Today, on the airfield and in the factory workshops is worth more than 20 machines. Most of them were released in 1985 – 1990.
The life of the IL-76 today is forty years. The specialists of the plant are faced with the task of dismantling the aircraft, sorting out the engines, and performing the necessary repairs so that the aircraft can work reliably for a long time.
The newly arrived at the Ilam plant airfield will spend about five months here.
During this time, the units and engines will be dismantled from the aircraft, they will be repaired where necessary, they will be replaced, the paint will be repainted, after which the service life of the aircraft will be fixed until the next repair, which will be 16 years.
Most of the machines are designed for the Russian air force (today the Air Force has more than 100 IL-76 transport).
Some aircraft, specially modified for the needs of foreign customers, will fly to China, India or Algeria.
It is planned that the revenue of 123-ARZ for 2015 year will amount to 5 billion rubles. According to the plant’s managing director, Andrei Sakharov, by August of this year, the plant has completed up to 80% of the state order 2015 of the year.
In the past three years alone, the staff has increased by 700 employees - up to 2 500 people.
For several years, the company's employees were able to increase revenue five times more (compared to 2000 year) due to the increasing volume of products produced under the state defense order and the development of export programs.
In 1973, Tashkent aviation Production Association V.P. Chkalova began production of IL-76 transport assault vehicles.
In total, over the years, they produced about 950 aircraft. More than two hundred of them are still in the service of the Russian armed forces, some are navy private airlines, the rest - with foreign customers.
The production of IL-76 in Tashkent was completely stopped last year, when two incomplete boards were sent to Russia for revision. But at the Russian aircraft repair front of work began to expand significantly.
In order to avoid misunderstandings with the supply of components - fasteners, brackets, honeycombs - our own production of individual parts and assemblies is gradually launched in Staraya Russa. The list of names of such parts for aircraft already takes several dozen pages.
New equipment is needed for other types of work: repair of engines, screws and other products. As experience has shown, our own production allows us to satisfy the needs of repairs to the maximum.
This year, the plant completed the first phase of modernization: built a paint hull, created a section of high-tech equipment on the basis of the mechanical processing shop; They also created a vertical machining center with a unique ability to machine 5 coordinates for the manufacture of parts of complex spatial shape.
In the majority of workshops, works on the reconstruction of areas are either still under way or are already coming to an end.
Before painting, unwanted areas are stuck with paper.
The inscriptions inside are ready to be applied.
Painting work begins in the paint shop.
The plant is gradually introducing an import substitution program. Around 60% of the most requested parts are already manufactured on their own. Bolts, nuts, gaskets - all before had to buy from suppliers. Now this problem is solved. For example, more than 4 thousands of gasket names, which are used to repair D-30KP engines, are fully manufactured at the enterprise with the help of laser complexes.
Available rubber parts during overhaul change completely. However, before putting the components into production, it is necessary to go through a lot of approvals with the developers and manufacturers - details are not included in the series without written permission.
The plant has mastered the process of manufacturing glass panes made of oriented organic glass, which are used on IL-76. Oriented glass is a special high-strength glass heated at a certain temperature and stretched along different axes for a given thickness, and working with it requires professional skills.
The IL-76 is worth about 88 glass, and each of them needs its own mold. For internal and external glass, they are different. And at the enterprise with their own efforts they make not only the molds themselves, but also the glasses. Of the 88 glasses, 32 has already been mastered.
By the beginning of 2015, more than 2,1 billion rubles were directed to the development of the production and technical base and the re-equipment of production. These funds went to the construction of the 25 order, thou. M 2 of new production areas, the reconstruction of the airfield, fuel depot, and the three production buildings of the Il-76 and L-410 aircraft repair shop with a device in each case of self-leveling floors, retractable gate modernization and utilities .
In Russia today dozens of small Czech-made L-410 transport airplanes are flying, which, of course, are more convenient to repair at home.

Another important activity of the 123 ARZ was the repair of engines.
A few years ago, the motor direction prompted the leadership to the idea of developing a direction of energy that was not entirely specific to the plant. So, in Staraya Russa, the AI-20 engines that have served their time were converted for thermal power plants. For several years now, the company has not purchased electricity and heat on the wholesale energy market, but produces it on its own, supplying part of the surrounding neighborhoods.
A number of unusual ideas in the field of industrial design have been implemented on the territory of the enterprise; residents of both the native Novgorod and neighboring regions come to look at them.
Also, in recent years, more and more tourists are trying to combine an excursion to the places of Dostoevsky, who worked in Staraya Russa on the novels "Demons", "Teenager" and "The Brothers Karamazov" with a visit to an aircraft repair plant.
Look at how the production of aircraft is carried out, gather not only representatives of various industrial enterprises, vacationers and schoolchildren of the Novgorod region, but also residents of St. Petersburg, Moscow and other cities.
During the year, more than a thousand tourists go through the museum of the plant.
Over the past three years, the factory territory has changed: a green alley appeared, steel mockups of aircraft performing aerobatics were installed.
According to the rules of fire safety on the territory of the enterprise there are many open reservoirs. On the biggest workers installed fountains.
To date, Russia and Western countries contain hundreds of civilian, military and transport aircraft of domestic production, the life of which ranges from twenty to fifty years. Naturally, every aircraft needs periodic maintenance.
About a year ago, nine aircraft repair enterprises engaged in repairing aircraft for the Ministry of Defense and other departments became part of UAC.
Today, the 123 ARZ order book is planned for the 2025 year. In addition to the IL-76 transporters, they plan to service new cars here, for example, the upgraded IL-76-90-MDA, the production of which the Ulyanovsk Aviastar-SP plant began last year.
