An EDA-R landing craft launched in France - the first of two ordered by Russia for Mistral
“After launching, the headboat was towed to be completed at the Socarenam shipyard in Boulogne-sur-Mer, its delivery is scheduled for December 2015 of the year. At the company "Socarenam" in Saint-Malo is under construction and the second boat of this type for Russia. The construction of both boats was conducted in considerable secrecy, and their order itself was not advertised, ”writes the French portal.
EDA-R boats were ordered by Russia along with four landing craft (traditional type) CTM NG, which are already built at the STX Lorient shipyard in Loriana. Currently, all 4 boats are located in Saint-Nazaire along with the completed construction of the Vladivostok DVKD.
According to the Internet resource, the Mistral can carry in its dock-chamber “two boats of type EDA-R, or four boats of type CTM (CTM NG), or a combination of one EDA-R and two CTM (CTM NG)”.
"EDA-R –30-meter all-aluminum speedboat-catamaran (official French designation L'engin de Débarquement Amphibie Rapide - EDA-R), developed by the French private shipbuilding company (CNIM) from Saint-Malo specifically for basing in dock cameras French UDC type "Mistral". The prototype demonstrator of the boat was built in 2006-2008, ”the portal reports.
In 2009, the French Ministry of Defense ordered 4 for such boats. All of them were built and handed over to the military department in 2011-2012.
