Russian forces in Syria: how and what will destroy ISIS

91

Today, September 30, Russia officially entered the war with the “Islamic State” (ISIS is a terrorist organization banned on the territory of the Russian Federation.): The Federation Council unanimously supported the proposal of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the possibility of using the Armed Forces abroad. And on the same day, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the first airstrikes on ISIS positions in Syria. I must say that this did not come as a surprise - rumors, photos and videos about the relocation of a sufficiently large number of military aviation, equipment and personnel in Syria, at the air base near Latakia and in Tartus, appeared already more than 2 weeks ago. The number and types of military aircraft were not officially disclosed, but now they can be fairly accurately estimated, as well as analyze the capabilities of such a group.

Su-30CM and Su-34 - the face of modern Russian aerospace forces

One of the first in Syria to "light up" the Russian multi-purpose fighters Su-30CM, which in the number of 4 units hit the satellite images, laid out in the Western media. Later, 29 of September, images of the Su-34 front-line bomber over Syria, as well as information about 6 of such vehicles arrived in Latakia, got online. Both machines are united by the fact that they are created on the platform of the Su-27 fighter - one of the most successful in the modern global aircraft industry. Su-30SM is a two-seater version of the Su-27, with fully updated electronic equipment, installation of engines with a deflected thrust vector (this increases the maneuverability of the aircraft, and also makes it manageable at near-zero speeds) and the possibility of using a wide range of Russian aviation weapons - high-precision weapons (adjustable bombs, air-to-surface missiles), air-to-air missiles, etc. The Su-34 differs from the Su-30CM for greater “groundiness” for striking the ground, although it can also fight against air targets. Both cars are currently the face of the Russian VKS, as the PAK FA 5 generation fighter is undergoing tests. Single Su-35С to Syria have not yet arrived - this is probably due to the fact that double cars can be used more effectively for ground targets. With sufficiently effective reconnaissance and target designation, both aircraft can strike from heights more than 3 − 4 km, which in fact makes them invulnerable in the sky over Syria, since no serious air defense systems other than man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS), from ISIL and others no terrorist groups. For both planes, the upcoming operation is a serious test, it is very important not to “lose face”.

Su-25CM and Su-24М2 - upgraded veterans

In addition to the above Su-30CM and Su-34, 12 attack aircraft Su-25 and the same front-line bombers Su-24 appeared on satellite images. Considering that most of these machines have been upgraded to Su-25CM and Su-24М2 versions, it is logical to assume that they flew to Latakia.

Su-25 attack aircraft, nicknamed “the rooks”, are the workhorse of the Russian VKS - an inexpensive, simple and very reliable machine (good booking has repeatedly allowed the machines to return after being hit by them from MANPADS). In the updated version, they can carry many types of guided and unguided rocket weapons, bombs, etc.

The Su-24М2 front-line bombers, after modernization, were able to use the same range of air-to-surface weapons as the modern Su-34. Nevertheless, the car is quite old and known for its complexity in the management, and as a result - a great accident rate.

In addition to the listed aircraft, there are some Mi-24 attack helicopters at the Latakia air base. This car to modern is difficult to attribute, but it has proven to be a reliable weapon.

Any loss is a disaster

During the implementation of aviation support to Syrian government troops, it is very important to prevent the loss of aviation and capture of Russian pilots, as their fate will be very sad. The loss of the Su-30CM and Su-34 is very unlikely, since the machines operate from high altitudes. The same applies to the Su-24М2, if technical reasons do not intervene. The most risky use of attack aircraft Su-25, and, in particular, the Mi-24 helicopters. If the former can also, in good weather, which is not uncommon in Syria, strike from a height of more than 3km, then the helicopters are vulnerable in any case, which requires tremendous caution when using them.

There is no "hat

The Russian VKS did not even have time to make 10 sorties, as already enthusiastic cries are heard everywhere about how we will destroy ISIS on “one-two”. First, we do not have exhaustive information about the number and real targets, which were also used by the United States Air Force. If they really bombed ISIS troops, then the effectiveness of these attacks was very low. In this case, given the high level of the US Air Force, our strikes will also be able to change very little. If we really see a dramatic success with the land forces opposing the LIH - the Kurdish forces, the government forces of Syria and Iraq, then this will be evidence that the “Western partners” were imitating the struggle. In any case, more than one week will pass before we can really begin to evaluate the results of the military operation launched today. A key factor in the effectiveness of the operation will be a satisfactory level of intelligence (which is very difficult, given the mobility and dispersion of ISIS forces) and coordination with ground forces of Bashar al-Assad, which, ultimately, must beat the battered forces of the militants from their occupied territories. So far, the reason for optimism is the fact that Russian troops show the ability to very quickly deploy large enough forces in remote parts of the world: within a couple of weeks, an air base was created from scratch with at least 34 combat aircraft.

As a comrade told me - now a colonel. In 08, he participated in the cleansing of areas where the forces of the Georgian army were defeated. So the Georgians who had badges from the Americans for their training in IRAQ and for their distinction in the service were the most cowardly. Even the reservists were a little more stable. I mean that Georgians (if they are not fighting for a just cause and understand this) do not want to die and endure hardships in the event of a war or a "time of troubles" Russian interests, but if you got into hell, I would immediately come running to Rostov and talk about my love for Russia ...

Russia conducts naval exercises with missile firing off the Syrian coast. This is evidenced by a notice for pilots (NOTAM) available in the database of the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States (FAA), reports RBC.

According to reports, Russian Navy exercises take place between September 8 and 17 70 km from the port of Tartus, where the only logistics point of the Russian Navy abroad is located.

The center of the training area is located between the shores of Cyprus and Syria. During the exercises it is planned to conduct test firing missiles. According to notice A1105 / 15, which relates to the LCCC air hub (airport of the capital of Cyprus, Nicosia), exercises are expected in an area with a radius of about 41 km. For flights, a danger zone from the surface of the sea to level 660 (about 20,1 km) is considered.

Pilots. The technique has its own combat resource. MANPADS there too, not in every gang. More truly operators. Any blow from a low-flying side, the next day there will already be an operator. This is called hunting. Once in the South, the AH was knocked down by VOG from a slope, from under a woolen blanket glued with foil and carbon paper. After that, the NATO canceled all sorties. And Achi after that, was used very rarely.

today again a flock of sofa amateurs, will rush to angrily peck at two or three professionals, who are already almost absent on the site? Thanks to the "ancient" for yesterday's comments, and advice: quit your friendly fight with "windmills", from them only the threshing floor flies in all directions.

I didn't read the Ancient One's comments yesterday, because it was too late for me. I read it this morning. I can say that his comments cause rejection of any patriot. The reason is trivial and it is absolutely not in WHAT he says, but in HOW. Disdainful attitude towards EVERYTHING that happens in the country. I may be wrong, but I have not seen any of his approving comments in relation to something domestic. And almost joy, although I think that it is precisely here that it is, from the fact that "everything is bad" with us. And it cannot be otherwise.
You know, I also do not cherish any great or small reverence for the Russian oligarchic authorities. But I make a distinction between Russia and the oligarchic RF that occupied it. But even in a "bad" RF it does not happen that EVERYTHING is bad. It was only in the propaganda of Goebbels and his Western followers that Russian Untermenschs and "bad guys" could be bad and inept in everything.
As for the groans that all neophytes, you see, do not respect professionals. Then there are also questions. I'm not a professional, but when I asked Waf two years ago, as a professional in PM, to help me describe a possible air battle between the Su-35 and American planes (I wanted to use it in the work, as I said), he refused under the pretext, that ours have neither missiles nor radars, everything is only in the project and in single copies. To the request to use these "projects" and "single copies", there was no response at all. However, this does not mean that the person is not a professional in his field. It is possible that he simply did not want to throw beads ... but if he does it on the forum, then why not do it in PM?
I also have questions for yesterday's explanations of the Ancient. No, I do not have sufficient knowledge to dispute his conclusions, especially since they, as always, are very fragmentary and poorly understood, except for the final conclusion. Maybe they are understandable for professionals, but not for an amateur like me. I have other questions. Are our leaders really stupid enough to let our Armed Forces screw up at the beginning in a greenhouse environment? After all, we did not grapple with the Nazis in the border battle and did not clash with Napoleon. Our planes are bombing semi-partisan formations that cannot even respond, at least not now. And in such a situation, when the West is just waiting for us to screw up, would they send pilots there who will smear? Or do professionals think that we have no normal pilots left? Forgive me, but I would rather believe that they destroyed the bunker than they will look at a running dog that our "muffs" could not destroy.
That's something like that, an opinion from a neophyte.

In-in, and so it seems to me.
And yet, in my opinion, well, the Russian Defense Ministry wouldn’t upload videos of strikes in the public domain if the planes missed. What's the point of this? Indeed, in the West there are the same specialists who can easily understand whether the navigator is smearing or not. After all, in principle, the Ancient is not the only such specialist?
And something is not heard from the "Western partners" comments to videos such as muffs, etc.
Sincerely, I express my amateur opinion.

Suppression of firing points during the assault. As I understand it, there is someone to storm, otherwise it makes no sense to maintain a vacuum. The psychological effect, the assault attack can be effectively restrained from a fortified point, they have exactly those there in the cities to which the passages are dug, exactly rat holes. Although it’s stupid to laugh at such wars, to bury oneself, is the only way to survive. But the fact, several points destroyed in a short time, discourages the Arabs from dying. The Almighty and all that is understandable, but alive on Earth, as it is more certain ..... Further, they have no layered defense, which means a competent attack, with the support of aviation, will progress.

It is clear, the answer suggests itself - taxpayers. How they paid for Afghanistan and mourned the thousands of dead "limited contingent" children. This is geopolitics! Otherwise, the United States will gladly finance the arrival of this whole gang of watering cans at the borders of Russia and preparations for its crossing. And these are completely different, transcendental expenses and sacrifices. It would be nice to negotiate with ISIS, for the same money, to visit its main creators and sponsors as tourists, but you will have to run after them in the desert for a long time with such an offer. We have already organized unfriendly, unstable, bloody regimes along a very long part of the border. We are already under siege and this situation will be artificially maintained in order to further scare away those who wanted and, alienate existing friends, investors, etc. The United States has achieved its goal. Now we need to break this "Gordian knot" and get out of the maze!

Despite some coldness from the expectation of inevitable accidents and losses in the conduct of hostilities, I nevertheless welcome Russia's decisive intervention in the Syrian war. Letting ISIL win in Smriya would be a disaster for BV - it's just like the "curtain falls".
I hope that the Aerospace Forces will show their effectiveness to the whole world, and our new (and not very new) aircraft will demonstrate reliability and high accuracy of work on Earth. I foresee that each flight will be examined in a mattress with a microscope.

If he takes off from an aircraft carrier, and someone controls it from the office of Moscow. When a full-fledged base is in place, operational intelligence UAV is enough. Target detection time and subsequent strike, the time is almost the same. But there are fewer errors. Remember what you did these shock UAVs in Afghanistan.

it is very important to prevent the loss of aviation and the capture of Russian pilots

And the author does not ask why so far no plane of the so-called coalitions? So you need to expect that the United States will begin to supply MANPADS to combat our aircraft. But MANPADS can only be used at low altitudes, therefore, the delivery of the IG more serious air defense systems is not ruled out? But then you can’t hide it and this is a new scandal, which the United States is not really needed right now.

The task is quite complex, the aviation group is quite small. If the emphasis is on point strikes, then reliable intelligence, target designation, and the availability of costly precision munitions are also necessary.
It is clear that a key success factor is the availability of combat-capable ground forces, the degree of interaction / coordination between the air and ground forces.

If they really bombed ISIS troops, then the effectiveness of these attacks was very low. In this case, given the high level of the US Air Force, our strikes will also be able to change very little.

Even if the Americans bombed the IG, which is doubtful, it is practically impossible to achieve a great effect without interacting with the Syrian army or other ground troops fighting against the Ig. We, I hope, will act in a coordinated manner with CAA, and therefore the result will be completely different.

The situation is interesting. After the first bombings, the Western media screamed that the Russian Aerospace Forces were bombing the wrong people and that civilian casualties had begun. We can safely conclude: they are bombing who is needed and what is needed. Looks like. that ISIS suffered very significant losses, not necessarily in manpower, and the fosterlings of the United States turned to their patrons for help. I can imagine the degree of demoralization of the evil farmers after our aviation worked on them, as it should be, and not in the American way, with dropping bombs in the desert. Now a lot will depend on the ability and ability to fight the Syrian land army. He will be able to carry out a sweep of the territory in hot pursuit, liberation will come, no, this mission will last for a long time and we do not need it. I believe in our Aerospace Forces and the Air Force, and it seems to me that a couple of weeks of hard work, regardless of and not looking back at the "partners" will be able to radically change the situation in Syria. ISIS must be destroyed, and if you know where a couple of dozen instructors are with them, they will disappear, I will only be glad. And so that without our losses!

I am a sofa shaper. "Putin's falcons" respect and respect. Takeoffs = Landings. I think that the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces was preparing for it long before the operation. It can be assumed that our agents have long been introduced into the ranks of ISIS, which is now activated. The supply of ammunition, fuel and fuels and lubricants has also been worked out (The issues of underwater protection of ships from Novorossiysk have also been resolved. I know for sure). The very fact of Russia's entry into the war can significantly raise the morale of the Syrian army. Concerning Akhedzhakova. It all resembles senile marasmus. Once to watch her as the body of a man with a cut throat beats in convulsions, it will be cured immediately.

Problems will arise when the IS command posts will be placed in places (concentration camps) where civilians — women, old people, and children — will be specially kept. There is no doubt about the cruelty of the Islamic State, and the United States, too, in a close connection between the Islamic State and the government.
And then today's media insinuations about the killing of peaceful Syrians by Russian videoconferencing will turn into reality, under the guidance of well-known puppeteers. That's liberalists will train their vocal chords !!!
Will the Syrian Armed Forces have time to disperse such concentration camps before air strikes by the aerospace forces?

The task is indeed complex and resource-consuming. I believe and hope that everything goes well and the victory will be ours. At the same time, there is a unique chance to work out the interaction of various units and formations of a new type of troops - the airborne forces, and in a real combat situation (including reconnaissance and satellite, target designation, database support, information exchange, etc.), as well as work out mechanisms interaction with ground forces, albeit from another state. I think that this was one of the reasons for the participation of our troops in this operation.

In fact, reconnaissance and target designation play the biggest role here. Because aviation is the final stage of work. And if we really smash bases and warehouses, a lot of time and effort will be spent on reconnaissance and target designation. Well, what about the subject of enemy air defense, we have heard so much about our awesome defense against it, which can be checked ... But once again I repeat, aviation is the final link in the operation.

I don’t understand what GDP is counting on: I lost one small war, which I started to raise the rating, betrayed people, failed those who knew a lot and immediately got involved in another war, which, by definition, is not able to win. It is clear that the IS is a more serious opponent than the stealing Ukrainians, and the IS must be wetted by all means ... But our army is cardboard, everything has long been stolen and Armata is from plywood on the pedals.
Why is he getting involved in this fight? Shame Russia again? Now they will capture the shot down pilots. What will he do? Will merge everyone again? It will be so.
Akhidzhakova, of course, was struck ... I will not say anything just out of respect for her age.

    - In my opinion, we were stupidly "thrown" - with our hands they will rake the manure left by the Coalition in the Middle East! Then all the "democrats" were so happy ... Only "flyers" and the BAO will not be limited, passive protection and defense of bases will not bring good results, which means that people will be needed to conduct reconnaissance and search activities at a considerable distance from them, escort convoys with fuel and lubricants and MTO - and it went on increasing ... “In any case, it will be more than a week before we can really begin to assess the results of the military operation launched today. The key factor for the effectiveness of the operation will be a satisfactory level of intelligence (which is very difficult, given the mobility and dispersion of ISIS forces) and coordination with the ground forces of Bashar al-Assad, which, ultimately, should drive the battered militant forces out of the territories they occupy. "
Surely our military experts do not just advise the Syrians and bomb - the interaction of our Air Force and the Syrian Armed Forces is the key to future successful operations against the bandits fed by the SGA. The ultimate goal of the bd in Syria is db. expelling gangs from our points into desert areas, concentrating them and destroying them without contact combat, i.e. from the air and artillery such as TOS "Buratino", "Smerch", etc. In any case, we wish success to our coalition in the fight against gangs! soldier

So far, the reason for optimism can be called the fact that Russian troops show the ability to deploy quite large forces very quickly in distant parts of the world: within a couple of weeks, an air base with at least 34 combat aircraft was created from scratch.

I immediately remembered these teachings http://ria.ru/defense_safety/20150828/1212170349.html It seems that they all worked for them.

That is the reason for the large number of minuses to the "ancient", because he is a whiner and alarmist, and not for some mythical reasons for not recognizing professionalism. The tone of his messages annoys people with neglect of the country they serve, in which they live and which they love.
It is known that only a maximum of 30% of the information in a message is transmitted, in fact, with semantic content (when using voiced speech), 70% is non-verbal, tinted, intonational information. This part of his texts is usually filled with negativity. I do not see anything good in this, and this has nothing to do with his professionalism or his absence.
