"Die Zeit": President Poroshenko - a man who does not fulfill promises
“Many Ukrainians are still lenient towards their president, because he gives himself up as a military man and a patriot, but Poroshenko’s support is falling,” the newspaper writes.
According to a survey conducted by Research and Branding group in late January – early February, Poroshenko’s support level from August 57% dropped to 45%. 46% expressed direct dissatisfaction with the president (against 29 in September).
And no wonder. “Not a single campaign promise has been fulfilled,” Die Zeit writes. - The fight against corruption dragged on, some officials were fired, but no sentences were passed. There is no visa-free regime with the EU, which Poroshenko announced at 1 on January 2015. ”
“Straining” the Ukrainians and the fact that the head of state, contrary to promises, never sold his confectionery. “It seems that this confirms the belief that politics in Ukraine is only business,” the authors of the article note.
And, of course, the conflict in Donbass is added to everything, which is also far from being resolved.
“One unfulfilled promise is replaced by the following - whether we are talking about the Donbass, reforms or corruption,” Balash Yarabik, an employee of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, told the newspaper. “The ruling elite is still not able to communicate with people the way they deserve it after the Maidan: honestly and with dignity.”
