In the military logistics used automotive and special equipment of various types, designed to solve various problems. For example, truck tractors with special semi-trailers are used to transport armored vehicles over long distances by road. For several decades, the main type of such equipment was a MAZ-537 tractor with semi-trailers of various types. Due to the moral and material obsolescence of these machines, the transition to new tractors is currently underway. The main means of transporting armored vehicles has become a KAMAZ-65225 tractor unit with the appropriate equipment.

The KamAZ-65225 car was developed by the Kama Automobile Plant in order to enter the market with a new truck tractor with high characteristics. The design of the machine includes the possibility of towing heavy-duty semi-trailers weighing up to 64 tons. The maximum weight of the entire road train is declared at 75 tons with a load on the fifth wheel coupling device up to 22 tons. Thus, a tractor with a semi-trailer can transport various types of equipment, including Tanks and other cars of large mass. The presence of a universal coupling device allows the use of KamAZ-65255 together with other types of semi-trailers that meet customer requirements.

The KamAZ-65225 is built according to the traditional Kamsky factory beskapotnoy layout. As part of the chassis there are three bridges, all wheels are made leading. In front of the frame is the engine, above which the driver's cab is installed. The latter is mounted on pneumatic shock absorbers and is created taking into account the experience of designing and operating previous KamAZ vehicles. To ensure comfortable work of the crew, the KamAZ-65225 army tractors are equipped with an autonomous heater and a berth at the rear of the cabin. This allows the crew to work in difficult conditions for a long time.

The Kama Automobile Plant completes its own KamAZ-65225 turbocharged diesel engines 740.632-400. At 1900 revolutions per minute, such an engine delivers horsepower 400. Engine-coupled 16 manual gearbox ZF 16S1820 with 8 transmissions. The distribution of torque between the drive wheels is carried out using a mechanical two-stage transfer case with a locking center differential.

The car is equipped with a fuel tank capacity 500 l. The operation of electrical systems is provided by the generator power 2 kW and 2 batteries 190 A • h.

As part of the chassis there are six wheels with pneumatic chamber tires of size 12.00 R20. Drum brakes are used with a drum diameter of 420 mm and a pad width of 180 mm. The brake drive is pneumatic.

The KamAZ-65225 truck tractor has a total length of 7,3 m, a width of 2,5 m and a height of more than 3,1 m. The curb weight of the vehicle reaches 11,285 tons. The front axle load is 5,4 tons and the maximum axle load is 5,9 tons. - coupler (up to 22 t), the gross weight of the tractor is 33,36 t. In this case, the load on the front axle increases to 7,5 t, on the rear bogie up to 22,86 t.

According to the manufacturer, the total mass of the semi-trailer with a payload can reach 64 tons. In this case, the total weight of the entire road train reaches 75,36 tons.

Due to the relatively powerful engine (hp 400), the KAMAZ-65225 truck tractor has rather high running characteristics. According to official information, the road train with full weight at the level of 75 t on the highway can reach speeds of up to 80 km / h. The slope of the 10 ° (18%) slope is provided. By reducing the total mass of the train, some increase in performance is possible.

At the request of the customer, the KamAZ-65225 tractor can be equipped with a power take-off connected to special equipment. The composition of the additional equipment is also determined by the customer. For example, the military version of the tractor gets a winch associated with the engine. This unit is installed behind the cab and can be used for loading equipment onto a semi-trailer. First of all, the winch is needed for loading damaged armored vehicles that have lost their ability to move independently.

Serial production of KamAZ-65225 trucks started a few years ago. In addition, in the past decade, cars of this model began to enter the armed forces. The main "profession" of army tractors is the transportation of semi-trailers with armored vehicles. Such machines are actively used in the transfer of tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and other equipment on the roads. The general public regularly sees the KAMAZ-65225 vehicles during the preparations for the Victory Day holiday events: it is the tractors from Naberezhnye Chelny that are used to deliver tracked vehicles to the parade sites.

Not so long ago, truck tractors took part in the Army International Games. Russian servicemen participating in the “Masters of Armored Vehicle Technology” competition showed their skills in several types of vehicles, including KamAZ-65225 tractors. The Russian team successfully coped with all competitive tasks and won first place. A significant contribution to the victory was made by tractor drivers.

For several years, KamAZ-65225 truck-mounted tractor became the main means of transporting various types of armored vehicles on highways. High performance and resource will allow to operate these machines for a long time.

          With all this, I saw 400-horsepower Volvos and even Hyundai with the same power, and the declared 100 tons of the road train.

          What is the conclusion? What manufacturers indicate this parameter is purely from the bulldozer.
