New samples of Georgian weapons

45
In honor of the independence of Georgia 26 in May 2015, Tbilisi hosted the already traditional open exhibition of equipment and weapons developed by the Delta State Scientific-Technical Center (STC), which in April passed under the control of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia (after a year’s stay under the auspices of the Ministry of Economy) and sustainable development of Georgia). Although the main exposition volume of the exhibition was made up of already well-known samples, however, a number of new products developed by STC Delta were also demonstrated, which are mentioned below.

Didgori 1 and 2 armored vehicles of various options in the exposition of STC "Delta" of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia.

The Didgori 2 armored car developed by Delta SEC of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia is equipped with a prototype model of the "universal rocket module". The module is a launcher of unguided missiles with the ability to use three types of missiles - caliber 57 mm (apparently, NAR C-5), 80 mm (apparently, NAR C-8) and 107 mm.

The export version of the Didgori 2 armored car in a "tropicalized" "desert" configuration. The car in 2014 passed evaluation tests in Saudi Arabia, passing 800 km there.

Armored car Didgori 1, upgraded with the installation of a remote-controlled machine gun turret development STC "Delta".

Armored version of the bulldozer Volvo L90E Tbilisi.

120-mm mortar with sliding devices and hover power drives, designed for installation on armored vehicles. Presumably, it should be used as part of a self-propelled system based on the Didgori 3 armored car with a wheel formula 6х6.

Remotely controlled machine gun installations for equipping armored vehicles. The closest one is equipped with a mock-up launcher for six missiles of an indefinite type (the choice according to the customer's request is an ATGM, MANPADS or NUR).

9-mm submachine gun.

Satevari sniper rifle chambered for 0.338 Lapua Magnum (8,6 × 70 mm).

Georgian unmanned helicopter

The most interesting object presented at the exhibition of equipment and weapons developed in honor of the independence of Georgia 26 in May 2015 in Tbilisi, developed by the State Science and Technology Center (STC) Delta of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia, was an unmanned reconnaissance and attack helicopter developed by SEC Delta .

Apparently, the helicopter was built by reworking the RotorWay Exec 162F American light two-seater piston helicopter, retaining part of the fuselage, landing gear, engine and carrier system of the latter. Recall that one copy of a purchased formerly used Exec 162F helicopter was demonstrated at a similar exposition of the Delta SEC in Tbilisi last year. The status of the development of the Delta SEC unmanned helicopter is unclear, and, apparently, the presented instance has not yet passed any flight tests.

SEC "Delta" did not bring any data from an exposed unmanned helicopter, but the sample was equipped with two six-barreled 7,62-mm machine guns М139 and two model quadruple launch launchers 80-mm NAR C-8, as well as a round-the-clock electronic-optical turret. This weapon is, undoubtedly, purely exhibition. The base Exec 162F helicopter has a maximum take-off weight of 680 kg and is equipped with a RotorWay RI-162 piston engine with an 150 hp take-off power running on gasoline (AI-95 level).

The Donor of an unmanned helicopter developed by the Delta SEC is a second-hand copy of the RotorWay Exec 162F, an American lightweight manned twin-piston helicopter, demonstrated at the Delta SEC in 2014.

There was such a wonderful car "Kolkhida" in the times of the USSR, during the absence of unemployment, severely wandering drivers were exiled to this shaitan-mobile as punishment. It seems to me that these miraculous samples of Georgian technology did not go far in the quality of execution from the very notorious Colchis)))

Uh! Zachem said so! In Tiflis, Su-25 did! True, when they made the first airplane and Samoilovich saw HOW they made wings wassat ..... The director of the plant simply ran away from the territory, and Samoilovich asked for an epoxy and began to putty - to level the wing surface. laughing

"There is no more terrible beast - a lynx and a truck from Kutaisi" - the Georgian "Kolkhida" is still a pepelats. And the Su-25, produced at the Tbilisi Aviation Plant, constantly had problems with the build quality, more precisely, with the stability of this very quality, which was of a pronounced seasonal nature - in particular, during the harvesting of fruits and grapes, the quality dropped sharply, as did the volume of production, since most of the factory workers stupidly did not go to work, preferring to harvest in their own gardens or trying to get away from work early for the same purpose. And the military representatives could only uselessly swear when accepting the aircraft. And no one could do anything about this situation, or maybe they didn't want to.
          I have the honor.

In the 1960-ies a small Kutaisi automobile plant (KAZ) named after G.K. Ordzhonikidze of the Georgian SSR fell into the sphere of manufacturing wheeled military equipment. First, he assembled dump trucks and truck tractors on the ZIS and ZIL chassis, and then switched to the production of short-wheel tractors of his own design with cabs above the engine. The quality of their assembly was so low that there was simply no question of any use of KAZ vehicles in military affairs

The BTR-40 is clearly visible in the Didgori design. Let them train, it is necessary to keep the people busy with something, until they were accepted into Europs and NATAs. But the armament (with the exception of the "Minigun") is something entirely Soviet, somehow the rearmament is tight on NATO models. And the MP-5 does not need to be wrapped up with plastic on the outside, they would try to do their own.

          Dear, Saudi Arabia

And what about the Saudis? I tried not to remember what. I looked and found
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) is one of the largest Gulf countries. In the current situation of instability in the Persian Gulf and the Middle East as a whole, KSA seeks to maintain and strengthen its position in the region by increasing economic and military potential. At the same time, the armed forces are considered as the main guarantor of state security, and improving their technical equipment and combat readiness is a priority. Despite the significant financial and economic potential of the kingdom, the country's leadership does not set itself the task of complete self-sufficiency of military products (military products) of the national armed forces, preferring purchases abroad
          In fairness
Certain results have been achieved by Saudi Arabia in the armored industry. Thus, the private company Abdullah Al Fans Companny for Heavy Industries has mastered the serial production of two modifications of the armored personnel carrier of its own design -AF-40-8-1 "Al-Fahd-1" and AF-40-8 -2 "Al-Fahd-2" (both 8 x 8). The production of armored vehicles has been launched at an enterprise in the city of Dammam near the Persian Gulf coast.

The predecessor of the Al-Fahd-1 and -2 armored personnel carriers was the Al-Faris armored personnel carrier, which was the result of R&D carried out by Saudi specialists for 15 years. The Al-Fahd-1 variant, designed for transporting personnel, is equipped with a turret with a 40-mm cannon, and the Al-Fahd-2, used as a combat reconnaissance vehicle, with a turret with a 40 or 105 mm cannon. In the future, on the basis of an armored personnel carrier, it is planned to create a family of specialized armored vehicles: a headquarters, medical, self-propelled ATGM, ARV and a minelayer.

The production of the Al-Fahd-1 and -2 armored personnel carriers began in 1998 with a limited series of vehicles (100 units for the National Guard). Modern production facilities of the enterprise allow for the serial production of up to 300 armored personnel carriers per year and organize their deliveries to the countries of the Persian Gulf. Along with the development of light armored vehicles, the company is conducting R&D to create a tank of its own design.
That's all, not too much for them

All types of ammunition, including artillery, are being produced, various types of small arms are the ultimate certificate of the Chelyabinsk plant, as well as the KAMAZ plant, the electronic systems of the air defense systems are being modernized in conjunction with the removal of antey. repair and modernization of aviation systems, co-operation with the UAC of Russia, etc. And so the Georgians built the BTR-40. For me, the Israeli modernization of the BTR 40 and BTR 152 is more like it, and the Georgian BTR 6 x 6 will be BTR 152 in a new way ...

Didgori 1 and 2 armored vehicles of various options in the exposition of STC "Delta" of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia.

Yeah, I did. Chassis (frame, engine, transmission, running gear) of an old acquaintance of "Ukrainian" armored vehicles "KRAZ-SPARTAN", "Ford" F-550.

By the way, other models of weapons and military equipment were "developed" by the same STC. There are somehow too many of them for one such machine-building enterprise.
It seems that all this exists so far only as a single exhibition samples.
This amount is clearly not enough in order to seriously talk about full-fledged serial production.

Yes, there is such an opinion) But here I have something different. We had a lot of Kolkhid trucks in our park (there were also diesel dump trucks, “collective farmers,” at the very end of the USSR, but not here). So, they hauled 11,5 ton semi-trailers - they carried metal. And not a single driver of "Colchis" has ever complained about his car, on the contrary, they praised it. In winter, it was warm in the cabin, on the slopes, made by KamAZ. Provided that no one is in the way. As for the build quality, yes, sadness - the new car had to be completely revised. In the late 80s, I had a chance to receive two cars from the plant in Kutaisi. When our cars were kicked out of the factory, we were horrified. I asked the “racers” that everything is so sad? The answer simply killed: - "What do you want? Little boy did it !!!"

Georgians, Georgians, and an unmanned helicopter looks more serious than those Papelos of the Russian assembly that were published on the VO website earlier.
