The head of the National Teleradio of Ukraine, Yuriy Artemenko, announced the revocation of the license of the ukroyazychny version of the channel Euronews, reports the agency 112.UA.
“Today (March 19, - VO), at a meeting of the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting, it was decided to revoke the Euronews channel’s license in Ukraine”, - declared Artemenko.
According to him, “The product that Euronews produces for the National Television Company does not meet the needs of Ukraine”.
True, there is a small hitch: NTU (National Television Company) owed Euronews € 5 million. “Negotiations are now under way to pay off this amount,” said Artyommenko.
Reference 112.UA: “On January 12, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk signed a decree“ On the termination of the functioning of the Ukrainian-language version of the international TV channel Euronews ”. The Prime Minister also instructed the National Television Company to pay off the debt of Euronews in the amount of 176 million UAH. The Ukrainian version of the Euronews TV channel started 24 August broadcasting on 2011 g. ”
The Russian version of Euronews was disabled in September 2014.
