The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan has spread the message that 17 representatives of law enforcement agencies and military personnel were killed in the country today (data RT). It is reported that the gang attacked the police (militia) department, located near Dushanbe (Vahdat). Initially, it was about a shootout, as a result of which several militants and 7 Interior Ministry officers were killed, but then the Tajik media began to report on a greater number of victims among law enforcement officers and the military.
Tajik media reported that the first attack on the police (police) station was carried out around 4: 30 was in Vahdat. After some time, militants attacked Tajik militiamen near the airport of the capital of the republic. Then the central office of the Ministry of Defense of Tajikistan was attacked. In the police stations and the ministerial building, the attackers seized a large number of weapons.
The official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan reports that as a result of operational search activities, involvement in organizing an attack on police officers and military personnel by the name of Halim Nazarov (Nazarzoda) was established. Nazarov - Major General, who held the post in the country's Defense Ministry and was previously a member of the so-called United Tajik Opposition. The post in the ministry Nazarov received on the basis of the Peace Agreement in 1997 on the 30% quota from opposition forces.
In connection with the events in Dushanbe and its environs, the law enforcement agencies of Tajikistan have been transferred to a special duty regime. Embassies of a number of states, including, for example, the US embassy, have announced a temporary suspension of their work.
