Day of the Airborne Forces in Donetsk
2 August New Russia celebrated Airborne Forces Day. The head of the Donetsk People's Republic, Alexander Zakharchenko, made a statement saying: “Today, paratroopers are the backbone of the valiant militia of Donbass, the Republican Guard and our officers. In this difficult time, when the enemy set foot on our land, you actually proved loyalty to military duty and the Motherland, becoming a true symbol of fearlessness and a model of fighting spirit. You are always on guard for your Motherland, and victory is your eternal companion. ”
Indeed, many soldiers who served in the Airborne Forces, from the very beginning of the war in the Donbass, went to defend their new state. Albeit not in their direct profile, but they performed the most responsible tasks, participated in the liberation of Saur-Grave, in the battles for Gorlovka, Ilovaisk, Debaltseve - wherever it was most hot.
2 August morning veterans of the airborne troops laid flowers at the monument to the soldiers-internationalists.
The names of the children who died in Afghanistan are carved on the plates of the memorial complex, located near the huge monument in honor of the Great Patriotic War "Your Liberators, Donbass". Everywhere, the soldiers performed their duty — both when liberating their native land from the Nazis, and near Kandahar and Salang, and now in the struggle with the new fascists.
Giving a debt to the memory of the internationalist fighters who died in Afghanistan, those gathered lined up and went to the monument to V.F. Margelov, recently installed in Donetsk.
Along the way, they happily waved at a flying DPR plane, from which several paratroopers jumped.
From the windows of many passing cars flying the banners of the DPR and the Airborne Forces.
Near the monument to the legendary "Uncle Vasya" there are already gathered people - those who served in the landing party, militia, civil sympathizers, and activists of the organization "Free Donbass". Many fighters came with families, with children.
Flowers were laid at the foot of the monument.
The ceremony of awarding the best fighters, which was attended by the deputy of the People’s Council of the DPR Yuri Sivokonenko and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic Alexander Kofman.
Among the awards are not only medals and memorable signs, but also several bottles of Margelov brandy.
Then the people moved to the field kitchen. Porridge was delicious. Not without the traditional "front".
Simultaneously with this event, there was also another - on Petrovsky Square. Veterans of the Airborne Forces also gathered there. In addition, they commemorated the victims of the shelling of the Petrovsky district exactly a year ago - August 2 2014.
And in Lugansk, a monument was opened to the fallen defenders of the LC. As a memorial, an infantry fighting vehicle was installed, which participated in the battles.
It should be added that right before the Day of the Airborne Forces, “ukropovskie” punishers subjected the outskirts of Donetsk to another shelling, as a result of which two people were injured in the Kuybyshevsky district. Three houses were damaged on Mirgorodskaya Street and another one on Krasnoznamennaya Street. Part of the city was left without electricity. And on the night of August 1, Gorlovka was subjected to cruel shelling, a young woman was killed, and her son was seriously injured and died in hospital. In such a situation, in spite of everything, holidays are now taking place on the land of New Russia. Through pain, through mourning, through death.
