Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi said that Tehran would not discuss its missile industry with the six international mediators.
On Monday, State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki expressed concern about the launch of an Iranian satellite. According to her, the missile development program will be discussed during negotiations with the “six” international mediators on Iran’s nuclear program.
“The Safir carrier rocket, which launched the Fajr (Rassvet) satellite on Monday, was designed and built by experts of the aerospace agency of the Iranian Ministry of Defense as part of the country's space program and pursues absolutely peaceful purposes,” Arakchi said RIA "News".
The deputy minister noted that "the Iranian missile program is exclusively defensive in nature," and they believe that "the country's defense issues are not topics for discussion by any other state." According to him, the missile and defense industries have not been discussed before, “and this will not be allowed either now or in the future.”
On Monday, Iran successfully launched a fourth satellite, Fajr (Rassvet), equipped with a GPS navigation system. Earlier there were reports that Tehran plans to launch three satellites into orbit from March 2015 of the year to March of 2016.
