The pain of Gorlovka and the burned cars of the OSCE observers in Donetsk
“We are bombed, and I want peace to be and that there is no war anywhere, even the smallest war,” said 8-year-old Polina from Gorlovka to journalists. This was upon the arrival of the third shift of children in a health camp near the town of Snezhnoye.
The camp staff are trying to do everything so that the children at least for a while forget about the horrors of war. And the war, meanwhile, continues. And the same Gorlovka 9 of August survived hell.
As a result of night shelling, carried out by Ukrainians, many areas of the city were left without light and water. In some places did not work mobile communications. In Gorlovka they consider: they survived the night - and it’s good. But this time the shelling continued during the day. On a Sunday hot day, hundreds of people, together with their children, went to rest and swim in the quarry. And suddenly the punitive punishment of the junta hit them. At least one person died - it was a man who was swimming at the time. Dozens of injured and contusions.
However, there is also a relatively good news from Gorlovka. Last week it was reported about the shelling of the city on the night of August 1, when a young woman died and her seven-year-old son was seriously injured. After that, information was spread that the boy had died in hospital. Fortunately, this message is disproved by the Gorlov doctors - the child is alive. But he is in serious condition and, moreover, he lost his mother.
The OSCE observer mission based in Donetsk is not eager to go to the destroyed Gorlovka. She does not see the daily shelling from Ukrohunta, does not hear the moans of wounded children. She now has other concerns. OSCE mourns the whole world for their damaged cars.
On the night of August 9, a very strange incident occurred at the Park Inn Hotel in the capital of the DPR: four vehicles of the observation mission’s employees almost completely burned out in the parking lot. A few more cars received non-critical damage.
By morning, the car was covered by what came to hand - and the old advertising banner in the Ukrainian language was caught. Those cars that can be repaired - sent for repair. In the parking lot, there are still many surviving OSCE vehicles, but the observers expressed no desire to go to Gorlovka.
Opinions of citizens in Donetsk about the incident were divided. “We have so many people living in the villages under fire - in October, Spartak. People are in despair, and observers do not want to see their suffering. That patience and burst, "- say some.
“No,” others object. “It looks like a provocation.”
And indeed, the Pitmen recently expressed their anger against the bias of the OSCE at two protests. 23 July painted their cars, portraying their eyes (so that the observers are no longer blind). And 6 August poured a red liquid at the hotel, symbolizing blood. The residents of Gorlovka also participated in the actions. This was the true expression of popular anger - in the afternoon, in the open.
But arson at night is something completely different.
In recent days, law enforcement agencies of the Republic have noted the intensification of “ukropovskikh” sabotage and reconnaissance groups. It is in the interests of those who continue shelling of Donetsk, Gorlovka and other cities of Donbass to oust the mission of OSCE observers altogether. Despite the fact that observers are often biased, they are sometimes forced to record the obvious. In particular, after the protest actions of civilians, the mission’s employees were forced to admit that the shelling of the center of Donetsk on 18 July was carried out by ukrovroskami.
Denis Pushilin, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of the DPR, said about the car arson incident: “Perhaps the OSCE representatives were not always objective for various reasons, ranging from technical ones to high-profile politics. However, we are absolutely not interested in ending the activities of the OSCE mission. Moreover, I am convinced that it is the presence of observers in the DPR that allows us to restrain the actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Without their presence in the Republic, we would be subject to more fierce attacks by the Ukrainian side. ”
Pushilin blamed the Ukrainian sabotage group for the incident and said that the DPR law enforcement agencies had thrown all their forces into searching for arsonists.

But not only the war live in Donetsk. On August 8, a friendly match was held between the teams of the DPR and the LPR at the stadium of the Metallurg football club.
Today there are no former professional football players left in the Republics, but this situation has given many talented guys the opportunity to prove themselves. One of the players of the national team of the DPR - Nigerian. Six years ago, he came to Donbass to study, got a family and stayed in Makeyevka. He did not leave this land even in modern times and now plays football for the Republic. The situation is similar in the Luhansk People's Republic. The case is still complicated by the fact that the Avangard Stadium, where the players were training. Now it is difficult for athletes to train.
Before the match, ill-wishers intimidated people with provocations, but, nevertheless, several thousand fans came to the stadium.
The DNI team won with an 4: 1 score. Lugansk team scored a goal in added time. Fans chanted: "Donetsk, Lugansk are one, we are invincible." Now, the LC team will have to prepare for the return match, and the DNR players will have to play on the field of the fraternal Republic.
The players expressed their willingness to fight with the Ukrainian teams as well, but Kiev is unlikely to agree. Many of the guys today are on the notorious Peacemaker website. They were recorded as terrorists, although they did not kill anyone, they just play sports and want peace.
Cultural events are also taking place. August 8 is the birthday of a famous native of Donbass, filmmaker and director Alexander Khanzhonkov. He was unveiled a monument in his small homeland - in Makeyevka. All week in the library to them. N.Krupskaya were showing films shot by the director himself or with the participation of his company - “Khanzhonkov Trading House”.
And on August 9, in the courtyard of the same library, the film “Defense of Sevastopol” was shown. A film featuring Life for Life by Vera Kholodnaya was also shown.
Right during the movie screening, a cannonade was suddenly heard - as a reminder that now it is not on the screen, but in real life, that is the defense of Donetsk, and of Donbas as a whole. The defense is actually from the very same enemies that once tormented Sevastopol, and today they are climbing into the Russian land with the hands of others. But, despite the disturbing sounds, no one left, and the films were watched to the end.
