The Omsk Transport Engineering Plant, which is structurally part of the UVZ, handed over to the Russian Armed Forces a new special machine for extinguishing fires. The tracked vehicle was developed by specialists of the plant in 2012, and a year later the fire truck was presented at the RAE-2013 exhibition, held in Nizhny Tagil. Then this car aroused significant interest among visitors. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation also showed interest.
The fire truck managed to go through the whole complex of tests, including state tests, having received the name SPM (special fire truck).
Fire engine created using components and assemblies tanks T-72 and T-80. It is intended for extinguishing fires and conducting rescue operations at arsenals, warehouses and bases for storing explosive substances, clearing passages to fires, and laying fire strips in forest fires. Its weight is not more than 65 tons, the crew of the car includes 3 people who are reliably protected inside a sealed and insulated cabin. The stock of the extinguishing agent is 25 m³, and the range of the extinguishing agent reaches 100 meters with a capacity of 100 liters per second.
It is reported that the crew of SPM is dressed in special heat-insulating, heat-resistant suits that can protect a person from exposure to high temperatures. In addition, the crew provides for the use of individual means of filtration and air purification.
The first batch of special fire engines will be released by the end of this year.
