-1200 meters. Weapons (sniper rifles) in this caliber are limitedly used in the US armed forces and in a number of law enforcement agencies. On the civilian market, weapons for this cartridge are quite popular for hunting big game and are produced in many countries of the world.

      7.62x54R
The 7.62x54R Russian cartridge is one of the oldest military cartridges still in service today. It was adopted by the Russian army in 1891 and is still widely used in sniper rifles and machine guns. In addition to the USSR and Russia, this cartridge was used in many countries of the former Warsaw Pact, in China and a number of other countries where Soviet or Chinese-made weapons were supplied. In addition to military versions, civilian versions of this cartridge are also produced for target sports shooting and hunting. Unlike most modern cartridges, the Russian "three-line" cartridge (3 lines = 0.3 inches, a caliber equivalent to 7.62mm in the outdated Russian system of measures) has a protruding rim, which, on the one hand, simplifies the positioning of the cartridge in the chamber (at one time this allowed several reduce the cost of weapons production), and on the other, it creates serious problems in the development of self-loading and automatic weapons power systems.

In principle, the western system is more convenient, there are 3 calibers at different distances ... IMHO

The problem is not to replace it (it needs to be supplemented), the SVD has its own niche (it would have more powerful optics) ...
Alternatively, you can enter the American system of shooters:
Sniper - specially trained and trained arrows of a loner and a pair, with skills:
      - precision firing,
      - methods and methods of applying camouflage on the ground,
      - penetration into the rear of the enemy,
      - subversive training
      - battery life without the support of other units.

They work either independently or in conjunction with other snipers.
In terms of armament rifles - rifles, static on the battlefield, camouflaged, firing at long distances (more than 2000 meters)

Marksman is the same shooter who has undergone special training and has the skills:
      - high-precision shooting at small and medium distances,
      - work on the battlefield in close contact or even as part of (attached for a while) with ground operations units. Those. not working on its own. It is an organic part of the unit performing a fairly large amount of work both in shooting and identification and aiming. Weapons as Rifles and standard assault rifles with special. sights, automatic rifles brought to the state of precision battle weapons.
      - Not static, moves with the unit
      - Does not apply camouflage on the ground
      - Distances of effective damage to 800 meters
All three are precision arrows. As part of the US Armed Forces, all three can use self-loading rifles. Differences in application level.
Marksman - the marking man - as part of his unit, tracks down the enemy and marks him with his shooting, including incendiary and similar ammunition to hit the target with the remaining arrows of his troops. This does not negate his ability to destroy the enemy’s manpower and spoil his equipment - but his main duty is to track down and show the enemy to the rest. In English, the term has been fixed since ancient times, and perhaps as a translation: a Marxman is a shooter, firing the first arrow with a bright plumage to the most important target, and thus showing the rest of the archers where this target is and how shear air flows are distributed.
Sharpshooter - an accurate shooter - as part of his unit, tracks down the enemy and independently destroys his most important targets. This term is relatively fresh, and was recorded only in the 18th century with the development of rifled firearms, which made it possible to shoot far and accurately.
Sniper - hunter - as directed by the hunter carries out the hunt for the specified goals of the enemy. Dixi. This term has been known in English since the 13th century, and refers to the snipe hunter, who well notice the threat and move quickly.
And for the weapons they use:
The Marxman bolt is nonsense: its accuracy is not needed for working with machine gunners and machine gunners, but its slowness will reduce the rate of re-shot and the convenience of changing ammunition. Therefore, the Marxman only self-loading (semi- and automatic) types of rifles.
Sharpshooter bolts are a rarity. Accuracy at their usual distances (up to about 250 meters) does not differ too much from the calibrated self-loading barrel.

      Speaking very rudely, then:
A sniper is a self-acting unit armed with precision weapons.
Marxman - armed with precision weapons, acting in the interests of a particular unit.
Sharpshuter - armed with precision weapons, operating as part of the unit.

General - accurate shooting and partly weapons.
Miscellaneous - teaching methods, work, skills and the actual tasks and mechanism of application ... "

then the structure of the units needs to be changed, but in general about SVD you should not, in buildings, try to bend longitudinally, sliding or jamming .. or cut off on the rear fire, the exact automation is for the ex SA unit itself, but for the NATO members it’s neither m21 nor m24 not taken root, the structure of the unit is such, a NATO platoon stumbling into opposition in buildings causes an air strike, therefore, as you say, the Marxman is ... unnecessary, after which there is a sweep. an ex-SA platoon solves the problem of counteraction on its own, here the SVD itself is, rather than a fucking shutter, in order to increase the characteristics of the SVD, it is enough to return the old barrel cut, make the barrel with ceramic elements, and introduce a rollback damper, and it will beat for another hundred years enemy, and all foreign junk will remain junk

In order to move their brains, it is necessary to clearly set a military task, for example: create a cartridge and a rifle that must meet such and such requirements. Allocate money for this and ask whether they did it or not. And why. to Western models and say "oh what a swag, we are not capable of creating such a thing." Of course, not capable of, if the task of creating is not set.
They will set the task of creating a slingshot with a ballistic computer and laser guidance, they will create it. But the task must be posed.

Have you encountered the quality of modern rifles? how to name a weapon in which the chrome plating of the barrel flies out through the barrel along with the bullet, acquaintances faced with this. the quality is falling catastrophically - MO does not make production costs - workers leave - the order arrives and there is no one to fulfill it, while the factory stood, the workers went where their labor was paid.
Until there is a wide market INSIDE the country, good weapons will not be produced

Mannlicher is a vesch! Even in the pre-revolutionary books about Mannlicher, a lot of good things were written. It's an urgent mess, that is, to steal the technology, change the color of the stock and butt to "wood" and pass off as, for example, Kazakh know-how (working name "Karamultuk-1Y")! No need to ask why "Y"! And then "change" for the AK-74 written off from the army by weight.

Viktor Litovkin, a columnist for the "Independent Military Review", especially noted as the most interesting and promising model of a two-medium assault rifle ADS (operating on land and under water), 12,7 mm caliber. The aimed firing range, although 800 meters, is equipped with an underwater, silent grenade in a grenade weighing 80 grams

Horses mixed up in a heap, people ... The ADS is not ASH-12 at all - the ADS is two-medium, ASH-12 is large-caliber, although they are made on the basis of one ancestor.
Pomegranate weighing 80 grams? In my opinion it’s some kind of nonsense, someone messed up something, an eighty-grenade is some kind of cracker. For example, with amers, an ordinary grenade weighs 200 grams, we have one and a half to two times more.
But, according to the manufacturers, this type of rifle is purchased by the Ministry of Defense, at best, another two years.

In the original HBO article, this phrase sounded in the sense that at best they buy a couple of samples a year. Agree, the meaning is completely different.

The authors of both articles (on NVO and here) do not care. For the loggers.

The OTs-14 "Groza" assault rifle was created on the basis of the receiver and the mechanisms of the AKS-74U assault rifle - the main changes concerned the adaptation of the shutter to another cartridge with a large diameter of the sleeve bottom, and the firing mechanism.

The A-91 automatic grenade launcher system (sometimes also referred to as the A-91M designation) was developed at the Tula Instrument Design Bureau (KBP) under the guidance of the famous weapons designer V.P. Gryazev.
When creating the A-91, the developers decided to get rid of the main problems associated with the bullpup layout - the ejection of spent cartridges from the shooter's face itself when firing from the left shoulder, and the center of gravity shifted to the rear of the weapon. The second problem was solved by simply installing a massive grenade launcher in front of the weapon, and to solve the first problem, a scheme was developed with the cartridges removed from the receiver forward through a special channel that runs along the breech of the barrel and leads the cartridges out to the right, just behind the pistol grip. A similar idea was partially implemented in the Belgian assault rifle FN F2000, however, for the first time a similar scheme was implemented in the experimental assault rifles of Korobov and Afanasyev, created in the USSR in the 1960s.
They did not stand nearby! (Thunderstorm and A-91)
The A-91M assault rifle developed by the same Tula Instrument-Making Plant was adopted as the base. The two-medium special ADS assault rifle inherited from the prototype the bullpup configuration with the wide use of plastics in the design of the weapon body, as well as the general arrangement of mechanisms with gas-operated automatics, locking the barrel with a rotary bolt and ejection of spent cartridges forward through a short tube passing to the right of the barrel to the rear base of the carrying handle weapons. A water / air environment switch was introduced into the design of the gas venting mechanism, and the design elements of the machine were revised to ensure operation in water.

Actually, the SVD is self-loading, and is not intended for firing bursts or otherwise automatic
Alexandr_K He's right Passing and they are all the same army sniper

In the West, they make the same army sniper, and the SVD refers to them (massive and relatively cheap) on the basis of standard assault rifles, Galil, G-3, M-14, FN-FAL, AUG call.7,62, etc. . Changing only the barrel to a heavier butt, plus a bar with optics and an extra bipod for stable shooting.

Manlicher has been familiar since tsarist times since the First World War, when the tsarist army used the trophy standard rifles of the manlichera of the Austro-Hungarian army, then they were used as civilian by all warring parties

Here is a manual reloading manlycher for a special operation where one-shot type jewelry is needed = one defeat, at a long distance where the enemy will not get out of his army rifle.

Army SVD for medium distances is used by soldiers of the squad, platoons, etc. regular units of the army for use in combined arms combat, where practical rate of fire is more important. (Well, I didn’t hit one enemy officer, you can still aim and immediately shoot while sitting in a trench or dugout, along the chain of the attacking enemy, someone will definitely click)

The SVU sniper rifle (Shortened sniper rifle) is a modification of the Dragunov sniper rifle (SVD). The development was carried out at the end of the 70s at the Central Design and Research Bureau of Sports and Hunting Weapons under the leadership of L. V. Bondarev. The main task of the developers was to create a reduction in the size of a sniper rifle without sacrificing shooting accuracy. The solution was found in the rework of the SVD according to the "bullpup" scheme.

The development of a shortened SVD-based sniper rifle designed for the Airborne Forces began at the TsKIB SOO in the 1970s, but then it didn’t reach industrial production. In the early 1990s, the rifle was offered to the Ministry of the Interior as a sniper weapon for urban conditions. The Ministry of Internal Affairs adopted the IEDs, and also demanded to develop an option with the possibility of firing continuous bursts. Such a “sniper rifle” received the designation SVU-AS (“shortened, automatic, bipod sniper rifle”, also designated OTs-03AS).

The permanent wooden stock has been replaced by a plastic pistol grip and a lightweight, folding to the right stock with a plastic shoulder rest, fixed cheek and tube to hold with your left hand when shooting from the stop. The gas outlet unit has been improved, the arrester has been changed, and the gas regulator has been excluded. The walls of the barrel are thickened, which increased its strength, reduced heating and vibrations during firing. The strengthening of the receiver increased the stability of the mounting of the optical sight. The former forend assembly is replaced by a plastic forend and a barrel trim.

The barrel is shortened by 100 mm, the gas chamber is shifted back. The increased loads on the piston rod of the gas piston required special measures to prevent its breakdown - this was accomplished by the hinged earring on the rod resting against the wall of the vent pipe. The connection of the trigger with the trigger is a trigger rod mounted along the left wall of the receiver. The firing accuracy turned out to be lower than the “standard” SVD, since the sample was designed for “hasty” work at shorter ranges up to close combat. By accuracy, the VCA was comparable to the German PSG-1. To reduce the impact on the recoil arrow, there is an elastic butt plate - a shoulder rest and a three-chamber muzzle device. The recoil pad is not rigidly fixed to the receiver, is equipped with a leaf spring and can slightly turn forward, absorbing part of the recoil energy. The muzzle device is complex and simultaneously plays the role of a muzzle brake, which absorbs up to 40% of recoil energy, a compensator-weight, which reduces the barrel’s vibrations and shifts the center of gravity of the weapon and the flame arrester forward.

    The options are:
    VCA - the basic option.
SVU-A - an option with the possibility of firing continuous bursts.
SVU-AS - a variant of SVU-A, characterized by the presence of a folding bipod mounted to the receiver using a special bracket. Thanks to the hinge, they can rotate laterally 90 degrees to abut against a wall or wood. The telescopic bipod has 4 height adjustments (maximum - 320 mm).

Purchasing a rifle with a sliding bolt. Congratulations on returning to the 1950s? Then just in service in the army, which was already fully equipped with automation, there remained the only relic of the wars of the past - a mosquito with PO-2. To eliminate this flaw, an automatic military sniper was ordered for a fleeting modern battle.
The Steyr Mannlicher SSG 04 is a great hunting rifle! In Europe it costs 1200 euros, in the CIS about 650 thousand rubles. If you have a license, you can buy. The rifle is intended for hunting middle European game - wild boar, deer. So it was designed, and therefore the longitudinal breech, that hunting is not war. Steyr-Mannlicher generally specializes in hunting carbines. They are already slightly modified. purchased by the police and some armies in small quantities. It is not profitable to develop specifically for the war - specialized purchases are too small.
Ours, apparently, bought exactly the hunting option. Maybe only with some refinement - an adjustable butt with a cheek and bipod. In this configuration, you can also buy as a civilian weapon.
Austrian special forces, mountain units and police acquired about 200 of these rifles. During operation, they offer improvements. In particular, the plastic box was replaced with an aluminum one with plastic pads. So from a military point of view, this weapon is far from perfect.
There is no sight and no sight, but there is a Picatinny rail. Optics sold separately.
The biggest plus is the high precision cold forging trunks. Hence the branded waviness of the outer surface, especially clearly visible in the breech area. It is appreciated by hunters for a peculiar beauty.
Each rifle is sold with the application of a control target - 3 shots per 100 meters. As a rule, a bullet in a bullet or a difference of 1 mm. The bullet parameters and the batch number of cartridges are also indicated there. Since hunting in a mountain forest 100 m is the usual distance to the target, it is impressive.
But the cartridges must be purchased precisely with a batch of one number, so that when you shoot, you can already hunt quietly. Since large animals are not hunted every day, a batch of 400 pieces will last for many years. In the army, of course, there will be problems. Especially in a combat situation, when any rifle and machine gun cartridge is suitable for the SVD, and for manlicherovka it will be necessary to get a corporate one.
For rent, the Austrians were bought by the authorities. to shoot wild boars in the MO hunting farm. I am a supporter of the SVD. Maybe it's a habit. But let's take a standard exercise - "head" at 150-200 m, which appears for 10 seconds. From the SVD I managed to shoot aiming 2-3 times and hit the same number of times, and pull the bolt ...

What difference does it make, what kind of game is a wild boar or a person. Why is man better than a boar?
as far as I know, the skull of a wild boar is much stronger than the skull of an average person.

It was a long time in childhood when I was 12 years old, with the Union. my uncle is an avid hunter, invited his father (his middle brother) to hunt wild boars. the father hunted a friend from his enterprise, chapters. engineer, and took me. While we were riding in a Polish minibus, this is a day to the place. This engineer engineer turned out to be very talkative and laughed all the time (he still didn’t like me at the same time), my father and uncle also laughed together with him, in a word, the soul of society. especially he told relishly as when in his youth he hunted pheasants.

In general, we arrived at the place. local ladder and people familiar from the hunting union issued a pair of three-wheeled Ural motorcycles with cradles. We went to the tugai and became an ambush near the river. where they come to drink.

closer to dinner a hog-hog came up and stood peering in our direction. Out of respect, this engineer was given the right to the first shot, while saying that he had to shoot in the forehead. He fired a shot and ... hit between the head and body where the boar's neck is. The boar was wounded, everyone crouched down from his screeching, wounded and in a rage, nothing as I understood without realizing the boar ran in our direction, having quickly overcome the distance, the boar hit his head on the motorcycle in the cradle of which I was sitting, or rather the blow fell on the cradles where I was peacefully (or at attention) sat. I still remember this blow. the Ural overturned and stood upright, the cradle on top and the motorcycle on its side. I fell out of the cradle and hit the ground.

The uncle and father reacted instantly, at a point-blank shot the boar was overwhelmed .. After they came to their senses, they looked where the engineer was, he was hiding behind the cradle of another motorcycle, stuck his head out, and now I remember his expression, his eyes were round, and his bald head sparkles with sweat. I myself got scared later when I realized what happened and could happen.

Since then, I know that the boar runs so that the moped will overtake effortlessly, and his skull is strong.

The main French sniper rifle for the Army and special forces is made on the basis of a hunting rifle, which is in demand in the world, especially in Africa, there are many different and dangerous animals (elephants, rhinos, lions). And now it has two civil options (civilian with optics ) military (military, in many versions, to this day)

What is the difference - boar or man?
The fundamental difference. The man will have a machine gun in his hands, and he will beat out of it on the run while you pull the shutter. And he will enter from your grenade launcher directly into your sniper nest.
From a self-loading SVD, in case of a miss for a second, I can fix things. Even if I was sprinkled with earth after a close explosion and the dust is in a cloud. But I’m not sure about the Manlicher - he does not have such gaps.

To know which types of weapons are most popular with snipers, it’s enough to go to international competitions. And you can see everything .... Although, I think that Russia itself can make snipers of this level, or even better .... There are many examples. ..

What kind of sports should I go to?
I have not heard anything about sniper competitions.
But the Germans in biathlon are now training mainly with Izhevsk rifles, and even more often with them in competitions.
But our trainers stubbornly refuse domestic, because you have to pay for them. And the Germans give them rifles for free. But then at the competition, these German rifles then lose their clip, then they shut the bolt.
In pistol shooting, all Izhevsk sports pistols are used.

        Hunt,
I don’t want to say, don’t know such things ?! about the competition.

Just give a link if you are interested in this topic, at least you yourself are positioning yourself that way. Starting in 1997, unofficial sniper competitions have been held in the Russian Federation (specifically, if we take the Russian Federation) among special forces of different power structures. FSB, MVD, FSO. They come there from the CIS countries and compete in pairs. They are held in the Abinsky district, Krasnodar Territory, the organizer of these competitions is special. from the anti-terror unit Viktor Lisovsky, who died in 2001 (tragic can be said)

There are also about the team, all the intricacies of sniper business, and about sniper weapons, too, is an assessment, in the words of the participants. And what weapons do snipers come to the competition from near and far abroad.

I was not too lazy to remember and found an e-version of the magazine "Soldier of Fortune" which I read about three years ago (printed version), bought in one of the newsstands in another country. I left there, but I remembered all the same.

"Soldier of Fortune" 2006. number 1-2 continued. Link

and if something artistic look for the soul. There was such a film, "snipers", made in the USA. There are about two snipers from the special services. Sent on a mission to central America, without support, to eliminate the drug defense that is objectionable to the United States. Film of the 90s, I remember watching after the army as I returned. From the Russian, you can probably, with Pevtsov, also "Snipers. The Hour of Retribution" is called, released recently, (he was chased around the central ones). There, during the Second World War, there is a case and immediately after the war. snipers with manual reloading. Although the film is so fictional in terms of the plot, you can look

Manliher is an old, respected company, established itself even before the First World War. But the purchase of weapons from the West will not bring to good, IMHO. We have the prototypes themselves above the roof, good samples. Taburetkin-taburetkin, when will you be removed ....

Oh my friend! God bless your words!
I have infinite respect for Steyr and Manliher, there is something! But, the Russian school of weapons was a floor or a full head taller, on the issue of comparison, you can argue with many markers for a long time and not come to a conclusion. Since sniper business is INDIVIDUAL! But, again, only at the highest level with certain tasks, let’s say so with piece tasks.
An army sniper must be armed with domestic weapons. This is not so much a matter of prestige as a purely technical matter. Ammunition and components during the conduct of hostilities - each time contact the supplier? And if the supplier is an enemy?
The stupidity of Stools is understandable, he is not a military man and he evaluates everything from movies and not in reality. In addition, there is a corruption component in the supply, the conclusion is simple.

. At the same time, for example, three dozen sniper rifles bought for paratroopers by the Austrian company Mannliher, of course, showed their advantage even over the modernized version of the Soviet-Russian SVD in range, accuracy of fire and the ability to adapt to the individual anatomical features of the shooters. But at the same time, they turned out to be completely unsuitable for the Russian frost and the real field conditions in which our landing force operates. Therefore, according to the commander of the Airborne Forces, Colonel-General Vladimir Shamanov, new companies are now developing new sniper rifles for Russian paratroopers.

People! And what if we make the SVD the ability to fire without recharging the shutter. The point is to represent the loss of pressure of the powder gases when fired. If you need more accurate and long-range shooting or increase the power of the shot. I read such a technique for AK in the book "Chechen war. Correcting mistakes" page 91. In short, if necessary, fire is carried out with a semi-automatic, at closer distances in a combat situation to support their own in battle. And if a one-night job where a shot is more accurate and further is needed (it's good if there are other options, but if there is only SVD?) Well, make the same opportunity for machine guns (blocking the shutter reloading). It is possible to come up with a stopper for the shutter in the nigu, they propose to fix it with a piece of wire at the belt attachment point. On the Internet, they proposed to make a valve for the channel of the powder gases outlets into the gas outlet pipe. And in general, is it worth making this an additional requirement for advanced shooting systems?
