Russian Army Aviation in 2014

46
Army aviation it is customary to call helicopter units, which work together with the ground forces - support fire from the air, supply their troops with various supplies, land troops and evacuate the wounded. The value of army aviation is that it is almost always located next to the troops and has a very high combat potential. In recent years, Russian army aviation has been equipped with new military equipment, which is produced by five helicopter plants located in Rostov-on-Don, Kazan, Kumertau, Ulan-Ude and Arsenyev. According to the results of the 2014 production year, Russia took the first place in the world in the production of combat helicopters, having overtaken even the United States and the European Union in this indicator. In addition to our own armed forces, our combat helicopters enter the arsenal of the armies of Venezuela, Peru, Afghanistan, Iraq, Brazil, Azerbaijan, India and many other countries of the world.

In 2014, the air bases of Zapadny (Ostrov, Levashovo and Vyazma), Yuzhny (Rostov-on-Don, Budennovsk and Dzhankoy), Central (Kamensk-Uralsky and Tolmachevo) and Vostochny (Chernigovka, Khabarovsk, Chita and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk) military districts As well as the military school and the center for the training and retraining of air crews, more than 100 new combat, transport and training helicopters were received.

Today adopted the Russian Air Force receives transport helicopters Ka-226, Mi-8MTV-5 and Mi-26T, transport and combat helicopters Mi-8AMTSH and Mi-35M, combat helicopters Mi-28N and Ka-52, as well as training helicopters " Ansat.

The main types of helicopters entering service with the Russian Air Force:

Ka-52 "Alligator" - combat reconnaissance, attack helicopter;

Mi-28H "Night Hunter" - combat attack helicopter;

Mi-35M - combat attack helicopter;

Mi-8AMTSH "Terminator" - transport and landing combat helicopter

Mi-8MTV-5 - transport and landing helicopter;

Mi-26 - heavy transport helicopter;

Ka-226 - light transport helicopter;

"Ansat-U" - training helicopter.

In addition to the above, the industry also produces profile-making helicopters, for example, repeater helicopters, rescue helicopters, or luxury helicopters.

Aircraft bases, regiment and brigade of Russian Army Aviation

Russian Army Aviation is represented by second-class aviation bases, the 39 helicopter regiment formed this year as part of the aviation division in Crimea, as well as the most powerful helicopter unit, the 15 air brigade deployed in one of the most important areas of the north-west.

Usually, the aviation base includes the 2-3 squadron of transport and combat helicopters. As part of the 5 brigade squadrons, the composition of the regiment in the open press has not yet been disclosed.

The most important events that occurred in army aviation in 2014:

1. In February and March 2014, helicopter units of the Southern Military District took part in ensuring peace and security during the people's referendum on self-determination of the Crimea: several airborne operations were carried out by the forces of the South-Eastern Military District to deliver the “green men” to the missions.

2. In 2014, a powerful aviation group was created in the Crimea, the basis of which was the newly formed 27-I mixed aviation division, which, in addition to the two "aircraft" regiments, included the 39-th helicopter regiment based at the airfield in Dzhankoy. The 393-I air base in Korenovsk took part in the formation of this regiment - it was from this base that the newest combat helicopters Ka-52, Mi-28Н and various modifications of transport and combat helicopters Mi-8 available at Korenovsk air base were transferred to Crimea. At the moment it is the only helicopter regiment in the Russian armed forces.

3. At the plant in Ulan-Ude, the assembly of “Arctic” Mi-8AMTSH-V helicopters began, which are maximally adapted for use and combat use in the harsh climatic conditions of the Russian Arctic. The first eight vehicles entered service with two air bases in the Western and Central military districts.

4. In September, during the Vostok-2014 strategic exercise, sixteen Mi-8AMTSH helicopters from the Eastern Military District made a long-haul flight from Iturup Island (Kuriles) to the Kamchatka Yelizovo airfield. The entire route in 1300 kilometers passed over the sea and took more than six hours. Each helicopter was equipped with additional fuel tanks, which made it possible to make this record flight.

    I ask you not to judge strictly. It’s just interesting. Why now, without any restrictions on free access, you can find open names of units and subunits of the RF Armed Forces and the armament of these parts? In the USSR, there was order No. 010. And what now? Everything is possible?

      Alas, social networks and the Internet are not yet controlled by orders and censorship.

      I also somehow fell under the influence of order 010 ... The reality now is that if you are a civilian and click pictures behind the fence, no one will forbid you to post them on the network, and if you are wearing shoulder straps, you fall under the influence of orders. In D. Koretsky's novel "Rock and Roll Under the Kremlin" there is a moment when the CIA pulled out photographs of the necessary people from the Odnoklassniki social network

    Good health to all.
    Happy New Year
    I don’t remember exactly, in 1974 or 1975 I picked up the Jane's All the World's Aircraft catalog (this catalog was freely sold to everyone. In the USSR, this catalog was also acquired, but only by certain institutions). It contained a very detailed description, including the performance characteristics of the airframe, engine and equipment and, with a very detailed "X-ray" image of the then new F-16 aircraft. I want to emphasize that the F-16 aircraft made its first official flight on February 2, 1974. And it was adopted on August 17, 1978. There was also a fairly extensive overview of Soviet military aviation in the catalog with photographs of different quality, with drawings of what was poorly visible in the photographs and with a description of the alleged performance characteristics of these aircraft.

    "Russia has come out on top in the world in the production of combat helicopters," - This is good and cannot but rejoice! I would like to wish our Air Force not to experience a shortage of spare parts - this is an equally important component of combat readiness! In aviation, no matter where it is necessary to comply with the regulations, an unreplaced unit is a potential cause of a disaster.

    But with the civilian situation, apparently a little worse.
    Some models do not have modern engines, the same Ansat is equipped with Pratt & Whitney PW-207K engines.
    On the Ka-62, instead of Russian RD-600 engines, French Turbomeca Ardiden 3G will be installed. The gearbox and transmission will be supplied by the Austrian company Zoerkler.

    In addition, the licensed assembly of AgustaWestland AW139 will not add strength to our helicopter industry in the Russian and world markets. Why a license for the entire helicopter, you need to take a license for the production of individual components or assemblies that are behind our global level and which can be adapted to our models.

    When I looked at the photo from the Chinese air show, I was envious of the number and variety of helicopters and airplanes (not those of our AL-31). Accordingly, it was thought that for all these models there is a nomenclature of their own and licensed engines.

      Well, if they WILL BE DELIVERED and they are reliable and with a large resource - why not, especially as a civilian helicopter. Well, you can’t completely fence yourself off from the whole world - we also need to sell our own, all this confrontation will take place, we need to think about the future! And if you look at the Middle East ...

        In the long run, this is the loss of civilian helicopter engineering following civilian aircraft construction.
        Moreover, due to recent trends, the threat of any sanctions with the cessation of supplies always hangs, because this situation is potentially possible, is not it?
        Buying engines and gradually completely localizing their production is the only way. If you do not assume that suddenly our brand new engines are on the way and buying a temporary measure.
