Turkish armored personnel carrier PARS 4x4
The PARS 4x4 wheeled armored personnel carrier, the newest member of the PARS family, designed and manufactured by FNSS Defense Systems, was shown at the international defense exhibition IDEF, held in Istanbul in May 2015.
The machine, designed to meet the operational needs of Turkey’s ground forces on the battlefield, was designed by the Ankara research and development center of FNSS.
PARS 4x4 was developed in four versions: a command post, an armored tactical vehicle with a combat module, a reconnaissance variant and an anti-armored variant. Other vehicles of the PARS family include the PARS 6x6 and PARS 8x8 armored vehicles.

Design and characteristics of the wheeled armored personnel carrier PARS 4x4
The armored personnel carrier PARS 4x4 has an open architecture and can swim. The machine can be transported by military transport aviatione.g. C130H, A400, C17, C-5 Galaxy and CH-47 Chinook.
Machine dimensions: length 5 meters, width 2,5 meters and height 1,9 meters. It accommodates five crew members, located on energy absorbing seats. Roof-mounted cameras provide a high level of day and night situational awareness for the driver and commander, while windows provide an increased field of view.
The hydraulic winch is fixed in the front, it allows self-pulling if necessary. For landing the landing of the crew from each side there are two doors. The commander's panel and the emergency signal panel, as well as the electrical system compatible with the standards MIL STD 1275 and MIL STD 461, are installed in the machine.
The machine is able to overcome the deep with the rapid flow of water, using two water cannons in the stern of the machine.
Arms mounted on a wheeled armored personnel carrier
The PARS version of the 4x4 PARS is armed with a remote-controlled weapon module with a 12,7-mm machine gun, while the armored version can be equipped with 7,62-mm and 12,7-mm machine guns or 40-mm grenade launchers. A remote-controlled anti-tank guided missile complex is installed on the anti-tank variant.
Protection armored vehicle PARS 4x4
The ballistic materials used in the car provide protection from mines and improvised explosive devices. Bulletproof windows ensure that those sitting inside the car are protected from ballistic threats and physical attacks.
Engine and transmission
The PARS 4x4 armored car is equipped with a diesel engine running on F34 diesel (JP8) and having a specific power 25 – 30 hp / t.
A fully automatic transmission is connected to the engine. Independent double-wishbone hydropneumatic suspension offers the best ride, while locking the axle differential provides increased stability on slippery surfaces and soft soils.
The machine is equipped with working hydropneumatic brakes with anti-lock braking system, as well as parking brakes with spring drive and hydraulic disconnection built into the transmission. Wheels with armor resistant inserts with a centralized wheel inflation system provide all-terrain maneuverability.
Driving characteristics of the PARS 4x4 armored personnel carrier
The tactical vehicle PARS 4x4 develops maximum speed on the 120 highway km / h and on the water 8 km / h. Power reserve is more than 700 km, the angles of the front and rear overhang are 54 ° and 42 °, respectively. The machine can overcome 70% slopes and side slopes up to 40%. The armored personnel carrier can overcome a vertical obstacle 50 cm high and a trench 90 cm wide, the turning radius is approximately 7 meters.
