Russian ships are going to Syria
As is known, the Arab League took an unprecedented step: the organization imposed economic sanctions on its permanent member, Syria. The reaction of Damascus was, as expected, extremely harsh. The emotional response of Damascus is quite understandable, - the actions of the Arab League are quite fit to the definition of banal betrayal, which has so often happened recently among the Arab states. In this regard, it is worth noting the following. We often call ourselves the largest divided people in the world, and yet the Arabs can claim this title.
The decision of the Arab League is a clear confirmation of this. The Arabs were as divided as possible. Each Arab state is driven by its own purely mercantile values. The Arab world has long been sold out. In this sense, the position of the Arab Islamists is very nice: they call for the unity of the Arab-Muslim world on the basis of a single faith. No less sympathetic is the position of the Ba'ath Party, which calls for the unity of the Arab world on the basis of the idea of "socialist revival." But unity never happens. This is the main weakness of the Arabs and one of the main sources of instability in the region. The Arabs, representing different countries, do not even have unity on such an important issue for them as the Palestinian one, let alone talk about protecting the interests of a single Arab state in the face of the threat of another foreign aggression.
At the same time, despite the fact that the Western channels are vying with each other about mass protests organized by the Syrians, with unity within this country, it seems, everything is more or less in order. Thousands of people protesting against the imposition of sanctions and speaking out for the actions of their government are taking to the streets of Syrian cities. But now is not about that.
The likelihood of military intervention in Syria increases
As Damascus continues to pull back with the demand to allow the presence of international observers in the country, the likelihood of military intervention in Syria is increasing day by day.
Analysts were divided on how the possible operation against Syria will develop. At the heart of this division of opinions lies a different interpretation of the reasons for the strengthening of the US naval grouping in the Mediterranean. If some experts argue that the transfer of the aircraft carrier "George Bush" to the coast of Syria unequivocally indicates a very early start of the bombing of this country, while others believe that the actions of the United States more closely resemble a bluff.
Whose point of view is closer to the truth, time will tell, but the fact of reaching the extreme point of tension around Syria is obvious. In favor of the fact that the military operation against Syria is not far off, the calls of the US and Turkish authorities for their citizens to leave Syria also speak. Are those who think that the issue of a strike on Syria has already been resolved? However, this time is not so simple.
Recall that a day before the start of the transition of the American aircraft carrier to the shores of Syria, three Russian Navy ships entered the territorial waters of this country. In addition, it became known that in the direction of the Syrian port of Tartus, which is the naval base of the Russian Federation, our aircraft carrier, the Admiral Kuznetsov, sailed. According to some reports, the large anti-submarine ship Admiral Chabanenko will also join the campaign in Syria.
The nomination of such significant Russian forces fleet in the direction of its Syrian base confirms the seriousness of the current situation. Apparently, the task of our sailors will be to prevent the onset of a new aggression of NATO and the United States. The very presence of Russian ships in the territorial waters of Syria should be the main and only factor holding back the West from the start of a new adventure, which this time may not end in good things, not only for Assad, but for the whole world, including the West itself.
What is Russia for Syria for? Why do we need to help out Assad, risking being dragged into a conflict? - Not everything is as simple as it seems. We simply can not sit aside, finally agreeing to the loss of the status of a great power. The head of the Center for Military Forecasting, Candidate of Military Sciences Colonel Anatoly Tsyganok believes that for a correct understanding of the situation a very important point should be taken into account: now there are several thousand Russian citizens living in Syria. Since the Soviet times, about 70-75 thousands of our compatriots lived there. Another 20-25 thousand people increased by Russian women who were married to Syrians. Thus, the active actions of our Foreign Ministry, army and navy can be dictated not so much by geopolitical considerations, which in itself is, of course, very important, but rather as the need to protect our compatriots living in Syria. Tsyganyuk believes that the measures taken may not be enough. Syria needs help in reorganizing its air defense system. It is obvious that in the case of delivery of the C-300 and C-400 complexes to Syria, the Syrian sky will be guaranteed to be closed for any air operation. We have time?
