Armata can become a base for BMO-2

23
Creation tank T-14 and BMP T-15 today is one of the priority tasks aimed at modernizing the Russian ground forces. However, it is possible that in the foreseeable future, another machine will appear on the basis of the Armata platform - the combat vehicle of flamethrowers (BMO-2), writes in his article for Messenger of Mordovia Dmitry Lemeshko.

"Domestic armed forces are armed with a completely unique weapon - rocket infantry flamethrowers, which showed themselves well in many armed conflicts and wars. Therefore, it is not surprising that for units that have these means of defeating the enemy, it was decided to develop special equipment. As a result, a BMO-1 flamethrower combat vehicle, based on the BMP-2, appeared, ”the author writes.

Armata can become a base for BMO-2
BMO-1

The airborne detachment of the BMP-2 was converted to accommodate 22's disposable reactive flamethrowers, while the number of troops dropped to 4 people.

BMO-1 has not received wide distribution, flamethrowers prefer to move on MT-LB.

The BMO-T, created in Omsk on the basis of T-72B, was to become another machine for flame-throwing units.

BMO-T

“The BMO-T weighs almost 44 tons. In addition to three dozen flame throwers "Bumblebee", it was armed with a machine gun NSVT caliber 12,7 mm. The crew - two people, landing - 7 people. Engine power 840 hp The maximum travel speed is up to 60 km / h. Power reserve - up to 650 km ", - Lemeshko gives technical characteristics.

The machine was put into service in 2001, but for its intended purpose was practically not used. According to some reports, it was used as an armored personnel carrier to escort heavy flamethrower systems - TOC-1А.

In 2013, the exhibition “Innovation Day of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation” for the first time presented data on the 2 generation fire fighting vehicle, BMO-2, on the basis of the Armata platform. It was significantly different from the BMO-T. “So, the engine compartment is located in the front. Judging by the materials that are available on the Web, the engine power is 1500 hp, the maximum speed is 75 km / h. The crew of the car is the 2 man plus the 6 paratroopers, ”the author writes.

BMO-2 should have multi-layered armor with built-in dynamic and active protection. Its weapons are the 42 flamethrower, the 30 mm cannon and the twin PKTM machine gun. On the tower - 24 guides for incendiary smoke cartridges. Machine weight - about 49 t.

“Of course, the creation of this BMO-2 is not a top priority, but its appearance in service with the Russian army will significantly increase the capabilities of flame-throwing units,” Lemeshko concludes.

Let's hope that the BMO-2 will satisfy all the requirements of military specialists and will live a long life in our troops.

So initially the Armata platform was intended for various types of machines. No wonder. These flamethrower machines were designed to deliver salvos and shots in combat conditions. Dismounted flamethrowers can somehow support the fire BMO-1. BMO-T has an open machine gun mount, which predetermines certain limitations of its use to support the actions of flamethrowers.

There are a lot of interesting things to build on Armata. Here to see her for a start. Then talk already ...

Armata will be the basis of all that is possible. No wonder it is called a universal platform.

And why can’t you make slanted cassette guides hidden in armor for guided flamethrower rockets?
Crew: two people stationed at the rear of the car.
MTO: located in front of the machine.
Ammunition: Laser-guided / unguided flamethrower shells, completely hidden in the reserved space. Located in the central part of the machine.
Application: Target strikes with laser-guided missile projectiles, volley strikes with unguided projectiles over a small area (depending on the situation).
Range - up to 3 km.

Flamethrowers with RPO / LPO also provide direct support to the infantry. You won’t reach all targets with armor.

Unification = Armatification - Our Post! So directly joyfully and pride bursts that finally the entire technical component is not only inspected and offered a replacement - so they began to actively change! You look through 10 years. In general, we will not experience any competition! God bless the grandchildren of God!

In general, this is in my opinion a controversial decision to twist the armature back and forth. It was easier to do immediately with the motor in front. It may seem that it’s just that the hull has been unfolded and in reverse - forward, but in fact the layout is changing, the crew is different, it sits in a different place, for sure you need various adapters and details that are not in the original armature, here you are unification, weight distribution is changing, you need to reassemble the suspension. In general, everything is not so simple here, so apparently it turns out so expensive. But the direction with the armature as a whole is correct, the crew must be protected at all costs.

The platform was originally developed for various layout options. A living example of the T-15 and T-14.

So the Armata chassis was immediately developed in two versions - with the MTO at the front and the MTO at the rear. Just from the expectation that different layouts may come in handy for different machines.

And where is the unification here if initially two options?

On the same units and assemblies, you can build different purpose machines.

Nodes and assemblies is not a platform, otherwise it would not be necessary to fence the garden, but to make new machines on nodes and assemblies of the t-90 for example. Here we initially have two different platforms with high unification, for the tank and for the rest, that’s the way to write.

The meaning of a separate machine for flamethrowers is not entirely clear. Where then the same for grenade launchers, calculations ATGM, MANPADS, etc. Comrades, can anyone explain?

And "Chrysanthemum" is not an anti-tank system? A "Pantsir" or "Thor" not MANPADS? As for the grenade launchers, these are combat units of motorized rifle units. Let's then select separate vehicles for the machine gunners. And flamethrowers are a separate, dedicated, structure in the chemical troops.

BC carry. The flamethrower will not drag more than two pipes. And running every time to the rear is inconvenient.

The calculations of MANPADS, AGS, LNG and wearable ATGM also have their own cars. The BMP-2 MANPADS battery is included normally.

emnip because flamethrowers are prohibited by the UN, and only chemical defense troops can use them, so flamethrowers are chemical troops and they must have their own car, since the set of their actions is different from the actions of motorized infantry.

Flamethrowers belong to chemical troops here traditionally, since the First World War

Flamethrowers are not prohibited by the UN. It is forbidden to use incendiary weapons in settlements.

Thermobaric ammunition is not an incendiary weapon.

The BMO concept itself is not entirely clear. Why gather everyone under one roof? - What would immediately lose everyone? Maybe it's better to just include flamethrowers in the assault groups?

There is no such full-time unit.
They have a separate unit. You need to move around on something.

Well, the news is encouraging. See, break in the troops and - if everything suits everyone - in a large series. And let it live happily ever after. I support the concept of hiding flamethrowers under armor, since on the battlefield they will definitely attract increased interest from the enemy.
Interestingly, will the specimens take part in the May 9 parade?

I can’t imagine a place for 49 ton vehicles in combat order attacking motorized rifle units! The advanced advancing units of the MRV must be mobile, floating, as autonomous as possible in combat support, and carry deadly weapons for enemy tanks and aircraft. And we sculpt ship armor and put hand flamethrowers on 49 tons of weight! It’s probably a good idea to think about effective front-line air defense. soldier
