Turkish tanks invade Iraq

Turkish tanks invade IraqTurkey launched a military operation against separatists from the Kurdish Workers Party (PKK) in northern Iraq, Reuters reported, citing its sources.

Now the column of Turkish armored vehicles is moving deep into Iraq, heading for the separatist camp in 20 kilometers from the Iraqi-Turkish border near the city of Zakho. It is assumed that around 400 Kurdish militants are based in this area.

Agence France-Presse notes that 20 are involved in the operation tanks and 30 trucks.

The invasion of Iraq was a response to the attack of Kurdish militants on several military posts in southeastern Turkey, which killed more than 20 of the Turkish military. The separatist rally was one of the biggest since 1984, when the PKK began an armed struggle for the independence of the Kurdish-populated part of Turkey.

Earlier, Turkish troops several times carried out large-scale operations against the PKK in Iraq. In particular, ground forces supported by aviation and artillery entered northern Iraq in 2008 and 2010.

The parliament of Turkey 6 of October by a majority of votes extended the law for the year, allowing the troops of this country to conduct operations in the territory of northern Iraq against the PKK militants.

Earlier it was reported that in the Turkish operation to liquidate the bases of the PKK, which began in mid-October, about 10 thousands of servicemen take part with the support of aviation and armored vehicles.

In total, over the years of the armed conflict, the Turks and Kurds killed more than 40 thousands of people, and Turkey, the EU and the US included the PKK in the lists of terrorist organizations.

There are two scenarios in the Middle East. This is either the birth of a new Ottoman empire, or the disintegration of states within the borders that currently exist, into smaller tribal territories. Both of these scenarios are fraught with internecine wars and genocide.

It will turn out as with the Ottoman Empire. They re-show until their horns are broken off for the next 100 years.

Under Saddam, such disgrace would not have happened for sure.

Hussein in 1982 entered into an agreement with Turkey on a joint fight against the Kurds. This agreement gave the Turkish and Iraqi units the right to pursue Kurdish militants on each other’s territory for 17 km. Everything - no outrage

It is not clear why Turkey cannot give the Kurds autonomy within Turkey, even if they have their own president, their own republic such as Tatarstan, or Chechnya .. I think they would calm down right away and save the country .. Since the Kurds are at war, they don’t want to be in full submission, although after all the punitive Turkish operations I think the Kurds will not want any autonomy, only full independence .. the Turks punished themselves.
