An engineering brigade with a training center in Murom is being formed in the engineering troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

In Murom (Vladimir region), the Ministry of Defense is creating a training center for the emerging pontoon-bridge brigade of engineering troops. Chief of Engineer Forces Lieutenant-General Yuri Stavitsky in an interview RIA News announced that the new brigade, which he called unique, will consist not only of pontoon and bridge-building battalions, but also of airborne units. It is not entirely clear yet what specific “airborne units” in the composition of the engineering troops in question.
The equipment is supposed to equip the brigade with ferry-bridge machines.

By the end of the year a pontoon-bridge brigade will be formed - a serious compound, the only one in the Armed Forces. She will have quite large opportunities to build crossings on water barriers. In Murom, the equipment of the training center for this unique connection has already begun.
For reference: PMM-2М equipment is used as a ferry-bridge machine. The capacity of the ferry, consisting of two such machines, is 85 tons. The length of the ferry is 20 m, the time of its assembly is about 8 min.
