Began preliminary tests "Boomerang"

83
In the Russian Federation, the preliminary tests of the Boomerang APC, first shown on 9 Red Square in May last year, began, reports RIA News a message from Alexander Krasovitsky, general director of the Military Industrial Company.

“At the present time we have already begun preliminary tests of the machine. More than 40 of the leading Russian enterprises participate in the work on "Boomerang". The main volume of work on the creation of the machine and testing is carried out by our military engineering center, ”the general director said.

According to him, “The Boomerang is a new generation machine, with a more effective weapon system, serious protection systems (active and passive) and a modern control system.”

"We can say that this is a" non-killing "combat vehicle with the properties of mobility, firepower, security and command control, exceeding the best foreign analogues in some indicators",
Krasovitsky added.

The agency recalls that “The Military Industrial Company" (part of the Basic Element holding) was founded in 2006 year and is engaged in the production of armored wheeled vehicles, primarily armored personnel carriers and special Tiger machines. "

The main thing is to take into account the opinion of people who will directly "sit inside the car." Indeed, in the field, during operation, moments are revealed that are difficult to guess when designing.

We can say that this is an "indestructible" combat vehicle

Pleased with such words. Of course, it’s better to never check it, but the time is turbulent now.

And the soldiers do not go for the armor but ON the armor as a result. And this probably has a controlled ground clearance, so if necessary, "sit down". Although you are right - it is better to wait for the tests and see the result.

In the Republic of Kazakhstan, they have now begun to assemble the South African car (the same const., 50% of sets from Russia - arms, platform, engine). But we have 4 * 4 and 6 * 6, and Boomerang 8 * 8. hi

With armor check on "your own skin"-This is necessary for the designers in the armored personnel carrier, yes to the landfill, and so that they would live in it (in the armored personnel carrier) for at least a week and wind 1000 km on it and shoot 10 BC. Then the Boomerang simply won't have many "childhood" illnesses. Only there is a misunderstanding: will there be a 57 mm or 30 mm machine gun?

      "indestructible" war machine

Unkillable vehicles, even combat ones, do not exist. It all depends on the presence of the enemy, appropriate to the task, weapons. The more protected the vehicle, the more seriously you need a tool for destruction, with the necessary amount of appropriate ammunition. There will be enough line from NSV for one vehicle, for another you will have to spend not so many ATGMs. A good tool is expensive. Can the enemy's military-industrial complex provide its troops with the necessary quantity and quality of weapons? Will the enemy have this tool at the right time? The "indestructibility" of any machine depends on this.

We read it only later, at the moment this is classified information apparently.
In fact, it is high time to reconsider the concept of creating armored vehicles in the direction of using new types of passive and active protection, as well as installing elements of electronic suppression of anti-tank systems with homing on the basis of advanced developments in science and technology. Developments of past years conceptually differed from modern ones. The main criterion was reliability and low cost. The survivability of the crew was compared in relative dependence on capex to the technical characteristics of the by-product equipment of the countries of the likely enemy. Now the price of one trained operator’s fighter has become much higher, therefore, personnel must be protected. The old cap-lending strategy has been replaced by the maximum savings of each staff unit. And this moment, in every branch of the army, I am most impressed.

Well, as for its protection, I have no doubt it has been checked more than once, I think at the assembly stage, but endurance and ease of use will be checked only by soldiers in their own skin, and then we will listen.
I wish her the best training ground for testing in Syria.

I drew a picture, suggesting that the tires are the same size.
They are not very large in size and differ (click)

Surely higher. But the beveled sides of the 80 visually reduce it.
I didn’t find the boomer’s drawings on the Internet, but I need to build on something.
Assuming that identical running is easiest.
          Hence, an incorrect assumption.

Look at one more photo of the person who is standing next to the armored personnel carrier and even put a hand on it. Take an average height of 180 cm and the fighter is not next to the equipment in your photo. If you remember which wheels are on gas 66 then the rubber is identical to armored personnel carrier 80.

Suppose the length of the slab is 6,0 m
Then Boomer length is about 8,0 m
And the length of the BTR-80 is 7,65, i.e. 35 cm less.

A low silhouette is unnecessary if the appointment against terrorists and partisans

They don’t have to go next to tanks to attack NATO strongholds - for this there are Armata and heavy infantry fighting vehicles or Kurgan’s

Namely, as shown by the database with the participation of the previous bets, because of the low clearance, they were quickly killed by mines, with all the consequences for drugs.

I remember at VO there were lamentations over the abandonment of the BTR-90, they were accused. almost in betrayal. and it’s like, it turns out, it’s not fools who made the decision.
And about the esperds. who say that the height is large, I immediately recall the words of the esperds about the fact that the BTR-80 is small, whom should I listen to? It was small, bad, it exploded on mines, developed, another bad again. RPG is easy to hit. What at least is interesting to listen to.

Catching up with potential "partners" is already good. Although, of course, this is not a breakthrough, such as the BMP-1 was.
We are waiting for a variant with a 125 mm gun - like the 120 mm on the Stryker chassis - this is really not an easy design task, to fit a tank gun into the armored personnel carrier's layout and at the same time, so that it could successfully shoot in the side sectors and at the same time not roll over.
