In Vienna, Schwarzenbergplatz doused with paint the pedestal of the monument to the Soviet Soldier-Liberator, reports RIA News message of the representative of the Russian embassy in Austria Bulat Haydarov
“Monument defiled. They poured black paint over the flowers, ”said Khaidarov. “That part of the monument is poured with paint, where Stalin’s order in connection with the capture of Vienna's 13 on April 1945 of the year was stamped in gold letters on a pedestal.”
20 February wreaths were laid at the monument from the Russian embassy and diplomatic missions of other states in connection with the celebration of Defender of the Fatherland Day in Russia.
According to Khaidarov, the embassy is preparing a note at the Austrian Foreign Ministry.
According to the agreement of 1955, all military monuments in Austria are under the protection of the local government and its contents.
