In the early 90s, the Volgograd Tractor Plant joint-stock company created a new 3S2 anti-tank self-propelled gun on the extended base of the BMD-25 landing assault vehicle. The artillery part for this machine was developed in Yekaterinburg by specialists of the artillery factory No. 9, producing both tank guns and artillery systems of caliber up to 152 mm. Although the self-propelled gun was originally intended for the Russian airborne troops — it was designed for parachute landing with crew on board from the Il-76 military transport aircraft — they are now also being offered to the marines to provide anti-tank and fire support during landing operations . The control compartment is located in front of the self-propelled gun’s hull, the fighting compartment with the tower occupies the middle part of the vehicle, and the engine-transmission compartment is located in its stern. In the stowed position, the commander of the car sits to the right of the driver, and the gunner to the left. Each crew member has observation devices with day and night channels built into the roof. The commander’s combined sight is stabilized in two planes and combined with a laser sight to guide 125-mm shells along the laser beam.

The gunner's sight is stabilized in the vertical plane and includes a laser rangefinder, which provides the ballistic computer with constantly changing target data. The main armament of the CAU 2C25 consists of an 125-mm smoothbore tank gun 2А75, based on the 125-mm tank gun 2А46, which is installed on the main battle tanks T-72, T-80 and T-90. Considering the need to install the cannon on a lighter chassis, the specialists of the artillery plant №9 equipped the cannon with a new type of recoil device. The 2А75 gun is equipped with an ejector and a thermal insulation casing, but does not have a muzzle brake. It is completely stabilized in the vertical and horizontal planes and firing the same 125-mm ammunition with separate-sleeve loading, which is used for firing from the 2-46 smooth-bore tank gun. In addition, the 2А75 cannon’s ammunition includes a laser-guided projectile that targets the target at a distance of up to 4000 m. The maximum rate of fire is 7 shots per minute. Loading the gun by using a horizontal automatic loader mounted behind the self-propelled gun tower. It contains an 22 shot, equipped and ready for immediate use. When loading into the breech of the gun, the projectile is first fed, then the propellant charge in the semi-flammable sleeve case. In case of failure of the automatic loader, it is possible to load the gun manually.
As an auxiliary weapon on the anti-tank self-propelled gun, a PKT machine gun, paired with a 7,62-mm machine gun and equipped with ammunition from 2000 ammunition, equipped with one ribbon, is installed. Since the 2C25 ACS was developed on the basis of the BMD-3, many chassis and power units of the base machine were used in its design. The multi-fuel diesel engine 2В-25-2, which develops the maximum power of 06 kW, is installed in the engine compartment of the SAU 2С331. A hydromechanical transmission with a hydro-volumetric rotation mechanism is interlocked with it. The automatic gearbox has five forward gears and the same number of reverse gears. Individual suspension, hydropneumatic, providing a change in the value of clearance in the range from 190 to 590 mm from the driver's seat, In addition, the hydropneumatic suspension provides high permeability and smoothness. The chassis, in relation to one side, consists of seven single rollers, four supporting rollers, front drive wheel and rear wheel guide wheel. There is a hydraulic track tensioning mechanism. Steel caterpillar When driving on a highway, the car develops a maximum speed of 65-68 km / h, and on dry dirt roads it shows an average speed of 45 km / h. Standard equipment of the machine includes a computerized fire control system, a protection system against weapons mass destruction and a set of night vision devices.

Like other Russian light armored combat vehicles, the 2C25 self-propelled gun is floating and moves in the water with the help of two jet propulsion units, which allow it to reach speeds of 8-10 km / h. To increase the buoyancy of the car used rollers with closed air chambers and powerful water pumps, pumping water from the hull. The machine has good seaworthiness and, being afloat, can effectively operate in the presence of waves in the 3 score, including aimed fire in the forward sector of shelling, equal to 70 °.

Serdyukov is not going to buy for the troops, but it’s not a bad support for the airborne forces in vain. Of course, booking is easy, but it’s quite suitable for ambush operations, and the high-explosive action of a 125 mm shell is quite acceptable. In general, it would not hurt to test the car in combat conditions and then findings.

It would be nice for the officials from our Ministry of Defense to recall that at the time, each of our airborne divisions included a battalion equipped with ASU-85 in the amount of 31 units. ...
But alas and ah, while at the head of our Moscow Region there are gentlemen like today's field-assistant, we will not see anything like this ...

        Greetings!
Vasily, what are you talking about today's "gentleman in a jacket" and has no close clue. Normal needs a Defense Ministry with an aodemia and rank, knowing both tactics and requirements and needs, and so on.
your train of thought is normal and understandable!
        good luck!

Lightweight for such a tool, although it has the right to life, especially with such maneuverability.

The Octopus tank is vital for our marines. It is a pity that they no longer buy it for the Navy.
