Photo review of T-72B1 tanks of the Donetsk People's Republic from the SBU

On their Facebook page, Ukrainian KGBists posted photos that allegedly prove Russian origin tanks T-72B1 captured from the DNR. Moreover, the SBU is trying to assure that these photos prove the fact of "Russian aggression in eastern Ukraine." Just for some reason, when describing the configuration of these vehicles, SBUshniki compare it to the configuration of AFU tanks that underwent major repairs in Kiev and Lviv, completely dismissing the possibility of using tanks removed from storage, say in Artyomovsk, without any modernization and repair. The serial numbers of the machines and their individual units and assemblies clearly show that they were produced back in the Soviet period - in March-April 1985. There are no hallmarks talking about repairs and upgrades on them at all! And only in one tank were batteries allegedly produced in Russia in 2013. It is clear to any specialist that the presence of these rechargeable batteries clearly does not draw on evidence of "aggression." They could well be purchased by Ukraine both officially and could be delivered through smuggling. I wrote about the latter on this blog several times. Thus, the SBU made another "blank shot" ...

The SBU presents evidence of Russian aggression in the east of Ukraine - two T-72 tanks manufactured by the Russian Federation, which were in service with the terrorist organization “DPR”.
The placement of individual components and assemblies in these tanks does not meet domestic standards, in particular:
- the air valve is located in the transmission compartment, in the Ukrainian tanks - in the fighting compartment (in the tower);
- there is a counter of motochas under load (not installed in Ukrainian tanks);
- At the crew’s workplaces, existing DV-3 type fans (foreign-made fans have been installed in Ukrainian tanks after an overhaul);
- in tanks there is a fuel heating system (on T-72 type tanks that are in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, such a system was dismantled during an overhaul).
In addition, on all units, units of the specified combat vehicles, the existing factory sealing (T-72 tanks, which are in service with the Ukrainian troops, were overhauled at armored plants (Lviv and Kiev), therefore they cannot have factory sealing of the manufacturer).
At the same time, on one of the tanks, four 6CT-140ТМ-type batteries manufactured by the Russian Federation (“Electrolyte Closed Joint-Stock Company”. 6CT-140TM 16TM 529.357TM. On the captured tank, the gunners successfully returned to their positions. The Ukrainian flag was immediately hung on a captured combat vehicle. Inside, they found documents (they were given to anyone who needed it) and Russian dry packs. While the fighters use the “seventy-two” as a tractor, there is no gunner who could fire from a gun. But they hope that a specialist will be sent to them and then the trophy will join the firepower of their battery.
