"Machine-Building Plant" ZiO-Podolsk "launched the production of reactor installations for nuclear icebreakers

26
OJSC Machine-Building Plant ZiO-Podolsk launched the production of the main equipment of the RITM-200-type reactor facilities with which the Ural and Sibir production icebreakers of the 22220 project (LC-60Ya) will be equipped, the blog reports Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies.

Each unit consists of two reactors with a thermal capacity of 175 MW each. Due to the unique integrated layout of the equipment, the RITM-200 installation is almost twice as compact and lighter than the KLT installation with the thermal capacity of 140-150 MW, which is currently used on atomic icebreakers. The lifetime of the new power plant is 40 years. It is planned that the main equipment for the first installation will be delivered in the third quarter of the year 2017, for the second - in the third quarter of the year 2018.

29 May 2014, LLC Baltiysky Zavod - Sudostroenie, signed a contract with Rosatom, which envisages the construction of two serial 22220 nuclear icebreakers (LC-60Я) worth $ 84,4 billion for FSUE Atomflot. The developer of this project is JSC Iceberg Central Design Bureau (now CJSC OSK-Iceberg Central Design Bureau).

According to the contract, the Arktika icebreaker is to be built by December 30 2017. The second and third production icebreakers of the 22220 project will be built in December 2019 and December 2020, respectively.

This is good, encouraging news. The Russian icebreaking fleet is gaining even more power.

Not really ... before, in case of war, each icebreaker had weapons and places for their installation, which were stored at the "base". In new projects, no. hi

New icebreakers are dominance in the development of the Arctic. It’s good that their construction is not delayed and should be completed in optimal good deadlines.

The icebreaking fleet is the foundation of our power in the Arctic. It is there that the focus of the struggle for resources is still shifting! And we will not have weak opponents on this front! And we must maintain our leadership!
To the Arctic only by passes issued by Russia))))) laughing !

When you read such articles, you involuntarily remember McCain and his phrase that "Russia is a gas station country" and I really want to neigh, or at least giggle, like children do.

for all-prowlers, this is a mockery, not an argument. If such productions were opened, at least a dozen would be used ... We don’t have any mechanical engineering and we have gone through it over the past 15 years (as the price of oil went to the top). So it's too early to rejoice.

The same installation would have come to the court on the new Leader-class destroyers. 40 years of operation, 175 MW of thermal power, with a displacement of 10 kilotons and the speed would probably be under 35-40 knots.
