Canadian military ordered the development of a snowmobile-stealth for special operations
11
In fact, Canada has no borders with any frankly hostile state. Moreover, this quiet northern country should not be expected to be attacked by the pole. And yet, the local military allocated half a million (US) dollars to create a prototype snowmobile for special operations.
Requirements for transport are not too complicated: a hybrid drive and a silent electric motor, the ability to drive 15 km on it at an average speed of 20 km / h. The military expect a prototype by the end of March next year.
And yet, for which Canada needed a similar snowmobile - the question is unpleasant. In recent years, the country has been actively concerned with strengthening its (so far rather only symbolic) combat power in the Arctic - and not alone. With the melting of the polar ice cap and the discovery of new sources of useful resources here, the struggle for the region is intensifying. The fact that Canada is ready to contend with other northern countries (including, of course, and Russia), we wrote in detail in the article "Pantry of the Snow Queen."
On the other hand, if the Arctic really melts, then the snowmobiles here will prove to be meaningless. Unless the “Arctic War” begins before this deadline.
