Donbass Liberation Day-2. Festive meeting at the memorial rock
The majestic Monument “To Your Liberators, Donbass” in the Leninsky Komsomol Park in Donetsk looks like a giant, powerful rock towering off the coast of Kalmius. Two mighty warriors froze the silent guards of the Donetsk land to forever protect it from new invaders. The number "1943" is stamped on this "rock" as a reminder of the very fiery date - after all, this year the Donbass was freed from the Nazi invaders.
Every year, fewer and fewer of them remain - the majestic gray-haired old men, who were then yesterday's boys, young mischievous soldiers. Those that passed through bullets along the roads of the Great Patriotic War steaming from explosions. Here, in the Donbas, the 8 day of September is their holiday. As those who liberated the city of Stalino, and those who went through other ways of the war and came to the Donbass later - to restore the mining region after the devastation devastation. As you know, the head of the Socialist state, Stalin, paid great attention to the revival of the land of miners and metallurgists. Therefore, many people demobilized from the front were sent to work here.
Approximately ten thousand people gathered in the morning of September 8 at the memorial rock. The most honorable places at the improvised scene, of course, were allocated to veterans.
The head of the Donetsk People's Republic Alexander Zakharchenko also came. At the very beginning of the event there was a touching moment. The grandmother, through the crowd, made her way to the head of the young state with her granddaughter Angelina and asked him for permission for the girl to read poetry. He not only resolved, but also then sat down this girl next to him and participated in the celebration with her.
Zakharchenko addressed the veterans with welcoming words: “Dear countrymen, for us it is a day of great joy. More than 700 days our land was under the yoke of the occupiers. Hundreds of thousands of our countrymen were destroyed. Tens of thousands are hijacked. The fate of hundreds of thousands of people was destroyed. But in 1943, the release came. In 2014, the enemy came to us again, shelling our homes, killing parents, children, women. And like 72 years ago, we were able to give a fitting rebuff to the enemy. ”
Before the veterans and other participants made creative teams of Donetsk. A flock of white pigeons was released into the sky - as a sign that the Donbass is in favor of peace.
Veterans, youth, workers and other citizens who came to the rally laid flowers at the memorial.
Then a memorial service was held near the new monument, recently opened there, near the monument “To your liberators, the Donbass”. Now there stands a forged bouquet of mournful roses - in memory of the heroes and martyrs of the new war.
Alexander Zakharchenko also took part in the funeral service.
After that, many of those present expressed a desire to take a picture with their leader. His time was, naturally, limited, but still he complied with the request of citizens, paying particular attention to children.
Then the field kitchen was deployed. A long line immediately lined up to her. Thousands of people were treated to soldier’s porridge and tea.
Fans of model aircraft presented their show - exhibition and demonstration flights of the fruits of their hard work.
For a long time in the park folk festivals lasted, and the concert continued on the stage.
On this day, other events took place in Donetsk. Monuments to Lieutenant-General Kuzma Gurov and Guards Colonel Franz Grinkevich, the heroes of the liberation of Donbass, were laid flowers. In the circus "Cosmos" was a festive concert. A memorial was opened at the Mass grave of the fighters of the Southern Front. There was a presentation of the collection of poetry "My city is hoarse from prayers." A series of events in honor of the Day of Liberation of Donbass also took place in the courtyard of the N.K.Krupskaya Library, but this will be discussed in the next report.
