Why do American media empires buy Russian regional Internet portals?
The end product Americans liked. Moreover, I liked it so much that within a few years after its creation, Hearst Corporation literally conquered the minds of tens of thousands, then hundreds of thousands, and in the XX century already millions of readers (plus viewers). Today, the empire created by William Randolph Hearst has dozens of various newspapers and magazines, television channels and Internet resources in the United States, covering at least 18% of the American audience. For a sated media audience of the States, this is more than an impressive figure.
However, for some time now the media industry Hearst Corporation, in which the descendants of the main American gossip and propagandist William Hurst, have started, has begun to show signs of attention to the Russian media market. In principle, nothing reprehensible ... The media market in modern Russia has itself grown out of worn American jeans and thrice-chewed gum, and therefore leaves within itself the potential to be interested in media moguls from the United States. However, along with such representative offices of well-known informational brands like Cosmopolitan, Esquire, Marie Claire, not everyone knows, but in Russia with a touch of a certain yellowness of the “Star-Hit”, “Va-bank”, “Antenna.Telesemy”, Empire, Hearst Corporation Having merged with InterMediaGroup Viktor Shkulev (former head of Komsomolskaya Pravda), she suddenly began to express interest in buying Russian city information portals. The purchase is purposeful, and even a separate “structural unit” - Regional Network Hearst Shkulev Digital (RNHSD) appears in the Hearst Shkulev Media conglomerate, which is responsible for the acquisition and subsequent operation of urban Runet portals.
Interestingly, the portals are regional, and they have a lot of media empires that came out of the brain brains of William Hirst. Judge for yourself how many Russian regions cover this large-scale project (by the way, this is Hearst Shkulev Media site):
From the same site:
Further, Hearst Shkulev Media reports:
Most importantly: the loyalty of a regional audience to their own city portals is several times higher than to general federal sites, often poorly adapted to regional characteristics. This will significantly improve the effectiveness of advertising.
As the saying goes, what we have in the bottom line: but we have that in dozens of Russian regions a powerful network is formed with 520 millions of pages of the most diverse information that 20 millions of unique visitors each month get acquainted with on average! Of course, it’s far from Facebook, but there is potential, and who said that gentlemen from Hearst Corporation are going to stop there?
By the way, Hearst Corporation acquired its part of the project from the French partners of Victor Shkulyov - Hachette. What prevents the American media empire to buy back a part of the package from Shkulev himself? As if nothing interferes ... oh yeah! .. The acquisition of a stake in the French Hachette took place in 2011 year. In the 2011 year, when the well-known “marsh” raging took place in Russia, and when all sorts of “occupations” were trying to overlap through all possible edges. In this connection, the phrase of a famous Russian journalist may be relevant: “Coincidence? I do not think ... "
Although while the path will be a coincidence ... We look further. All of the city informational portals listed above, as well as branded resources, seem not to be stitched with any single topic. Everything seems to be generally very pretty and democratic: if you want, look for a job in Perm, if you want, learn to cut lapheads in Krasnodar, and if you want to sell parrots in the Tomsk region. However, Hearst Corporation would not have become a powerful media empire if it had not operated according to strictly followed laws. William Hirst even knows about the laws of the brainchild Wikipedia. The main law - the excitement of reader interest at any cost. Even news artificially generated by the journalists themselves or the owners of the publication, this is also in the order of things for the Hirst empire, which today displays considerable interest in the Russian regional electronic platforms. It was with the help of carefully structured publications, which often could not do without a frank disinformation, that Mr. Hurst at one time achieved enormous political influence in the United States, and Hearst Corporation in the States still has considerable political influence today. On the nature of the activities of the brainchild of Hirst-Sr., called, no less, the king of the free press (but is this press free? ..) says his slogan: "If there were beautiful pictures, I’ll ensure the war." This phrase is attributed to Hirst, who received from his journalist working in Cuba in 1898, information that Spain does not wage war against Cuba. Hirst promised to provide ...
Of course, you can be guided by the proverb about who remembers the old ... You can say that this is just deeply suspicious of American projects in Russia. But today around Russia, and in Russia itself, there are enough examples of when even the most seemingly neutral projects (NPOs, Internet portals, blogs, etc.) that are not related to each other at any given time, time suddenly began to work, let's say, on one frequency - as if on cue, like a click of fingers, advancing a point of view that interests the host. After all, where large business (and the business of the American supercorporation Hearst Corporation) is larger to search for, there is usually politics at a certain point in time, which is able to express itself. And how even millions of Internet users and readerships, independent of each other, can be used is well known for a whole series of so-called “facebook” revolutions (successful and unsuccessful), whose legs grew out of the United States in a strange way ...
Well, and how to do without mentioning materials from Russian city portals, in fact, under the control of the American Hearst Corporation - materials that try not to stick out on the front pages, but do not hide in remote cellars managed from a single center of Internet resources.
Portal "Sochi Express" tells about where Sochi residents are ready to move, not finding decent work in the city. The material is entitled: “Sochi residents are ready to move to Belarus and Italy”. If you read the whole material, you can see that in third place in popularity for the relocation of non-working Sochi residents (suddenly!) Ukraine ...
From the material:
Such an unobtrusive little idea: they say, there is a job in a “democratic” Ukraine, unlike our “Kremlin-occupied” Sochi ...
Another materialchik of the same portal:
“Food cards are returning to Russia”. The fact that we are talking about the project of targeted assistance for the poor is hardly possible to understand by the title. Hurst applauds ...
And this already writes Nizhny Novgorod portal: “A large western company is looking for a city manager in Nizhny Novgorod”. The speech seems to be about an ordinary sales representative, but readers from the headline may conclude that the mayor’s office in Nizhny Novgorod is already being trafficked ... - Fly around, hurry ...
On the same portal - “The office of Nizhny Novgorod human rights activists defeated in Chechnya”. The fact that, in fact, Nizhny Novgorod human rights activists have forgotten in Chechnya, and why there are no Chechen human rights activists in Nizhny Novgorod, the portal in this news for some reason does not tell ...
Novosibirsk portal NGS acquaints its readers with the opinion of a number of “experts” who are convinced that China is not such a partner for Russia, since “the Chinese still use maps on which Siberia is Chinese territory”. From the material:
Well, as if by chance: "In Novosibirsk, engaged in the revival of bomb shelters".
So far everything is unobtrusive, accidental and seemingly haphazard ...
But, having burnt on milk, as they say, we are blowing on water by definition. Tahriri and Maidan appear only in fairy tales of the Western media spontaneously, and only in fairy tales of the Western media their organizers are “ONAGUE” ...
If overseas wizards of public relations conceive their entire multimillion audience to translate into a suitable frequency for themselves (even without the usual social networks), then after a while it may not be difficult for them - the portals are independent, and people always want to feel independent, not always conscious That behind this beautiful little word can hide.
