The booster rocket Energy-M and its last dwelling
By the end of 80-s, on its basis a whole family of space rockets of various power was designed, including the launch vehicles Energia-M, Energia-2 and Vulkan. But only Energia-M was beyond the scope of the drawings.
1. As a start-up complex, Energia-M used the existing complex CCS providing the launch of the Energia launch vehicle. To verify the achievement of this compatibility (and many other tests), a life-size, full-size dimensional, technological, rocket launcher was built and installed in a purpose-built building with the central unit installed. 25 December 1991 was installed on the UKSS launching table, and two days later the model was returned to the Dynamic Test Stand building.
Since then, nearly a quarter of a century has passed, and the layout still rests inside. The Dynamic Test Stand, with its 170-meter height, is the tallest building at Baikonur. Rising a white tower above the desert, it makes a lasting impression.
2. The clock stopped, the windows in the building lost their glass, inside there is a complete rout and desolation. However, the overall technological layout has hardly changed over the years.

5. Energy-M was created as a replacement for the Proton launch vehicle tested, but “dirty” by the fuel used, while surpassing it by one and a half times the mass of the payload put into orbit.
6. The design value reached 35 tons into near-Earth orbit and 6,5 tons into geostationary orbit. 12 tons of cargo could be sent to the orbit of the moon.

9. The central unit of the launch vehicle "Energy-M" consists of fuel tanks and is divided into four compartments - transient, inter-tank, tail and propulsion. The uppermost of them is transitional - a head fairing is attached to it.
10. The inter-tank compartment houses control and telemetry equipment. The height of the central unit together with the fairing is 50,5 meters, with a diameter of 7,7.

13. The engine uses one RD-0120 operating on liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen with a 190 ton-force in vacuum and 147,6 ton-force in the atmosphere. The engine is installed on the layout (possibly a layout) with the number N5251231155.

17. The booster is installed on the starting-docking unit "I". This unit serves as the lower power base plate, to which the blocks of the first stage are attached. In this way, the missile is transported on the transport and installation unit, and installed in a vertical position at the start.
18. The unit also performs the function of a protective device that protects the launch vehicle from the effects of the return flow of the operating rocket propulsion systems when launching the carrier. Hydrogen, oxygen, kerosene, helium, gaseous nitrogen, freon, oil for steering gears and compressed air are fed through the starting and docking block.

24. From the roof of the stand offers a wonderful view of the desert and the neighboring launch complexes. The closest of them is the complex from which the “Buran” took off. And before that it was used in the Soviet lunar program. Behind it you can see the masts of the UKSS - the Universal Space Stand Start, from which Energia-M was to fly.
25. On the other hand, you can see the building of the installation and testing complex. A pair of transport and installation units — special railway platforms for the transportation of the Energia-Buran and Energiya-M bundles — froze in front of its entrance.

28. And in the middle of 90, the developer of Energia-M RSC Energia lost the state competition for the creation of a new heavy launch vehicle, giving preference to the GKNPTs them. MV Khrunicheva with its Angara launch vehicle. But it is already completely different. story.
