In 1991, he was called up for military service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, served in the North Caucasus District of the Interior Forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. For a long time he served in the detachment of the special-purpose militia "Bulat" of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate in the Moscow Region of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. Repeatedly he went on business trips to the Chechen Republic and other regions of the North Caucasus, he participated in numerous military and special operations.
From 14 on April 2007, police major Golovashkin was in the Republic of Dagestan, where a special comprehensive preventive operation was carried out. Police major Golovashkin was appointed deputy commander of the OMSN Bulat mobile group, included in the forces assigned to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Dagestan in the Khasavyurt direction. Having excellent professional training and extensive experience in performing special law enforcement tasks in hot spots, he successfully coped with the work assigned to him during this official trip. Police major Golovashkin personally participated in the operational-search and special events, which were aimed at preventing a number of terrorist acts and especially grave crimes on the territory of the Republic of Dagestan.
23 on April 2007 of the year during such targeted operational search activities was received noteworthy information that two active participants in illegal armed groups were observed in Pervomaiskoye, Khasavyurt district of the Republic of Dagestan. They were part of a gang of the so-called Emir of the Shelkovsky sector, which in March 2007 was destroyed during a special operation in the village of Gudermes (Republic of Chechnya). Members of this gang, which operated mainly in the Shelkovsky district of the Chechen Republic and in the adjacent territories of Dagestan, were wanted for committing a number of particularly grave crimes against government officials and terrorist acts in these regions and in the whole in the Southern Federal District. Having planned the operation to capture militant gangsters, the OMSN Bulat mobile group of the KM GUVD in the Moscow Region advanced to the intended location of the wanted criminals. According to operational data, gangsters in the village of Pervomayskoye were hiding in the household of a local resident. Noticing the police officers cautiously approaching, in order to block the home ownership, the criminals opened the automatic weapons fire on law enforcement officers from assault groups and cover groups. Quickly assessing the situation, the police major Golovashkin under enemy fire bravely and resolutely brought his assault team to the intended line. Not wanting to give up, the militants attempted a breakthrough. They injured a fighter from a neighboring unit who participated in the police special operation and went directly to the assault group of police major Golovashkin. The outcome of the fight was decided by the coordinated actions of the entire assault group. Accurately firing from his machine gun, the police major Golovashkin destroyed one militant, and the subordinates of the deputy commander of the Bulat mobile group eliminated the second thug who did not have time to hide in the house. Thus, as a result of this special operation, the most dangerous armed bandits-extremists were neutralized. Weapons and ammunition were found and seized from the liquidated militants: one machine gun and two pistols, one of which was with a silencer, as well as over 270 cartridges for them and 6 hand grenades.
8 May 2007 received operational information that the next day, at the time of the celebrations in Khasavyurt in honor of the next anniversary of the Great Victory, an organized criminal group under the leadership of a local resident planned to carry out a number of terrorist acts. The members of this gang group intended to make an attempt on the life of the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Dagestan, as well as on the heads of the municipal department of internal affairs and the regional police unit. Local and seconded operatives and officers of other law enforcement agencies' services received timely attention to the information received in a timely manner. It was known that this bandit group had already committed a whole series of particularly audacious criminal demarches: an attempt on the life of the head of the OBOP of the city of Khasavyurt, militia colonel Zabitov SM; the murder of an officer of a separate battalion of the patrol police of the police Eskerkhanova R.V. and citizen Oshitova H. D .; an armed attack on the servicemen of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, as a result of which Senior Sergeant Kilarev VA was killed; shooting a car with workers of the Khasavyurt police department, when police lieutenant Datsayev MM was injured. and policeman-driver Makarevich SL; explosions of improvised explosive devices in the territory of the city of Khasavyurt and the Khasavyurt district, causing human casualties; robbery attacks on local residents, in order to seize their property and cash. After confirming the information about the whereabouts of the gang members, the employees of the mobile group of the Moscow-based special-purpose militia detachment Bulat blocked one of the households on Pobeda Street in the city of Khasavyurt. Due to the particular danger of the gang, it was ordered to destroy the bandits on the spot with the slightest resistance. Police Major Golovashkin personally led the assault team. With all the necessary precautionary measures, the personnel of the assault group entered the household. However, there were no militants in the household; during the inspection of the premises by police major Golovashkin, an improvised explosive device was discovered, the mechanism of which was cocked. Police major Golovashkin realized that the militants had probably expected to blow up the building when there were more law enforcement and ordinary citizens in it and in the vicinity. In this situation, the senior security officer of the Moscow Region Special Police Department, police major Golovashkin, made a decision to evacuate employees and citizens to a safe distance and caused special engineering equipment with a radio-signal suppression complex, which excluded the possibility of remote detonation. Upon further inspection of this household, three more high-power improvised explosive devices were discovered. And in the trunk of the car "VAZ-2106", also prepared for demolition, there were a total of 140 kilograms of explosives. In the cleared household, the arsenal was withdrawn: AKS machine gun with GP-25, two AK-74 machine guns, a PB pistol, grenade launchers: one RPG-22 and three RPG-18, special cartridges and around 1180 units of various ammunition.
12 in May 2007, realizing specific operational information, for a special operation, the men of the OMSN near Moscow moved to a household on another Khasavyurt street. According to their data, there was a group of militant saboteurs who were also preparing to commit a series of acts of terror in Dagestan territory. When the blocking groups were put up, the rest of the special operation, who had joined the assault groups, received an order to check the household. As the most trained officer, the senior security officer of the Special Police Station Bulat, the police major Golovashkin, led one of the assault groups. After checking the first floor, the assault group climbed to the next flight of stairs. Bypassing the second floor, police major Golovashkin in the depths of the room found the bandits, who were already prepared to fire at the assault team. At that moment, the deputy commander of the Special Purpose Special Forces "Bulat" militia lieutenant colonel Solomatin, who led the detachment's mobile group on the Dagestan business trip, hit the firing line. Clearly realizing that there is no longer any time to rebuild the combat order, the police major Golovashkin simultaneously closed the fire on the militants and closed the mobile commander with a voice and gave a voice to the command: "Back." Immediately from the depths of the room, the militants opened heavy fire from automatic weapons, concentrating them on police major Golovashkin. At the same time they were injured in the face, head and arm. Militants threw self-made grenades of great power, and after the explosions lieutenant colonel Solomatin was injured, and some of the personnel of the assault group were contused. Despite the injuries sustained, showing dedication and perseverance, the police major Golovashkin remained in the combat order of the assault group, continuing to fire back from the machine gun, covering the withdrawal of his subordinates. Only after all the wounded officers were taken out of the insurgents' fire, was he evacuated to a safe place. Thanks to his courage and fortitude, the lives of eight people from the assault group were saved. All militants were destroyed at the scene of the battle.
By decree of the President of the Russian Federation of February 11, for courage and heroism shown in the line of duty in conditions fraught with risk to life on the territory of the North Caucasus region, police major Golovashkin Alexander Nikolaevich was awarded the title Hero of the Russian Federation.
