Almost three hundred military specialists from different branches of service from the 58 Army of the Southern Military District had the opportunity to take part in demonstration classes held at the Shalkhi training ground. Among them were specialists in radiation, chemical and biological protection. The purpose of the classes was to train the servicemen to conduct radiation, chemical, and biological types of intelligence, to carry out dosimetry and chemical monitoring. In addition, the military carried out a special test of weapons, equipment, aerosol types of camouflage personnel and various objects. Measures were taken to disinfect the terrain.

In addition to everything else, the program of conducting classes included a demonstration of the combat capabilities of the new, having ultra-long-range indicators of the rocket flamethrowers RPO PDM-A. They entered service only in the second half of this year. At the disposal of the troops 58-th army was transferred to new types of guns in the number of total 2000 units. When compared with previous models, namely the RPO-D “Bumblebee” jet flame thrower, the PDM-A has a number of advantages over it. For example, increased power and increased range by almost 2 times.

In absolute figures, this can be expressed as follows: the PDM-A jet infantry flamethrower has a maximum range when fired at least 1700 meters. Aim shooting can be conducted at a distance of about 800 meters. The flamethrower has demonstrated its high efficiency and good level of reliability during the operation to establish peace in Georgia. It should be noted that the share of new weapons in the RCBZ units of the 58 Army has now increased to 30%. This process is characteristic not only of the armies of the Southern Military District, but has the character of a universal transition of the military to more modern types of weapons and military equipment.

In addition, next year supplies of flamethrowers with thermobaric equipment to these troops are planned. When it is undermined, a high-temperature impulse can create a sharp pressure drop. In addition, the military will receive new modern machines for conducting radiation, chemical and biological reconnaissance modifications РХМ-6.
