In the near future, the Russian army, including the Airborne Forces, will begin to receive snowmobiles and ATVs manufactured at the Russian Mechanics enterprise in Rybinsk, reports TASS with reference to plant manager Valery Karavaev.
At the end of 2014, the Ministry of Defense concluded a contract with the Rybinsk enterprise for the supply of special models of snowmobiles and ATVs to the army. In the coming 2 of the year, their 130 and 110 units will be transferred, respectively.
“The new order of the Ministry of Defense will support the stable operation of the enterprise and ensure a decent wage level for its employees,” said Karavayev.
In addition, 22 in January was attended by the Airborne Forces Commander Vladimir Shamanov and the Governor of the Yaroslavl Region Sergey Yastrebov. The general himself appreciated the possibilities of technology.
“After the test drive, the commander of the Airborne Forces set before his subordinates the task of developing a technical task of adapting snowmobiles for the Airborne Forces, including the possibility of paratroops to be landed,” said Governor’s spokesman Alexander Shikhanov. “It has been decided that airborne units will use snowmobiles during exercise and performance tasks.”
