Expert: Petro Poroshenko’s decree on the celebration of the 100 anniversary of the victory of the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen does not correspond to the facts of historical reality
In particular, the controversial interpretations of the events of the First World War, when in the territory of Galicia the Russian Imperial Army entered into battle with units of Austria-Hungary, formed, including, and from the aforementioned Sich riflemen, told the expert of the Russian Institute of Strategic Studies, the author of the book "Taking Makivka Mountains: Unknown Victory of Russian Forces in the Spring of 1915 of the Year ”Vasily Kashirin.
“Of course, this decree of Petro Poroshenko does not correspond to the facts of historical reality. The hype surrounding the alleged victory of the legion of Ukrainian Sich Riflemen on Mount Makovka does not relate to real military history, but to the field of military-patriotic, nationalist, chauvinistic propaganda, ”Kashirin quotes LifeNews.
The historian noted that in reality the battle for Makovka ended in a tactical victory for the Russian army.
“The main outcome of the battle for Makovka is that the Russian troops managed to draw a big battle that was going on in the Austrian direction,” the expert noted.
According to him, the Ukrainian propagandists have no scientific support: documents that deny the victory of the imperial weaponsthey did not provide.
