Priangary is a region of the lower reaches of the river. Angara and its tributaries with a total length of more than 1000 km, located in the territory of the Yenisei province. This is one of the oldest areas of settlement in Eastern Siberia, consisting mainly of old-timers. In 1911, the Angarsk excursion (expedition) led by museum worker Alexander Petrovich Yermolayev was organized with the help of the Settlement Department to survey the Angarsk material culture.

A shirt of this type was worn by working mines and peasants, this style was used more often for output clothing. Boots with a high heel and a blunt nose were fashionable shoes in 1880-1890-s. A hat and a watch on a neck cord or chain are objects of urban luxury, adding to the costume originality and priiskovy charm.

Behind the crowd of men - peasants of different ages in festive clothes, watching what is happening. The competition takes place on the street of the village, part of its right side is visible with several residential and farm buildings. This kind of “running” between horsemen and on foot was arranged by Siberians in the summertime on holidays and fairs.
The distance is small, necessarily includes turning on 180 degrees. That is why the footman often won: the horse was drifting :)

At the beginning of the 20 century, with the beginning of the Stolypinsk agrarian reform, a stream of migrants from southern, western regions of Russia, Belarus, Ukraine rushed to Siberia. They were called new settlers, and those who lived in Siberia for more than one generation were old-timers.
