Both ships will arrive at the Italian shipbuilding association Fincantieri, where they will be repaired and upgraded for subsequent transfer to Bangladesh.

On March 4, 2015, Bangladeshi authorities signed an agreement with Italy to purchase four Minerva-type corvettes worth a total of 105 million euros from Italy fleet.

“In total, the Italian Navy had eight Minerva-type corvettes with a standard displacement of about 1300 t, built by the Fincantieri union and commissioned in 1987-1991. In addition to F 551 Minerva and F 558 Sibilla, Bangladesh is expected to sell the F 553 Danaide and F 555 Driade corvettes, ”the article notes.

All four ships will undergo pre-sale repairs and upgrades at Fincantieri facilities. In particular, the landing pad and telescopic hangar for the medium helicopter will appear on the site of the Aspide SAM missile launcher.

The French would be happy to offer at least someone, but the contract does not allow.

Corvette "Minerva" - the lead in a series of eight ships, became part of the Italian Navy in 1987 year.
Ships of this series are designed to protect maritime communications, guard convoys, fight against submarines and light surface ships in coastal areas. In addition, ships of this class solve the tasks of protecting territorial waters, combating smuggling, search and rescue at sea.
To carry out the tasks assigned to it, the ship is equipped with an eight-container missile launcher "Aspid", a 76-mm artillery mount, and two three-tube torpedo tubes.
Corvettes of the "Minerva" type have a smooth-decked hull, a raised bow. The ship is equipped with onboard steerable rudders and bilge keels, which significantly reduced the roll. In addition, the shape of the hull of the Minerva-class ships allows a relatively high speed to be maintained in rough seas. Minerva-type corvettes are equipped with low-noise mechanisms, sound-insulating foundations, shock absorbers. The ship is equipped with a system for protecting the crew from weapons of mass destruction.
The air conditioning system maintains the temperature in the premises of the ship within 20-25 degrees. The power plant of ships of this type consists of two diesel engines with a total capacity of 12 600 hp and allows you to develop a maximum speed 24 node. Cruising range is 3 500 miles (at a speed of 18 knots).

If they are in reserve and it is not planned to restore them in the current fleet in the future, then it is better to sell, which the Italians did.

It seems that the Russian military-industrial complex is more focused on selling new, expensive equipment. And, does not notice the huge segment of the "secondary" market. For poor countries. You need to learn how to sell disarmed equipment.

What can we say here the arms race in the region is growing and new countries are actively joining it, such as Bangladesh, which has decided to sharply strengthen its naval forces.
Thus, two diesel-electric submarines of the project 035G (Western designation Ming class) from the PLA Navy were ordered in the People's Republic of China. The cost of the contract is 16 billion (about 203,3 million dollars), this amount should be allocated by the Ministry of Finance of Bangladesh in the budgets of five years - from 2013 / 2014 to 2017 / 2018 financial years. Both boats must be part of the Bangladeshi fleet in 2019.

On March 1, 2014, in Chittagong, the frigates F 15 Abu Bakar and F 17 Ali Haider were officially introduced into the Bangladesh Navy - the former Chinese Huangshi (tail number "535") and Wuhu (tail number "536") of Project 053H2 (Jianghu III class) ...

Earlier, the Bangladesh Navy had already acquired from the PLA Navy a similar type frigate Xiangtan (side number "1989") of Project 556H053 (Jianghu II) in 1, which became the Bangladeshi F 18 Osman.
In addition, the Bangladesh Navy has a South Korean frigate of the Ulsan (Bangabandhu) class, two American Coast Guard ships of the Hamilton class, equipped with Chinese C-2 anti-ship missiles). In addition, 802 old English frigate, project 1, is used as a training frigate.
Also in 2012, two corvettes were ordered in China, a project similar to the Chinese project 056, and in the future it is possible to build two more such ships at the Bangladeshi shipyard Khulna Shipyard. The head ship F 111 Shadhinota was laid in Wuhan 8 January 2013 of the year, and launching on November 29 2014 of the year, the second launch of 30 December 2014. Apparently, both ships will be transferred to the Bangladesh fleet by the end of 2015.

In England, in 2010, 2 patrol ships of the Castle type were purchased, which were upgraded with Chinese-made weapons — the 76-mm NG-16-1 automatic universal artillery gun (the export designation of a Chinese copy of the Soviet AK-176 gun mounts) and four container launchers of anti-ship missiles C-704 (with a range of up to 38 km). For fire control installed Chinese radar TR-47C.

In addition, the 2 corvette of the type Durjoy, armed with Chinese weapons, was built at its own shipyards.

Judging by the purchases of ships from China by Bangladesh, they are betting on China and are going to be friends with him, and not with India. In general, I look - if Europe was disarmed, then Asia is arming itself. When so many countries in the same region are purchasing weapons at the same time, the sign is true - they are preparing for war as an adult. In general, India Bangladesh is extremely uncomfortable - it practically cuts off part of India and leaves only a small isthmus. The PRC would like to chop off a piece of territory from India - to break several tens of kilometers to the borders of Bangladesh and a solid piece will disappear from India. Th Indians in Bangladesh almost completely surrounded by them are likely to lick their lips.
