UN Report: Peacekeepers 2008 to 2013 carried out 160 sexual acts against minors in Africa and Central America
The report contains information on 160 cases of sexual activity of UN troops on children and adolescents. It is reported that “peacekeepers” used children to satisfy their sexual desires, bribing those with clothes, food and even ordinary drinking water, which for the poorest countries of the world has become a real treasure.
The report says that the facts of sexual exploitation of minors by representatives of the UN peacekeeping missions have decreased, but this is only because the victims refuse to cooperate with the investigative structures, worrying about their lives.
It should be noted that since 2003, a UN ban on acts of a sexual nature with representatives of the population of countries in which the UN performs a peacekeeping mission. Acts of a sexual nature in relation to children are generally a criminal offense. True, the criminal prosecutions of peacekeepers who have "distinguished themselves" in Africa are not yet known if criminal cases are initiated at all.
For reference: the UN peacekeeping contingent in Africa includes military personnel from countries such as France, Germany, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine and some others. Between 2008 and 2013 the Russian Armed Forces military personnel as part of the UN peacekeeping force in countries where sexual acts against minors were detected were not.
