MAGPULL MASADA / Bushmaster ACR

3
In November 2009, Colt Defense will expire a contract with US DoD (US Department of Defense) for the supply of M4 carbines to the army and the United States Naval Forces (Marine Corps). To this date, many famous weapons firms (such as Robison Arms, ZM Weapon) presented their small arms models, hoping to replace the M4 carbine. The famous American company Magpull, which produces numerous accessories and additions to small arms, was no exception. In 2006, the MAGPULL MASADA rifle was provided - a new modular small arms system under the 5.56x45 cartridge.

When creating the MASADA rifle, the developers certainly “looked around” at the SCAR complex. In the Adaptive Combat Weapon System, it is possible to change the configuration of rifles by changing the barrel, trigger, butt, etc. without the help of auxiliary tools. This allows as soon as possible to adapt the weapon to a particular task. MASADA rifle is available in several versions:

Standart - standard assault rifle with barrel length
14.5 inches (370mm) and foldable, adjustable in length
butt having a two-position adjustable cheek.

CQB - carbine with a barrel 10.5 inches (265mm), and as a result
having a shorter forearm.

SPR - “sniper” version with a barrel having a length
18 inches (460mm) as well as a PRS butt, adjustable to
length and height.

AK variant - a variant developed for the Soviet cartridge sample
1943goda (7.62x39). Food comes from the AK stores.

Magpul Massoud - the second version of the rifle for Marxman, developed
chambered for .308Win (7.62x51)

MAGPULL MASADA / Bushmaster ACR

The MASADA assault rifle is an automatic or semi-automatic weapon, the automation of which is based on the use of the energy of powder gases discharged through a vapor outlet in the barrel wall with a short stroke of a gas piston. Shooting is from a closed shutter. When fired, a part of the powder gases rushes through the gas outlet in the wall of the barrel and presses on the piston, forcing it to move backwards and give movement to the bolt group. When moving back the bolt removes its 7 lugs from engaging with the breech breech. The gas piston is returned under its own return spring. Meanwhile, the slide group on the way back compresses the return spring, extracts and throws out the cartridge case and cocks the trigger. Under the action of the recoil spring, the bolt group begins to move forward, sending a new cartridge into the chamber during the journey and locking the breech. When all the cartridges in the magazine are used up, the rifle automatically becomes the slide stop function, which is automatically activated by the magazine feeder shelf and manually turned off using the flag on the end of the trigger bracket on both sides.
The barrel is fixed in the receiver with a special clamping bracket, which allows you to change the barrel and the vapor system (they go as a single module) with your hands, without the aid of tools. To change the caliber or configuration, it is enough to change the barrel, bolt group and shops. The receiver is divided into two halves: the top (UPPER receiver) and the bottom (LOWER receiver). The upper half is made of magnesium-aluminum alloy brand 7515 T6, and the lower of impact-resistant polyamide. The two halves are interconnected by means of pins: front and rear. Across the top of the rifle, as well as on the bottom and on both sides, there are Picatinny rail (STANAG 2324) guides, which allow to install the widest range of optional equipment.
USM hammer type, almost identical to that on the rifles M16 and is a separate module. Civilian version allows firing only single shots. In some states where it is allowed to have a weapon with the possibility of automatic fire, it is possible to install a trigger with a fully automatic mode. The fuse is a three-position translator (on a combat version) or two-position (on a civilian version) and has the following safe modes (fuse), semi-auto (single shot fire) and full-auto (automatic fire). The latter mode have a rifle with trigger that allows the possibility of automatic fire. All the accessories of the weapon are made of impact-resistant polymer, identical to that of which the LOWER receiver is made. Removable sights are made of a folding diopter pillar and folding front sight. The window for ejection of sleeves is on the right side. Near it is a special ledge-reflector, designed to ensure comfortable shooting from the left shoulder. The charging handle is located on the right side above the extraction window, but thanks to special slots on the left side, the handle can be installed on the left. Butt fastened in the receiver on its rail and is fixed with a pin. For the MASADA rifle, two butts are regularly offered: folding, adjustable in length, and folding, but not unregulated in length. Also optionally put adjustable in length and height of the butt. All butts are made of polyamide and equipped with cheeks, making shooting more comfortable.

Food is produced from stores made according to the STANAG 4179 standard (it is possible to use the stores from the M16 rifle), as well as a special development of MAGPUL - PMAG stores that have a transparent “window” allowing to control the ammunition consumption. In the “AK variant” configuration, food is produced from stores from the Kalashnikov assault rifle.
The controls (magazine latch, safety lock, etc.) are duplicated on both sides, which makes weapons more comfortable for left-handed shooters.
In January, 2008, another American company Bushmaster announced the acquisition of rights to the MASADA rifle. Now mostly rifle is available on the civilian market called Bushmaster ACR.

I agree. Behind him (acr) is the future of assault rifles. Although the return on plastic is of course more than that on Kalash or M4
