Sensational interview with a Russian officer - military adviser to Muammar Gaddafi
Chechnya 9 January 1995 of the year. GAZ-66, "shishiga", flies into the base of the federal troops of Khankala. Tarpaulin awning torn by shrapnel. Behind the wheel unshaven major. "Shishiga" slows down near the field hospital. In the back of the wounded soldiers ... So we met then the guard major special detachment Ilya Korenev. Then met many times. And in Moscow, and in the Caucasus.
Therefore, when he called from Libya in August, there was not much surprise. This job. For almost half a year he spent next to Colonel Gaddafi and his family. Ilya has been in treatment in Latin America for a week already: wounding, contusion in the Libyan desert near the border with Algeria.
Business trip through the "caravan"
- How did you get to Libya? Russia, on the other hand, does not officially support Gaddafi.
- The business trip was discharged this spring to Algiers, in a trade mission. But the main task was to get exactly in Tripoli. By agreement through the embassy, on the "caravan" I got to the headquarters of Muammar Gaddafi. Almost immediately, we began to train the personnel of the 32 st reinforced brigade, commanded and commanded by Khamis Gaddafi. Instructing and training in combat in urban environments. The fact that it would be impossible to keep Tripoli became clear around June-July. Therefore, they began to prepare the personnel of the brigade for conducting armed clashes with small autonomous groups both in urban areas and outside settlements. The focus was on sabotage training.
The soldiers and officers of 32 are well prepared. Some trained at SAS, in France. But in Libya, the Russian military school is very respected.
The tactics of fighting in small groups was formed from the experience of the partisans in the Great Patriotic War and - Chechnya. Small groups - 20 – 30 people attack military convoys, undermine the terrain and, after committing sabotage actions, move to safe areas.
- You say "we"? Are we Russia, or are you talking about someone else who was with you in Libya?
- Of course, I was not there alone. All that I can say now, our guys have Gaddafi. As from Russia, mostly retired officers, abbreviated from the Russian army, and specialists from the former fraternal republics.
- You never answered - why were you sent to Tripoli when the Russian authorities officially stated - Gaddafi should leave?
- Who can forbid a high-ranking official to send a subordinate to Algeria on a business trip? For example, through military-technical cooperation? And what kind of introduction is given orally in the office, it is not intended for anyone's ears. My work is judged by results, not by planning and timely reports.
Professionals understand that an attack on Libya is part of a programmed action. The following: Syria, Algeria, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Central Asia and Russia. No matter in what sequence. But Russia, most likely, is the latest. As long as it is surrounded by unfriendly puppet regimes, radars and military bases, in every way they contribute to corruption and the growth of protest moods in the country.
- After this trip you stay in the service?
- I have already sent a report on the dismissal. I know that they requested a personal file. Clearly not for reward. But the service and the apartment is. There is no family. And I'm not going to return to Russia yet. This year a lot has changed, I made certain decisions for myself. Without a piece of paper, I will not cease to be a military man.
Brest Fortress in Tripoli
- You say that it was impossible to keep Tripoli. What was the mistake in the defense?
- This is a mistake not in defense, but in assessing the conflict. She was that Gaddafi lived in two parallel worlds. He did not follow a policy such as, for example, the leader of North Korea. He does not twitch - his oppression. But Gaddafi did not believe in an attack on the country to the last. Even in mid-August, when rocket-bombing attacks were made on Tripoli, in other cities, he talked with Berlusconi and with Sarkozy. They assured him that there would be no ground operation in Tripoli. Several years ago, Gaddafi offered to create a powerful air defense system in full. This could be done through some former Union countries. But he believed that these actions would only tease the United States and Europe. I repeat, both Italy and France, and even Great Britain assured him that there would be no ground military operations against Libya.
A mistake was also a long observation of bribed Libyan officers. It was necessary to arrest them immediately, not to give contagion with impunity to spread. But Gaddafi wanted to reveal as many traitors as possible. Gaddafi’s indecision due to his personal ideas about the course of the conflict served, by the way, as a factor that convinced several high-ranking officers to take a couple million dollars and go to the side of the rebels. Imagine, it is already raining everywhere, stones are falling on your head, and you say it will cost you, it will pass by. Do you convince many to go with you? Especially those who will be important and primary goals for the enemy. The human factor, it is in Africa the human factor.
“How did you manage to get out of Tripoli unscathed?”
- We were warned by Al-Jazeera and CNN. We saw footage of the "victory" of the rebels, taken in Qatar. It was already known about the scenery of Tripoli Green Square in the desert near Doha. They knew why they were. These frames were the signal for an attack for the rebels and saboteurs. Immediately after these cadres throughout the city, the “sleeping cells” of the rebels began to set up roadblocks, break into command posts and apartments of officers who did not betray Gaddafi. The landing of a foreign landing force began in the port. One of the flanks stopped responding. General Eshkal passed the position without a fight. Gaddafi gave the order not to extinguish the fire with fire and move away. Do not turn Tripoli into a cauldron in which army units and civilians "grind". Several hundred suicide bombers refused to execute this order and remained to fight in the city, in an attempt to inflict maximum damage to the enemy, to distract him from the pursuit of the leader and command. They still continue to resist. For more than a month, there are areas in Tripoli where even the Islamists do not agree. This is their choice, this is their city, and I understand them.
The assault began. We left the mansion near the Bab al-Aziziyah base to a small house in the south of the capital. Just a few hours later, we left the city in several cars and headed to a safe place. It turned out to be very timely - three GBU - bunker, heavy bombs hit the house in a row. The cars were ordinary jeeps, there were no Mercedes cars specially assembled for Gaddafi. Why draw attention to yourself? Although I have no doubt that the Americans in many cases knew where Gaddafi was. But the rockets and bombs flew there 5 minutes after they left. They seemed to show him that at any moment he could be destroyed, but so far, apparently, there is a ban on destruction. In the Libyan conflict, great attention is paid to informational and psychological attacks.
- Family members who stayed in Libya, stick together?
- No, the Gaddafi family split up almost immediately. This is the most effective solution. Ordinary Libyans say that if not Gaddafi himself returns, then certainly one of his children. Now someone has left for Tunisia, someone in Algeria, someone in Niger. But the borders are transparent. Khamis stayed in a suburb of Tripoli to organize resistance. Safe in Bani Valide. Neither the colonel himself, nor his children are practically in one place, constantly moving. The most difficult problem is communication. The air is controlled by military personnel and technical means of the 6th fleet USA, RUMO and NSA USA. Therefore, I could not risk transmitting photos and videos. This takes longer than throwing out a “packet” of textual information. But access to the Internet is rare, NATO knows approximately in which areas we are, and blocks any communication.
- Yes, the photos of captured English soldiers were clearly not enough. How did it happen? How did you find out that these are military personnel from SAS, because they do not take documents for military operations?
- Photos will be. The prisoners themselves and the fact of public humiliation of the opposing army are arguments. War is war, and the negotiating table is always there. The more trump cards, the easier the dialogue will go. It was a sabotage group of 30 people. Most of the army of Qatar, 13 British and French. They carried out additional exploration in Bani Walid. Apparently, for the main forces. But the neighborhood of the city was not well known. Locals reported that this group wanders around the city. We were able to carry out the operation and capture them. The Qataris were executed by the Libyans. They are simply wildly hated. How so, they say, a Muslim came to the house of another Muslim and killed his family? Therefore - “iadam” (“execution, death penalty”) and period. The British and the French were separated, interrogated and taken to the bomb shelter. Actually - what did they have to hide? We recorded the names, personal numbers and the name of the part, took pictures and e-mailed to the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Great Britain and France. They offered to give them soldiers without any conditions, for example, anywhere in Libya.
By the way, the car from which information was transmitted was destroyed by a rocket literally in a few hours when it returned to the city. That is, the ether was controlled very tightly. When Britain abandoned its soldiers, we considered the option to take them to Algeria. They gather a press conference, show the world. I was in the same column with the guys of Moussa Ibrahim, who were going to Algeria to negotiate a press conference. Many diplomatic difficulties in the capital would not have given anyway, it was a question of a frontier settlement. On the way, we were fired from helicopters. I was thrown by an explosion from the open body of a jeep. Tuareg fighters were picked up and helped to transport abroad. From there I already got here for treatment. Not that everything went according to plan, but alive.
- For Russia there is a threat from NATO and the United States?
- Of course. Open confrontation at the first stage will not be. The primary task is to again blow up the Caucasus with the help of radical Islamists, to plunge the south of Russia into a local, but large-scale war. Now radical Muslims come to power in the Maghreb. Militants from al-Qaida and other extremist groups. And between Russia and the Mediterranean, the distance is much less than to Afghanistan, and the mountains are smaller and shorter. The US is profitable, Europe and Russia do not. Abd al-Hakim Belhadj - the military commander of Tripoli, claims the first role in the new government of Libya. He is the first person of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG), a recognized terrorist organization by the US State Department.
- No more applicants?
- There is. Colonel deserter Khalifa Haftar, 20 years lived in the United States. Former military judge under Gaddafi - Muhammad Bashir Al-Haddar. For the sake of brevity one can say - Belhadj is the protege of Qatar Al-Haddar is from the Mirarat oligarchs supported by France. Haftar - promoted from the Bengazian oligarchs supported by the United States.
If Belhadj enters the government and he enters, he will be received in world capitals. “Beautiful” - a fighter who is associated with our Caucasian underground, will come to the Kremlin, shake hands with the president.
Also, in addition to radical Islam in Libya, there is an uncontrolled plunder of weapons from the warehouses of the Libyan army. And most of this weapons will go to the Caucasus in the holds of dry cargo. From the ports of North Africa to the coast of the Caucasus - a couple of days. It is unfortunate that those who are called upon to think about the security of our citizens are not able to read at least the reports of NATO analysts. They directly indicate that the illegal export of weapons stolen in Libya is one of the main problems of world security.
- What is the uniqueness of the Libyan war? How is it different from the armed conflicts in which you were?
Every war is unique. Libya is eclectic. Massive propaganda of the Second World War, burning territories, as in Vietnam, bribery and desertion, as in Iraq. There are also "Belarusian partisans". As in all wars, a huge number of civilians die. But the conflict is actually unique. On the one hand, the Tuareg are desert warriors with Berdans of 1908, and the Amazighs with machetes. On the other hand, guided bombs and laser-guided projectiles, Drones- scouts. The clash of civilization and eternity.
According to the territory where the conflict occurs, this is probably one of the largest after the Second World War. But in terms of the number of interests mixed up in this war, if it does not exceed World War II, then it is exactly equivalent.
Very serious sectors are psychological and informational. Constantly over the territory of Libya hang American special propaganda aircraft, flyers are dropped. Provocative reports by Al-Jazeera, the Air Force, CNN, Reuters, and others go through coordination at the NATO Information Center.
Alternative versions of events, special propaganda operations - “fear and fog” is a more accurate motto of the operation “United defender”.
- What are the main tasks now facing the supporters of Gaddafi?
- Everything is simple here. Pure math. On 100% of the population, there is always 5 – 10% opposition and 5 – 10% loyalists. Whatever happens in the country, no matter how the leader behaves, some will always criticize him, while others will always be devoted to him. Neither of them really solve anything. Solve the remaining 80 – 90% of the population, whose opinion may vary in one direction or another. With the help of skillful provocations, bribes, propaganda through the leading Western media, the balance was broken. But the enemies of Gaddafi swung the pendulum too far, with the same force he was destined to swing in the other direction. And this will not necessarily manifest itself in the military or political sphere. I would even say: it is not necessary to limit the territory of Libya. So the main task of the supporters of the Jamahiriya - as in court - to competently present evidence and arguments. The people there are specific. But my heart feels good. Who is friend, who is enemy, what is good and what is bad. The task is actually not even a military one. The military will be like a small addition.
In the military unit, much will depend on the support of the rebels by NATO forces. Basically aviation and radio engineering. If they stop, or at least reduce the number of sorties, as promised, and stop "crushing" the air, then knocking out NPC clowns in the slippers will not be a big problem. With radicals it will be more difficult. There are trained guys from Afghanistan and Pakistan. They know how to handle weapons. And they have nowhere to run, Libya is a foreign country for them.
Probably, now private military companies will enter the country, which will take the protection of oil pipelines and processing plants. Already there is such information from Bregi and Ras Lanuf. There the landing force attempted to land and gain a foothold. While unsuccessful. Therefore, the minimum task will be to blow up these objects constantly. To hide them from missiles arriving from the desert is impossible. In Europe, they must understand that every barrel of oil will cost them dearly. Both in terms of dollars and human lives. The guys from PMCs are also not idiots, they will break such a price for their services that it will be simply unprofitable to maintain them. And the regular troops to put on guard is stupid. They have other tasks.
- Whom do the Libyans support? Gaddafi or new power?
- I would not be in a hurry to call the “new power” by power. Of course, ordinary people support those who give them work and food, and most importantly - safety. There were people in Libya who criticized Gaddafi’s actions, that’s true. But it was a reasonable opposition, to take up arms and cut out the population exactly the thoughts of none of them had. And it was a minority. The new so-called authorities, and even more so the radicals can not ensure stability in Libya now. And they can not in the foreseeable future. Because the majority still, if not for Gaddafi, then for the “times of Gaddafi”.
But in the East, traditionally everything is decided by power and money. If the loyalists win a series of convincing victories, the people will support them. While several cities resist, and around the country, bold attacks of Gaddafists take place here, the people wait in perplexity from what they were “freed” and for what. Continues to compare what was before and what becomes after. And no one likes the conclusions. If positions are taken in Sirte, Bani Walid, other hotbeds of resistance, then public opinion will be on the side of the new authorities. Because of fear. Because there is no other choice. The development of the situation in the region in the near future will be rapid. Within the next month, the direction of further events will be outlined. With the normal information support of the causes of the war and the success of the loyalists, victory will still be for Gaddafi and the supporters of the Jamahiriya.
- What do ordinary Libyans feel today (not Gaddafi soldiers, not PNS rebels)?
- The closest definition is that they feel fooled, beaten, raped and not free. Well, imagine that in 1991, NATO would start bombing the Soviet Union under the pretext of humanitarian aid. And before the bombing was over, the capitalists would have fled to the country to divide oil fields and factories, and the radical priests would begin to break into all the houses ... Both would say that we will show you how to live now. And the latter would add - do not agree - shooting. People would have collapsed in the instinct of self-preservation, for the sake of survival they would even sign some papers and put up new flags so that they would not be killed, that they would give rations, that they would turn on water and electricity. People would wait for the return of the army that went into the woods, wait for the return of the old times. Something like that in Libya is now being thought. But since much blood has been shed, nothing will return to their original positions.
- Do you speak Arabic?
- "Meng aaesh kuman arbin Yauman Sar Minhum." This is an Arabic proverb - "Who lived with the people of 40 days, he became part of it." If you did not know, you would not be sent. Arabic proverbs and sayings are quite amusing. I recently put another one in the collection: when around 100 rebels in shale with AK and RPG broke into the mined reception palace of foreign delegations near Sirte, the last thing they saw in their lives was a big inscription on the wall - “Arjan at- tyz faahaua bitaam almiz "- Iraqi officer saying -" Where are you with bare ass, yes to the officer's canteen ".
- When do you plan to return to Libya?
- In a few days I will be in one of the neighboring countries. The border on 90% is not controlled by the rebels. There is a connection with Khamis and ours. They are waiting.
Khamis Gaddafi: We will win or die, no one intends to surrender or flee
In a telephone conversation with his classmate at the Academy. Frunze, acting officer of the Russian army Sergey Khamis Gaddafi, thanked all Russians supporting the struggle of the Libyan people against the occupiers. "AN" quoted Khamis Gaddafi as a whole, removing only the full name of a classmate.
- Thanks to all our classmates and teachers, who were able to pass me a small piece of the spirit of your winning nation and taught us to adequately assess the combat situation, passed on the most valuable combat experience and skills. I am proud that I had such teachers, if I am worthy of them - time will show.
Thanks to all those who support us, being in Russia, Ukraine and other republics of the former USSR. And especially - to those brave men from your people who remained shoulder to shoulder with us to defend my country from aggression. We will win or die, surrender or flee no one intends. Dying in battle with such warriors is the dream of any protector of their homeland. In any case, to have a friend of a Russian person is an honor for a Libyan, and this is already recorded on the pages. stories Libya, Allah is the witness. As it is sung in your Russian song - “this land will be ours if we do not die in battle”! But Libya will always be ours, even if we die!
Much has now changed in the world. Who would have thought that everything would turn out that way. But you remember - it was for this that we prepared and studied. And we will endure this test with valor. Whatever the British / French / American newspapers and TV say, the majority of the population supports us. And we will not abandon them, we will not allow robbery and punishment. We may have made a mistake considering this conflict for a long time as an intra-Libyan conflict. The way it is. But our enemies, traitors, carried him outside of Libya, selling themselves to the colonial capitalists. I gave the order by any means to inform the international community about the crimes of NATO and their rebels, to spread information after each raid on civilian objects and the civilian population, after each battle or reprisals against ordinary Libyans and foreigners. I want to be sure that the Libyan blood is now flowing like a river, that the world will finally see what the UN and the so-called civilized West are.
Our blood is not cheap. No traitor and indifferent will sleep peacefully until the end of his days, by Allah and the honor of an officer of the Libyan army. Take care of yourself, your families and your country. Once again, our friendship, Sergey, is an honor for me.
