The target for "Boreev" will serve "Dmitry Donskoy"
According to information provided by the newspaper "Izvestia", the submarine of the project "Typhoon" will remain in the lists of the Navy weapons operating submarines.
The Typhoon submarine is currently one of the largest in the world, the decision to write off these submarines arose due to the lack of missiles for combat operations, since the P-39 modification missiles made for them were removed from combat duty. in 2000 year. Since the decision to redesign these submarines into subglacial gas carriers and trucks was canceled, the general director of Sevmash Andrei Dyachkov suggested using one of them, that is, Dmitry Donskoy, as a living target for the new Boreev.
Explaining this choice, Andrei Dyachkov noted: “Some of the tasks performed during the tests cannot be replaced with mock-ups. "Dmitry Donskoy" will be the target for checking the sonar station, checking the entire range of weapons. At the moment, for the operation of "boat by boat" are used combat boats from the North fleet».
The headquarters of the Navy commented on this statement to Izvestia, that this is a very expensive project and requires an informed decision.
The representative of the fleet headquarters expressed his opinion: “The cost of maintaining the Typhoon submarine in a floating state (they simply did not sink and did not explode) costs the treasury about 300 million rubles annually. In this case, "Dmitry Donskoy", being the only one among all on the go, eats up most of the amount. The remaining 2 boats have been waiting to be scrapped for 10 years. A boat without rockets is just a saucepan, if Sevmash has a desire to use them somehow, let them be kind and contain them. ”
Sevmash responds by saying that the maintenance of Dmitry Donskoy is the responsibility of the Navy, as this is their property. The representative of the plant said: “We do not even have elementary conditions for the parking of submarines, there is no infrastructure, suitable mooring wall, electricity supply, steam supply, drainage, and so on. When ordering a fleet, these works, of course, will be performed, but, of course, for money. There are no such offers at the moment. ”
Izvestia also asked this question to other representatives of Sevmash: “This decision came as a result of hopelessness. We have been building it for twenty years, we have improved it and now we are being offered to use it for scrap. Of course, we are not talking about the resumption of the release of P-39 type missiles, but you can simply work out systems of other types of submarines! Even the newest hydroacoustics complex, Irtysh-Amphora-B, which is in service with Boreev, is only a modernized modification of the digital system Skat-3, which was used on Dmitry Donskoy. Thus, “Donskoy” is an irreparable loss for the bridgehead of the Dolgoruky’s hydroacoustics specialists. Only Boreas themselves are better than them, but in this case they will have to be distracted from their trials. ”
As previously assumed, Typhoon was supposed to serve as an underwater truck, delivering various goods to the northern ports throughout the year. When calculating this method of delivery was not cost-effective and decided to refuse it. In the end, all three boats of the current project, including Severstal and Arkhangelsk, with the mine converted into Bulava, were decided to be disposed of.
The crew of TK-208, which wears the Donskoy, will be reduced from 2012 to 160 military personnel at the beginning of 70. He will wait for recycling in Severodvinsk, with Arkhangelsk standing nearby.
The new missile system "Bulava" was upgraded under the "Dmitry Donskoy" in the 2000-ies. In one of his mines, manufactured under the P-39 type rocket, a launching cup of a new Bulava type was built in. True, of the fourteen launches, only six were successful, the last of which was released on October 29th of the year 2010.
A strategic nuclear missile cruiser, the heaviest existing one belonging to the 941 project (code "Shark", according to NATO classification - "Typhoon"), is entered in the Guinness Book of Records. A light steel case has two horizontal 7,2 m cases inside, each of which is divided into 8 compartments. Between them there are three strongest modules: the central post, the stern and the bow, with torpedo tubes in the amount of six pieces, caliber 533 mm.
Having such a complete set, “Typhoon” up to six months can be at a depth of up to 400 m, moving at a speed of 27 nodes (50 km / h). A total of 6 submarines of this type have been launched since 1976. Observing the agreement of the Russian-American program “Joint Reduction of Threats”, three of them have already been utilized.
