Jeffrey Payette, the US ambassador in Kiev, denied the message of Ukrainian publications that Washington threatened to deprive Ukraine of support, reports RIA News.
“We continue to cooperate with the Ukrainian authorities in order to support their economic and political reforms and strengthen the country's security,” Payette said.
Earlier, Ukrainian media published information that “adviser to US Vice President Joseph Biden made a tough and specific warning to President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk”, threatening to deprive them of their support because of the high level of corruption in the government levels.
“The recent comments attributed to the vice president’s advisor regarding the yellow card are clearly false,” the ambassador said.
According to Payette, Washington does not press charges against Poroshenko and Yatsenyuk, since these politicians "have achieved significant progress in the fight against corruption."
