Triumph C-400

Anti-aircraft rocket The S-400 system is based on the existing Russian S-300 systems, but has significantly greater tactical and technical capabilities compared to these systems - both in terms of area, effectiveness, and variety of targets. The assessments conducted by the developers of the system revealed that, according to the "effectiveness - cost" criterion, the new SAM system provides a gain of 2,5 times compared to existing equipment.

The main developer of the Triumph air defense system is OAO NPO Almaz, named after Academician A. Raspletin. It can be used day and night in any climatic and physiographic conditions with intensive electronic countermeasures. Triumph is a non-strategic ABM system and anti-aircraft defense with the latest software.

"Triumph" - the only system that can selectively work using several types of missiles - both the old ones that were part of the early development (C-300PMU-1, C-300PMU-2) and the new ones created recently. Having a base version of 4 types of missiles with different starting mass and launch range, C-400 allows you to create echeloned air defense, to expand the zone of destruction of the complex and also has great prospects for further modernization.

The high degree of automation of all phases of combat work, the modern elemental base made it possible to significantly reduce the maintenance personnel of the Z-400. The principles of construction and the extensive communications system of the "400" means allows it to be integrated into various levels of control not only of the Air Force, but also of other branches of the Armed Forces.

12-13 July 2007, at the Kapustin Yar training ground (State Central Interspecific Training Grounds of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation), firing of the C-400 "Triumph" was held. Colonel-General Yuriy Vasilyevich Solovyov, head of the KSpN, said: “Shooting was carried out on targets quite difficult. Imagine that the first target was moving at a speed of 2800 meters per second. ... It was launched at a great height and from a great distance. It was a small-sized target. To discover it was to find a pencil in a haystack. But at the height of 16km, the target was destroyed by us. "

On August 6, 2007, the first S-400 division took up combat duty in the Moscow region city of Elektrostal. Every year, the forces Defense should receive 1-2 regiments equipped with this type of complex. It is expected that after the first two years of operation, but not earlier than 2009, the S-400 SAM system may be offered for export outside of Russia
