F2000 model

Taking a clean sheet of paper, FN specialists created weaponclaiming to be the "rifle of the future." The F2000 model (military version) and its civilian colleague FS2000 are ready to prove that tomorrow has already come. The only thing left from the past in the novelty is the caliber 5.56 of NATO and the standard stores M16 / NATO / STANAG. Everything else is worthy of Star Wars.

The strongest impression FS2000 produces in a disassembled state. The frame of the polymer consists of two elements interconnected by the type of shell. All other elements are modular. To disassemble the rifle and clean it, or to replace the modular elements is a matter of two minutes. A small amount of metal in the construction is surprising - in some modules only springs are made of metal. However, the total weight of the 3670 g (for FS2000) exceeds that of the M4 by almost half a kilo. With a total length of 73,9, see FS2000 shorter than the M4.

The versatility of the new model is provided by the integrated Picatinni rail of 25 length, cm, on which the telescopic sight is mounted, as well as the barrel trim, replaced by an 40-mm grenade launcher, tactical flashlight and other accessories. The 44,2 rifle barrel has a 1: 7 cutting pitch. The polymer butt is comfortable and perfectly balanced. The only thing that is missing is the carrying handles. The rifle's smooth bends look great, but make transportation impossible. Besides, the first models were not equipped with a belt for carrying.

As for the shooting characteristics, the best performance on the 100-meter shooting range was achieved using CorBon 62 Gran DPX cartridges (muzzle velocity - 877 m / s, group accuracy of three shots - 1,27 cm).

Store capacity - 30 cartridges
Barrel length - 44,2 cm
Overall length - 73,9 cm

A special feature of the FN2000 rifle is the way in which spent cartridges are removed. No standardized extractor is provided. By means of a special device, the used sleeves move along the chute, on the right wall of the receiver, to the muzzle, where they fly out of the rifle. The chute device prevents the sleeve from falling back into the receiver. Such a "frontal" device solved the problem of rifles - bull-paps - the possibility of getting a spent cartridge case on the muzzles.

The FN F2000 rifle is manufactured by Fabrique Nationale. Adopted by the Armed Forces of Slovakia, often used by special units of Belgium and several other EU countries.
