The innovative helicopter created together with Ukrainians for the United Arab Emirates was presented in Dubai.
The company "Quest Helicopters" (UAE, Dubai) at the air show "Dubai Air Show 2011" held in Dubai was presented a multi-purpose civilian helicopter "AVQ" developed jointly with the aircraft designers of Ukraine.
Helicopter "AVQ" is a representative of a new family of innovative rotary-wing aircraft. This device was created as part of the Project Q project, which was the result of collaboration between the designers of the Aero Vortex bureau (Kharkov, Ukraine) under the leadership of Vladimir Udovenko and Quest Helicopters. At the airshow was presented a prototype of a helicopter cockpit pilot and passenger cabin.
Mike Creed, the Commercial Director of Project Q, readily talks about the Ukrainian-Emirates "brainchild", which was delivered to the show "straight from the factory." Model "AVQ" is a light helicopter with twin screws that rotate in opposite directions. The maximum speed "AVQ" can reach 295 km / h; the flight range is 700 km, and the fuel reserve is calculated 3,6 hours. The "AVQ" prototype shown on the show is a four-seater model with a total capacity of 2250 kg (own weight of 1,3 tons). However, M. Creed says that there is a field for maneuver. If desired, the 5-, 10-, 15-seater cabin can be made - the system "twin screw - twin engine" allows you to do this.
The safety of people on board was a key issue when working on AVQ, notes M. Creed. in this regard, the main innovation of the model was a unique detachable gyrostabilized cabin. In the event of an emergency, the cockpit with the pilots and passengers in it becomes a catapult capsule, which “shoots” forward, and then gradually descends by parachute. The second part of the helicopter lands on a separate parachute. The AVQ model will also be the first civilian helicopter to be equipped with a quadruple remote control system. It will also be equipped with a modern electronic aviation communication system and telemetry channel "Board-Earth".
The assembly and flight tests "AVQ" will be held in 2013 year in Ukraine. Kharkov specialists will watch them. In general, according to Mr. Creed, the helicopter equipment will be Ukrainian on 75%. For example, the Progress DB / Motor Sich Ukraine A1-450M engines will be delivered by the Ukrainian Motor Sich. Certification of the future helicopter will be held by Emirates, and Ukrainian standards, as well as EASA standards.
